- EireDuck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It should be noted that it's the beginning of the fifth year and sixth year respectively, not technically the anniversaries. It is technically the fourth and fifth anniversary. Would edit the main entry if I could. :)
- Fairygoatfather, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Democracy isn't something given by the state; it's something fought for and gained by the people from the state...
- Irimi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Is there any blog ring that is for sticking the war out until democracy in the middle east takes hold?
- RedValley, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Mine (http://weathergirl84.blogspot.com) is an "inblogural" member blog of this project (that is, one of the 217 mentioned that joined on or before the war's fourth anniversary). Having glanced at several other member blogs, I can tell you that this movement is a diverse one...and that's a good thing! Some bloggers are opposed to the war because they feel it is primarily about oil. Others oppose it because they are principally opposed to armed conflict. Still others oppose for religious reasons. Others still seem to feel the war is unwinnable and thus futile. The diversity of this movement demonstrates that the Iraq War isn't just a political topic to be discussed and debated on Hardball on MSNBC, but rather one that cuts across political, religious, and national boundaries, and affects us all on one level or another. Won't you add your voice and help make all of us heard?
- jennyg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I am a middle-aged mama from the suburbs and I proudly add my voice.
- explorelife, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I have a blog called Explore Life Journal and it is about creating peace, living with purpose and having a passion for making a difference int he world. I also have a separate website and peace org at www.peace-together.com

- tracyaa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2i'm an american in the uk and want to express great pleausre at the release of the 15 british sailors/marines!!!
see mr bush...quiet diplomacy does work!!!!!! - guerrillablog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Hardline GOP'ers tend to forget that not everyone thinks like them; the ones I've encountered tend to generally distill the anti-war view into some neat, simple (insulting, unflattering, hysterical...) explanation that Hannity, Limbaugh or Coulter advanced on the motivations of those who oppose the war... It's a comfortable self-delusion that they engage in to avoid the reality. We are not Legion (the Biblical demon, that is), as they claim, but we certainly are many.
Oh, and I am happy to say that I also a member of the 217. - woz49, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Pro Peace here in Tasmania, Australia.

- Bluebear2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Irimi,
Bush's call for Democracy means only one thing to the Neocons - OIL!
Beyond that it's all just a ruse to gain control of the world's oil supply.
Inblogural: Lair of the Blue Bear http://bluebear2.blogspot.com - tracyaa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2no offense but democracy in the middle east to take hold??? how many centuries do you think that will take???
i think democracy is an honourable goal but i think economic stability and seeing different cultures learn to co-exsist side by side is all we can hope for in our lifetime... - I3IVIIVI, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Dear Irimi,
Invasion, occupation, dropping bombs, destroying infrastructure, torture, killing, fostering factional violence, imposing laws featuring give-aways to foreign oil companies... where do you see war leading to democracy?
Initial member, blog for peace: http://melanconent.com/blog - mloutre, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Looks like the blog that I'm managing editor of -- http://www.democracycellproject.net/blog/ -- is one of the inblogural Gang of 217 as well. (I couldn't remember exactly when we joined up, I had to go check the list *ahem*) The other blog that I co-edit isn't on the list for possible conflict of interest reasons; but given the guy whose website it's part of, I think that it definitely qualifies under the opposing-the-war criteria as a non-listed co-conspirator too: http://blog.johnkerry.com
- intrepidflame, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I just wanted to mention how important it is that we all add our voice to working for peace. Please check my blog under the category "peace" to see where i stand o the issues. Great project. Keep it up.
