Powell: Bush Should Stop Denying That There Is A Civil War In Iraq (Video)

thinkprogress.org — Former Secretary of State Colin Powell has told CNN that Iraq ’s violence meets the standard of a civil war and thinks President Bush needs to acknowledge that.

      I guess Colin has rediscovered his balls now that his reputation is in jeopardy. He could have done so much good in 2003 or 2004 if he had owned up to misleading the world and making false claims about Iraq WMD's.

      But no - he kept his mouth shut until 2006 - and only now, when it's far too late, does he break with Bush.

      What a gutless slug this guy is.

    It now looks like it is clan vs. clan, sect vs. sect, and shia vs. sunni all at the same time. It looks like pure armed chaos.

    I hope Bush got whatever satisfaction he wanted out of taking out Saddam; because a person like Saddam was the only reason that artificial state existed. Bush's exit plan better take that into consideration, if he actually has an exit plan.

Look up the Salvador Operation . . . the worst violence is being carried out in Iraq is by some "black ops" groups the US is running. Although Iraqi's have occasionally whacked off people's heads, grabbing 100+ folks and whacking their heads off and scattering them around town to increase sectarian fighting is a "signature" of our Black Ops folks who ran the war in El Salvador.

He had an opportunity but found his game was not as good as the other players as he either discovered some humanity and felt remorse for what he attempted or was found to be lacking sufficient killer instinct to continue. I would be extremely surprised if he could compete for his community association presidency at this point given his non-existent credibility or maybe that's supposed to be extreme gullibility. Either way, the sidelines is a nice safe place.

    Put a frog in cold water and slowly turn up the heat and it won't jump. Now Americans work for almost 1/2 of each year just to pay their taxes, lost the Bill of Rights, and are manipulated daily by conspiring government leaders.

    Wake up America. We have now been in Iraq longer than we fought World War II--and for what? Oil? Does anyone wish we stayed longer in any war?

    If we really cared about "democracy" and "human rights" then we would have invaded Cuba since it is 90 miles off our coast.

    Americans would rather become the leaders in alternative energies. America was a place of innovation. Why does our President refuse to represent the people? Does anyone think he is smarter than us? Why does our President not share the same vision of America as its people?

    Powell did NOT say "Bush should stop denying that it's a civil war".

    Also, what difference does the phrase civil war make? Either way it's not good over there, be it a civil or an insurgency. Who cares.

That's a crime against peace, folks, not to mention treasonous threat to national security. Colin Powell should be tried in the Hague.

    Don't tell me he was lied to, I was paying attention to the news and world events all through that time, and I saw the whole trainwreck. Powell was not lied to, instead he was one of the chief water-carriers of the Bush administration's prolong propaganda campaign to sell the war. Remember the ridiculous bio weapons trailer models and anthrax vials?

    Powell got where he was because he can be trusted to sell the lie. A craven opportunist. Remember he was also involved in the cover-up of the Me-lai massacre in the Vietnam war.
