- anarchist101, on 03/28/2009, -52/+513Ron Paul..a truly honest politician.
- Risingashes, on 03/28/2009, -19/+390It's hard not to feel betrayed when Obama stands up there and perpetuates the false attitude that those who want legalisation are irrational dropkicks with no argument.
The evidence for legalisation is overwhelming in economic, moralistic, and rational terms. Tax revenue, lower prices, taking money out of the hands of criminals, stopping the incarceration of productive citizens and increasing civil freedom- with the only downsides being poorly constructed 'boogie man' propaganda.
It's time to stop treating rational arguments like a joke. If Obama can't act rationally on such a clear cut issue then there is no hope for him. - inactive, on 03/28/2009, -17/+336Obama has admitted to smoking marijuana himself, yet he thinks people should still go to prison for using it. So Obama believes he should have gone to prison? It's a shame that he laughs off the idea of giving people more personal freedom.
I prefer the logic of Ron Paul, who himself has never used marijuana, yet will not tell others how to live their lives. In a truly free society, adults should be able to choose what they want to put in their own bodies. - fightingforair, on 03/28/2009, -14/+276Harvard professors, endless doctors, police chiefs, politicians, and concerned citizens voicing their opinion on the internet.
Mr. President, with all these people clamoring for change, its not what it says about the people on the internet, what does that say about You? - libbb, on 03/28/2009, -5/+251While it may get a little repetitive to us that are enlightened to the fact that prohibition simply isn't working, but it's going to take a while to undo all the propaganda and brainwashing that the majority of society still believe, especially with marijuana.
- dylio, on 03/28/2009, -17/+191People voted for you, Obama, because they thought you would bring in policy reform (including that of Marijuana), not laugh at them.
- Ne007, on 03/28/2009, -20/+144Ron Paul would have been a much better choice people. Remember that next time...vote for the best candidate, don't vote for the person you think may win.
- TheNyquilKid, on 03/28/2009, -3/+102Honestly, what Marijuana needs is an ad campaign. Something with a real budget. Just like the anti-drug commercials have.
First commercial:
*Pro legalization celebrity walking into a college lab saying *
"Marijuana has been vilified for decades, so we came to this lab that is currently doing a study on links between marijuana and cancer. This is *insert name of scientist here*, Sir, what did your study find?"
"Well *celebs name*, we found a conclusive link between cancer and marijuana, Turns out in our tests we have discovered that marijuana slows the spread of cancer and even kills cancerous cells."
"But Doctor, The anti-drug people say marijuana causes cancer."
"I know *celebs name*, they are ***** liars."
*Voiceover*
"They call it dope for a reason, because you would have to be one to believe their *****."
"Marijuana: My anti-drug." - Kombaiyashii, on 03/28/2009, -30/+125I wish I voted for that guy now...
- Javy42, on 03/28/2009, -0/+93gotta love how much he loved the internet crowd when he was running... now he writes us off as a bunch of potheads
- tza999, on 03/28/2009, -14/+89Indeed.
I think Obama ***** up pretty big right there. We are the ones that put him in office, he shouldn't be laughing at us. - kiesow567, on 03/28/2009, -4/+74Why aren't more politicians as level headed and fact-driven as Ron Paul?
I'm not saying I agree with all his ideas, but this hits the nail on the head.
It really is a shame there aren't more politicians like him . . . I think the USA would truly become "the land of the free" - indythought024, on 03/28/2009, -6/+69I must admit, I feel like a dumb ass for believing all of Obama's "hope" and being inspired and wasting my first election vote on him. A guy who once used the substance ( along with coke) sits there and pokes fun and gets a laugh from people that use cannabis just shows me that he is just another ***** bag of a politician. Ron Paul on the other hand, that man speaks the truth and doesn't care what the douches in Washington think.
- inactive, on 03/28/2009, -3/+65Entire clip of Stephen Baldwin Vs. Ron Paul
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufekh_SwZd0 - MasonZombie, on 03/28/2009, -0/+56Sadly, this is true.
I cringed when they started laughing when Obama mentioned marijuana.
It's like they are all like: "Ha ha ha. Silly internets..."
Complete and total dumbasses. - FrayWing, on 03/28/2009, -3/+59Why would people be laughing at the question? Its completely feasible, and has been nothing but the highest media subject as of late.
Reminds of using a fake audience like in a game-show to promote viewers think its funny, or ridiculous.
