- Meadow113, on 09/02/2008, -66/+543Republicans don't care about babies after they are born.
- seltaeb4, on 09/03/2008, -35/+371Republicans aren't pro-life; they're PRO-BIRTH.
- seltaeb4, on 09/03/2008, -26/+230Many young girls find themselves carrying a child, with no money, no hope, and no place to go.
This begs the question: in the instant *after* a baby has exited its mother's womb, at what point *before* the child hits the sidewalk do the Republicans lose all interest in the well-being of both mother and child? - Aaronbrook, on 09/03/2008, -23/+131This "woman" is the gift that keeps on giving. John McCain must have decided that winning would interfere with his naps and viewing of Matlock reruns and chose instead to sink his entire campaign.
- Gemfinder, on 09/03/2008, -18/+123So she says:
• No birth control! For anyone! Marrieds included!
• No abortion! For anyone! Even if Daddy is also Grampa!
• No money when you do get knocked up, by your father, by your husband, or anyone else!
• Oh, by the way, don't have sex until you're married. Unless your lover is your father, uncle, or big brother, or some rat-bastard scoundrel who just wants to put you in your place, you shameless little tramp. Then it's okay. But don't expect us to help you with your little inbred whelp.
Tell me again...she's considered pro-family WHY? - RoseSignet, on 09/03/2008, -20/+123This is absolutely ridiculous! Bristol is lucky that she has a mom who can give her health insurance and a place to live. If she were poor she would have to struggle for health care. I also think we should focus on the issues here and this article does that. This election is about the economy and the future direction on this country. Do you want to be bickering about abortion rights and teenage pregnancy all day or do you want to see some solutions for our economy and the War in Iraq?
- Phylter, on 09/03/2008, -16/+103Life is sacred, until it costs too much, or the kid is born, whichever comes first.
- algaeturd, on 09/03/2008, -17/+99How can a group be declared to be pro-life when they are pro-bombing innocent civilians?
So if we're keeping count of the record, they're hypocritical about that. Hypocritical about unwed teenage mothers (used to be bad, now good according to the evangelicals...everyone remember that...)
Where does the desperation end with these people? Do as we say, not as we do. And if you do something, we'll damn you to Hell for it until such time as we do the exact same thing, at which time it becomes 'good.' - Dundasbro, on 09/03/2008, -17/+89I have it on good authority they don't care about black people either.
- suprcharger5150, on 09/02/2008, -23/+93So would her daughter be covered?
- Berkana, on 09/03/2008, -13/+79If Sarah Palin has the political will to oppose abortion and oppose "explicit sex ed" (teaching the mechanics of reproduction, and not just the morals; how to use contraception is pretty explicit) she MUST have the political will to fund the consequences. Either that or shut up.
The Republicans consistently show political will to support things they don't have the political will to fund. "Faith based initiatives" to fight poverty, for one, and the war in Iraq, for another. The war cost us over $600 billion. Where are the $600 billion in taxes to fund it? Instead, we borrow money so the tax burden falls on the next administration. This is disgusting, and extremely irresponsible on their part. - adam07, on 09/03/2008, -8/+67"You're pre-born, you're fine. You're pre-school, you're *****."
- Carlin - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -9/+55Isn't it cheaper to give out condoms anyway?

- gedgib, on 09/03/2008, -6/+44Color also factors into that little physics equation, from what I've seen.
- PhilliesBlunt, on 09/03/2008, -6/+43Umm... it's called pro-choice, which means that you have the OPTION to get an Abortion if you want to. Don't want to get an abortion, don't get one. Why isn't that fair?
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -5/+39Actually, until the fertilized egg implants into the uterus wall it has zero viability. There is not a single doctor or scientist anywhere that thinks otherwise.
- marabout40, on 09/03/2008, -8/+41Exactly!
- TedinAsia, on 09/03/2008, -29/+61Geez... I can't keep up !
1. TrooperGate (Costing the state $100,000+)
2. Baby1Gate (Poor medical decisions endangering her son, just to give a speech)
3. Baby2Gate (What are the statutory rape laws in Alaska and when was her birthday...hockey boy...ohh and how do you explain this http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Bristol_Palin_s_ ... ?...nice.)
4. CarwashGate (Surprise, the state took away your company for failing to pay your bills)
5. AlaskaWants2becomeIt'sOwnCountryGate (She will need those pesky Polar Bears to defend herself from those pesky Ruskies)
6. StevensCorruptionGate (Hmmm... she was Director of his political group)
7. ... what next... - PeppermintPig, on 09/03/2008, -8/+39Ignorance is its own punishment. I shouldn't be forced to pay for the mistakes of others.
Now we have ignorant people voting for ignorant politicians. An exceptionally dangerous mix. - pintomp3, on 09/03/2008, -6/+37palin is against abortion even in cases of rape. are you saying victims of rape should "pay the price"?
- bubba9999, on 09/03/2008, -5/+35Being married to a douchebag will be punishment enough.
- wearywanderer, on 09/03/2008, -6/+35... "The explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support," she wrote in a 2006 questionnaire distributed among gubernatorial candidates....
Seriously folks, which century is she from? I would expect to hear rhetoric like this from a religious leader in a developing country that's trying to shake of the shackles of a traditional mindset, not the governer of one of states of the United States of America.
And there's serious chance she's gonna be 2nd in command of the entire nation? Seriously folks, wake up and smell the coffee... Americans are moving backwards... - jennebarbour, on 09/03/2008, -13/+40Well, all families are supposed to be able to bear the burden of the removal of choice, don'tcha know, or rely on the nearest available church, I guess, and not bother The People with the costs and needs of a newborn, even if it's funding a program aimed at getting these young women on their feet, educated, and ready to get out on their own with their new child.
