- lsumed, on 08/31/2008, -8/+175The Labor Day barbecue is going to be awkward.
- cg4et, on 08/31/2008, -18/+95I guess if she decides to go for Obama she can join Cindy McCain's half-sister in supporting the winning candidate.
- anotherlawyer, on 08/31/2008, -31/+92If your own mother-in-law is going to vote for you, you are in trouble.
What in the hell was McCain thinking? - marabout40, on 08/31/2008, -15/+63John McCain and his models/beauty queens. He has a thing for them doesn't he? He and Palin are well suited: they both put ambition above family and country.
Nice choice, neocons. - Ymeg, on 08/31/2008, -10/+52I'm glad we have Digg to report these hard hitting stories.
- mdbeard, on 08/31/2008, -15/+55McCain is betting on Americans being so hung up on race that we will forget about: his anti-women senate voting, lack of understanding of the economy, his filthy temper, his womanizing, and in typical Republican family values left his injured wife for his mistress. To list just a few of his shortcomings and now this pick of a woman that he only met twice and spoken to once on the phone. We don't even have to dig to find three possible scandals ( trooper-gate, her son may be her grandson, lack of experience of being a leader). Not to mention how is she going to be VP when she herself does not know what the VP does everyday and don't mention her lack foreign affairs experience. Lastly, I will say as a mother, most mothers hate leaving their newborns and small children and do so unwillingly, she however is seeking more power and stress. I support women that choose to work, I am one but my kids came first and my career had to wait. Just find this curious coming from the party that screams family values. Way to put your family first. Well, if America falls for this I agree with Bill Mahr "We deserve the idiots that we elect" Don't doubt that it is possible for McCain to pull this off, this country voted for the retarded guy twice.
- patpl22391, on 09/01/2008, -19/+57.....You seriously think that McCain should take into consideration Gov. Palin's mother-in-law's opinion? I really don't know how they keep coming up with these stories. I'm sure dailykos will attempt to top this tomorrow with another sensationalistic, pathetic, non-story.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXUc5xojPiU - DD2CC2U, on 08/31/2008, -12/+46Palin's mother in law has better judgement than McCain!
- Shirleycakes, on 09/01/2008, -6/+38A mother in law who doesn't like their daughter in law? MY GOD IN HEAVEN! HOLD THE PRESS.
- kmark22, on 08/31/2008, -13/+39This is only going to get better, Huff post has vetted this lady in the last 24hours and it is NOT good. Good going johnny mac
- inactive, on 08/31/2008, -15/+41Holy *****!
- slorenzo, on 08/31/2008, -14/+38If your own family can't get behind you, then how can a country?
- geoffg, on 09/01/2008, -3/+27"Sarah Palin" could be a more popular name on Digg then "Ron Paul" at this rate.
- JumpingJack79, on 08/31/2008, -10/+29No, but seriously: what DOES she bring to the ticket? Why has McCain picked her? OK, he likes hot women, but please tell me that's not the only reason..
- inactive, on 08/31/2008, -6/+21If you were a relative of a candidate you didn't like, would you vote for them? People aren't blind to their policies just because of relations, and if they are, they are sheep.
Plus, Mother in law isn't a blood relation, so who cares. - PhilLesh69, on 09/01/2008, -3/+16wow. You really bought into that fox news story, haven't you?
It isn't Obama's brother. It is Obama's "half" brother, as in his father left him and his mother to go to Harvard, when Obama was less than 2 years old. He barely made any effort to keep in touch with his son, and then went back to Kenya after a short visit when Obama was 8 or 10 years old.
Let me ask you, dfsjotherrandomletters -- (how many other digg accounts do you have?) -- If your father left you and your mother before you were even two years old, and moved to a country in Africa and had another child, would you feel obligated to support that child? Would you have any connection to that child?
Besides, that "half-brother" is living in a nation where the cost of living is nothing like that in the US. Living on a buck a month when you live in a subsistence economy where you produce your own food, and can even build your own home and do not pay real estate taxes or all the other taxes and fees we pay in the United States, is not like someone from the US can imagine.
Often, giving more money to people who live in a world of basic subsistence only harms them, it puts them in a position where they buy luxuries that cause them to need to pay more ongoing fees to electric providers, or seed providers, or whatever else, while letting them just live their lives as they've learned to function in allows them to survive on the small amount of money they make, and all the crops and herds they raise give them all they need. Sending them money only causes them to depend on that extra money, it doesn't fix it all and suddenly create some suburbian utopia where they can watch American Idol and drive a prius. - 2ptyou, on 09/01/2008, -0/+13"I think it's great. She's a hometown girl from Smallville, USA," said Felix Bruno, 43, a masonry contractor who plowed her driveway.

Giggity. - cadmiumpaint, on 09/01/2008, -7/+19well the McCain staff didnt' do any of that stuff either...
ZING! - Xihix, on 09/01/2008, -1/+13Woman makes independent choice on who to vote for. More at 11.
But seriously, I think it's good that she said this. You should never feel obligated to vote for someone just because you're related to them... - Revacard, on 09/01/2008, -4/+16Who gives a *****? People should be voting on issues.
- aussieNickuss, on 09/01/2008, -0/+11"her lack foreign affairs experience"
Bu-bu-bu-but.....Alaska is RIGHT next to Russia!!
/sarcasm - chrillen, on 09/01/2008, -1/+11I've never understood why american media does this, why is it relevant what her mother-in-law thinks? Is she some kind of expert on the subject?
