- donkeyshow, on 10/10/2007, -9/+51The show is a little gimmicky, with all the flashing graphics...but its hard to top a worked up Olbermann reaming some deserving asshat.
- JCSaint, on 10/10/2007, -6/+44I love the show but never get to watch it because of my schedule. NBC already releases Meet the Press as a complete podcast but they only give you about 10 minutes of Countdown. Just give me Countdown and even let the commercials in there if you want, NBC.
- MikeMitchell, on 10/10/2007, -11/+45Olberman and John Stewart are America's last hope
good work NBC! - WasabiBomb, on 10/10/2007, -6/+24NBC could roast Republican babies alive and feed them to Democrats, and it still wouldn't be as biased as Fox.
- UglieJosh, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16I bet that those two idiots know when to use "two", rather than "to", when appropriate...
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15It's impossible to top him in those situations. His 'special comments' are one of a kind.
- unknownsoldierX, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Well, you're part of what is wrong with this country. I'm only 25, but even I can remember when the news told people what they needed to hear, not what they wanted to hear.
I realize I sound like an elitist, which I myself detest, but there's no other way to say it. Anyone who truly puts celebrity news above other events in the world around them is worthless. - freexstate, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Olbermann used to be an ESPN anchor.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olbermann#Career_at_ESPN - whatthefu, on 10/10/2007, -5/+17Olbermann is nothing like Murrow. I have nothing against the man, but I am very into Murrow-related things. Sure, he may try to emulate him and even use "good night and good luck," but Murrow was not simply a pundit.
- keyboardduder, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14no, Keith FTW
NBC refuses to report on worthy things that we should we worried about. Like the truth on elections and such. So ***** NBC - tolbs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11lighten up ese.
- Niffer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9From a p51d007 comment a few lines up:
"dugg down because you said "dude"....obviously you have no grip on the English language."
Dugg down for hypocrisy, though it was kind of funny. What a troll. - merwin, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12Is that why the article states it's up 88% since last year? Yeah, his ratings are terrible! Please provide a source for these "flat ratings" you talk about
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -7/+15I didn't know about Keith Olbermann until recently... but damn! this guy is awesome!
He's like the exact opposite of Bill'O Reily... lol XD - felman87, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Wasn't Seth McFarlane on the show once? He's got my vote
- merwin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8That is my favorite comment today :)
- afruff23, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Much asking Yoda could he.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Dugg up for your uncanny ability to Navigate Digg's comment system.
- kindrobot, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8"but Murrow was not simply a pundit."
Oh, but he'd be called one. - MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Murrow ftw. Olbermann honorable mention.
- givemereplay, on 10/10/2007, -7/+12Thank you NBC! This man deserves all the time he can get! He is one of the few... nay, the only television broadcaster who consistently keeps an eye on the issues and criticizes the government. The rest of the media in infotainment with the focus on the latter. Olbermann might be 50/50, but he's head and shoulders ahead of the competition; and he does his homework.
- gwhardyiv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Jesus, I must be old enough to be Digg's grandfather. The Big Show? Dan and Keith? Nevermind.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8No one watches msnbc. I like Keith and I never see his show except in clips posted on the net.
But why is his show coming on before a football game? This isn't going to work.. - smacksaw, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7FOX should have Bill O'Reilly be the morning host of the NFL on FOX pregame show.
I bet you'd he'd get Terry Bradshaw to shut up.
No, I shouldn't say that. I'm a Steelers fan.
Actually, yeah. Bill-O would win. - TBolt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6"Mr" is a nicer description than I'd like to use.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Opposite in one way. O Reilly lies, Olbermann tells the truth.
Heck you could still say that even if he lied a little. O Reilly? Wasn't there a study that said he lied about 5 times a minute?
Something crazy like that... - Kinkistyle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Uhh no. Thats exactly what NOT to do. Thats called selling out. He became a hit doing what he's doing now, don't fix something thats not broken.
- merwin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Murrow wasn't at all smug?
- ichbinladen, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9I like Olberman but don't care for his show's focus on celebrity news. Weird move for NBC though...
- gwhardyiv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4What kind of "Murrow-related things" are you into? You wouldn't also happen to be into "George Clooney related things," would you?
- neoform, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7It's true, but olberbann is one of the only anchors not afraid to speak the truth about this administration, murrow was the same in that sense, even if he wasn't a pundit. (there aren't any more anchors like murrow any more.. which is a real shame)
- gwhardyiv, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Uhhh...that's kind of the point of the show. Keith pretends to be Ed Murrow. If he wants to do primetime, he needs to cut down on the Fox News style graphics, stop using the word "sir," and cut out the "good night and good luck" crap.
- anjinash, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I'd rather not, thank you. You could try ***** yourself though.
- Stereotype77, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I'd assume they have a pretty good relationship. Seth gave him the 'stewie voice' for his Factor Fiction piece.
- SkeeterVT, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3. . .Especially since punditry as we know it today didn't exist during Murrow's time. Truth is, Murrow pioneered it on "See It Now."
- didiman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"up 88%" is a meaningless statement without context.
- ericpp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I know he used to be on ESPN. Just not sure what his current Countdown program has to do with football...
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -9/+11Olberman reminds me of Edward R. Murrow... only slightly smug... and therefore not as good as Murrow, but still awesome.
- Pile, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You may not be aware of this, but REALITY HAS A LIBERAL BIAS.
If you watch Fox news you'd think the average person in America is the CEO of a multinational corporation. That's not the case. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Personal experience.... He gives a lame BJ, although he loves doing it.
- Pile, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It's accurate. Bush wasn't technically elected. He was installed by the US Supreme Court which suspended the vote counting process.
Now if only we could get journalists to stop using the word "war" to describe what's going on in Iraq, because Congress did not declare war, and we are not technically at war. - merwin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4And Keith was on Family Guy this season too.
- didiman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Murrow, are you joking?
- Pile, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3This is really good news. Maybe Keith can demonstrate to other anchors what actual journalism entails.
- ColonelJessup, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7NBC must really be hurting for ratings if they bring Olbermann and his Bush Derangement Syndrome, celebrity tabloid style reporting, and silly "worst person in the world" skit to public television.
The television needs less of this shock value, in your face, "I'm right, you're wrong" style of reporting. It's "hurting" America.............. - JonFugeEveryone, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2He did severely bash the democrats when they approved the continued funding of the Iraq war so he has more of a liberal bias than a democrat bias. He's out to defend our liberties in a lot of his special comments so I say let him have his bias, he makes us more free.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5If all things were equal, George Bush would be stood in front of a firing squad.
"Mr" is certainly far more then what he's deserved. - Kinkistyle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Before he was the kickass news commentator he is now, he was a kickass sports commentator.
- ahknight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2dude...
- minox, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7Good job. You officially are unable to spell both names properly. And yet you put all your hope in them?