Embarrassing, vile, infuriating... - apothekari, on 09/03/2008, -5/+32@ChronicColonic
The Republicans held Both houses and the Senate and The supreme court.
If Roe vs Wade was EVER gonna be dealt with it was then.
Guess What...NOTHING HAPPENED!!
We liberals don't LIKE abortion any more than you do,But the reason it's not going to be overturned is a simple one.
It is a horrible but necessary evil in our society.
It was made legal because despite your feelings that "it ought not to happen" it does anyway,Just like teen pregnancy and drug abuse.
And the Republicans know this like ALL the other things they use a like a crowbar to keep you loyally voting Republican.
They outlaw it and they can't use it to get you folks to froth at the mouth and scream at us liberals.
And yet You buy in to it EVERY SINGLE TIME like a good little soldier. - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -7/+33Jerrycurley,
Oh, you want evidence of that, how about a hypothetical game then. For whatever reason you are in a fertility clinic, and there is fire. You only have time to take one of the following. A newborn baby, or a cryogenic vat filled with hundreds of thousands of frozen embryos. You can only take one.
Hmmm, thats what I thought, I'm glad you agree;) - Meadow113, on 09/02/2008, -16/+40Not sure if they have a sliding scale for that or not. They got 20 percent less money because of her actions though.
- Diggnabbit, on 09/03/2008, -2/+24I'm an Obama supporter, but even I think that this can be pretty easily explained. I mean, cutting back from $5 million to $3.9 million doesn't really sound like "slashing" the budget so much as trimming it down in an attempt to have a more balanced budget. I mean, if she has line item veto power, she didn't really have to compromise if she actually opposed the program.
- Gemfinder, on 09/03/2008, -6/+28Or fight in their wars.
- jguy584, on 09/03/2008, -8/+29It's called netting the christian demographic.
Those babies are "god's children" and those civilians are "god's enemies" (who just so happen to sit on oil rich lands). - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -12/+33It's not the government's job to cover for your screw-ups.
- kolobcreek, on 09/03/2008, -9/+30Why doesn't PRO-CHOICE also mean PRO-CONSEQUENCES? I would expect this group to be a bit more understanding of Gov. Palin's daughter. She had her choice and she made it. Now you're blaming Gov. Palin for not taking her daughter's choice away from her? Or do girls need to live in under dictator like parents until their 18?
- jaxcs, on 09/03/2008, -12/+32The truth does hurt, which is why you spout bull *****.
- chaosium, on 09/03/2008, -8/+28"Some Republicans do care"
No doubt, just not those the politicians are trying to appeal to. - pdross2000, on 09/03/2008, -17/+37http://24ahead.com/blog/archives/007978.html
Palin actually almost tripled the budget but nice lie. - amoro99, on 09/03/2008, -3/+22UM Republicans believe that it's their place to restrict the rights of the born (the mothers). Hypocrite much?
- SammyJr, on 09/03/2008, -4/+23Are you kidding? Of course Republicans care about babies once they're born. They want them born into a life of poverty so they have no choice but to enlist as soon as possible. That rough life translates into soldiers who won't complain when Haliburton serves them rotten food.
- flashback99, on 09/03/2008, -8/+27Come on, we ALL know the reason why, let's stop pretending: Religion.
- amoirae, on 09/03/2008, -5/+24How odd.
My mother had no money, no hope at one point, and no place to go.
She did have government help in raising me. Food stamps and welfare.
And my family is considered to be within the top 5% tax bracket. - bbtweb, on 09/03/2008, -3/+21Are you kidding me? The Republicans - the same people who believe they can push their idea of pro-life on everyone and take away a woman's right to make her own decision regardless of the outcome, happen to also be the same people who believe it's not the government's place to be involved in helping teenage mothers who really are in need of the help once the baby is born...unfreakinbelievable
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -9/+27Except if you're a Republican and lie to Congress and the American people in order to start an illegal war that kills hundreds of thousands of innocent people, apparently.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 09/03/2008, -2/+20kolobcreek do you always explain the joke?
- amoro99, on 09/03/2008, -1/+18Or pro-rapist's paternal rights -- it's just a matter of semantics yes?
- goes211, on 09/03/2008, -11/+28Why is it that tax dollars are spent on this? Sounds like it should be a charity. If you think it should be government, why only $5 million and not $50 million?
Do you people ever use your brain and think about what government SHOULD be doing or is it just an emotional thing that every problem needs a state solution? - WoollyMittens, on 09/03/2008, -5/+22The election didn't get handed to McCain in 2004.
- appleofdischord, on 09/03/2008, -2/+18I couldn't agree more. I have called myself prolife for a long time, but now I find myself examining that position because while I believe that abortion is unequivocally wrong, I believe that is *more* wrong to have women that are convinced they cannot care for a child, or who fear for the safety of their own lives and futures try to carry out a self-induced abortion and seriously injure themselves.
If you really want to reduce the number of abortions, take steps to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies. - bjornski, on 09/03/2008, -5/+21Shhhhhhhh.
Be nice to Jerry. I'ts not nice to pick on the mentally disabled. - Kyrgizion, on 09/03/2008, -4/+20Why would she care? I bet she's covered for life, regardless of state/national policy.
"It's who you are..." - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -2/+18It's more an anti-sex thing, imho.