- AriaStar, on 09/01/2008, -5/+15The point is even Palin's MIL admits Sarah brings nothing to the table other than she's a woman and a conservative. So what the hell does McCain think she brings if someone who knows her well sees no point in her candidacy?
- jeebodon, on 09/01/2008, -7/+16FTA:
"Faye Palin admitted she enjoys hearing Barack Obama speak, and still hasn't decided which way she'll vote."
So she *might* vote for Obama because he's a good speaker...nice! About as good as those who vote for Obama because he's black, vote against McCain because of his teeth, or vote for McCain because Palin is a *gasp* woman.
Buried as retarded. - patpl22391, on 09/01/2008, -2/+11Joe Lieberman is pro-CHOICE, had Joe Liebermann been picked you would have seen a conservative revolt to the libertarian ticket.
- numb, on 09/01/2008, -1/+9For as long as I can remember members my family (and extended family) have had differing opinions in politics. I guess it just seems normal to me. Are most other families different?
- PhilLesh69, on 09/01/2008, -2/+10Then you haven't watched Fox News like you're supposed to.
- SeventhSon, on 08/31/2008, -10/+18What, someone and their mother-in-law have differences in opinion? Obviously something is wrong here.
- chrissku, on 09/01/2008, -3/+11Sarah's quickly learning that secrets are much easier to keep in Alaska. Welcome to the spotlight.
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -9/+17who the ***** cares? Two different people with two different view.
In other news today, Palin's great aunt's dog showed slightly more interest in Obama's acceptance speech than McCains. - icepick602, on 09/01/2008, -9/+16Who gives a flying ***** who her mother in law is voting for! get this off digg
- Unsure513, on 09/01/2008, -6/+13This just in: John McCain's great great great great great grandson is voting for Ralph Nader.
- aaabatteries, on 09/01/2008, -1/+8Nerd rage, it's serious business.
- Cattywampus, on 09/01/2008, -4/+9What are Palin's mother in law's picks for week 1 of the NFL season? We'll see if her predictive skills are worth anything.
- mahavishnu108, on 09/01/2008, -0/+5The Libertarian Party... Its doubtful many conservatives would vote Libertarian. While Bob Barr is pro-life, the Libertarian Party platform is not one of pro-life activism on the federal level. On the contrary, its easy to say that most libertarians in the LP are pro-choice. No, conservative Republicans would either vote their opinion's lesser of two evils or just stay home.
- Cattywampus, on 09/01/2008, -1/+6I gotta hand it to the Palins: they are certainly America's first family of mavericks. Sarah Palin's mother in law may not vote for her.
And her husband and older son (the one who's going off to fight in Iraq) are NOT Republicans (they are listed as "undeclared," Politico says, based on info from the Alaskan elections board or whatever it is called). - PhilLesh69, on 09/01/2008, -2/+7she's got boobies.
Most of his voter base is old men. They are all frustrated and have all of these unchristian urges every time their grand daughters bring over their hot friends.
pre-pubescent girls are the AARP voters achilles heal.
Palin is the Cinemax viewers' version of that. She's the frustrated but naughty librarian that 65 year old voters fantasize about. They think they can get laid. - sathias, on 09/01/2008, -4/+8I'm not sure that America is ready for a Mr Peterman/Elaine ticket for president
- jameshighmore, on 09/01/2008, -1/+5I wouldn't mind "getting behind" Palin, if you know what I mean.
And what I mean is sexual intercourse. - pintomp3, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4people seem to forget that mccain is not running his campaign, he only met palin twice. he didn't pick her, the campaign did. a mccain presidency would simply be another bush presidency, with the president a figurehead while the cabinet is made up of lobbyists and ceos.
- onestrawplz, on 09/01/2008, -1/+5he voted against it because it was a charade. it already is the law in illinois that doctors must provide medical care to fetuses that survive abortion. the bill was designed as a trap for politicians who would otherwise vote pro-choice...if they voted against it, the general (uninformed) public (like you) would jump all over them for being evil. yet, the bill was redundant of a law already in place. there was no reason to vote for it, as it was simply a way to manipulate pro-choice politicians into voting yes on a bill that symbolically restricts abortion rights.
- anotherlawyer, on 09/01/2008, -9/+13No I do not seriously think he should have taken into account Sarah Palin's mother-in-law's opinion, because I seriously think that the selection of her was ridiculous. It reminds me of one of those movies from the forties where some local yokel becomes President because somebody goofs.
Alaska has 600,000 residents. She was mayor of a town of 6300 before she ran for governor. But even if she were mayor of a town of 600,000 that would not qualify her to be Vice President or President.
And since McCain apparently really wanted Joe Lieberman who is staunchly pro-life, the selection of this woman to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency, makes George H.W. Bush's selection of Dan Quayle because he thought he looked like Robert Redford, seem wise. - PhilLesh69, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4plowed her driveway.
I bet he also mowed her lawn.
He probably also watered her flowers.
I bet he also fertilized her garden.
He might have even driven her home a few times.
:)
;) - sulthernao, on 09/01/2008, -4/+7McCain and his staff are just now sending people to AK to vet her.
- angrykeyboarder, on 08/31/2008, -10/+13I love it!
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -2/+5And not everyone puts material gain in front of their opinion.
- Hillsfar, on 09/01/2008, -1/+4dfsjkflasjk - a moniker made up exclusively of letters on the home row of the keyboard, is an account made up just to be able to post on Digg. :)
- t0x2c, on 09/01/2008, -0/+3Interesting experiment: If McCain were to switch tickets to a lesser known party, how many people would still vote for him? If Obama switched, how many then? Are people still voting ticket or are they actually voting people?