Wishing a changed my vote now... - FreeTalkLIve, on 03/28/2009, -6/+61Government is the root of most problems.
All of you that scream for your red or blue team can't see the forest for the trees. - inactive, on 03/28/2009, -4/+58A good president would put principle over politics.
- y0y0howsdajell0, on 03/28/2009, -11/+65I never remember hearing him say anything about legalizing it, but I would hope that he would at least CONSIDER it instead of making fun of the question.
Obama is slipping fast... - GordonClass, on 03/28/2009, -3/+54Problem is we need to get rid of those in the congress and senate who oppose it. I haven't smoked weed in 30 years but everyone is right it's not as bad as alcohol. I've seen way more lives ruined by alcohol and it's legal.
- suspid, on 03/28/2009, -5/+53Obama and Ron Paul and marijuana
If you would've just gone with 'fail' instead of 'mistake' you would have the biggest Digg story on our hands - inactive, on 03/28/2009, -11/+58That's what he said, but then a week later the Feds came in and raided a medical marijuana dispensary:
http://www.examiner.com/x-4172-Sacramento-Statehou ... - AuriniDMJ, on 03/28/2009, -5/+47I'm waiting for a reporter to ask him, "President Obama? When are you planning to pay your debt to society." After having admitted to smoking marijuana, he has no moral grounds to hold people in prison until he himself has submitted to the punishment he is due. There ought to be a few thousand presidential pardons flying out of the white house right now.
His presidency is turning out pretty much like I thought it would; exactly like a McCain, or even a Bush. A new coat of paint doesn't change the ongoing war, the ongoing illegal detainees, the Big Spend government, or the hypocrisy. - Igrift, on 03/28/2009, -2/+44Those people in the back round laughing when Obama brings up the question that propoesl to legalize marijuana, piss me off. Then they have the audacity to clap when Obama says he doesn't agree. ***** sakes they annoy me.
- anaclagon, on 03/28/2009, -1/+41A ***** retard can do the math and come to the conclusion that the legalization of marijuana would do wonders for our economy. The only people that are going to smoke marijuana are the ones who are already going to smoke marijuana legal or not. I don't understand the logic in not taxing it. I can get weed at the drop of hat and I barely even smoke but if my paraplegic friend calls me up and needs an ounce or more I can get within an hour. The war on drugs specifically marijuana is a ***** joke and more importantly a waste of our taxes.
- jbnumba1, on 03/29/2009, -3/+41The 3rd party would gain SO many votes if the whole "you're wasting your vote" argument would die.
That and if Ron Paul hadn't been blackballed by the MSM. - PorcusWallabee, on 03/28/2009, -5/+42Did that ***** president just call us diggers potheads?
Yea, yea i think he did...sonamabitch.
i feel betrayed. - NorthMass, on 03/28/2009, -0/+36"It would, sadly, be political suicide to support it right now."
No it wouldn't, 40% of the country want it legalized. That 40% would love Obama just for that fact. And I doubt most of the other 60% would suddenly turn against him. He is just a pandering politician who is not different than Bush but he is extremely charismatic, that is the change. - akchrs, on 03/28/2009, -11/+44Obama owned you.
- NoTiG, on 03/28/2009, -2/+34Don't you love how obama did not address the actual argument but just said no "i don't think so" ? Perhaps he did not want to make an actual reason because there could be weaknesses in that reason? Gotta love how politicians avoid issues.
- inactive, on 03/28/2009, -27/+58I don't know why this is still an issue. It's been said 38932 times already: drug users are the lowest priority for this administration right now, and he's said multiple times if states choose to legalize, the feds won't jump in. Which is how it should be.
Hell, he has the most lenient "drug czar" appointed.
If states want to legalize it for their own economic growth, they can. - kingvitaman, on 03/28/2009, -0/+31yeah. the raids haven't stopped. Therefore he is a liar. Just another politician. nothing more. nothing less.
- LordVance, on 03/28/2009, -0/+31The problem is any time someone tries to begin the conversation they are immediately dismissed as a pot head. Personally I've never smoked a joint in my life, but I still adamantly support marijuana legalization (at the very least, reform the severe tone with which we treat marijuana - there is no excuse for it to be a schedule 1 drug).
- AuriniDMJ, on 03/28/2009, -6/+36I suppose if he defended a KKK member's right to free speech, you'd say that he was a racist? I'm not even that big of a Ron Paul fan, bu read the context before you criticize him..
- inactive, on 03/29/2009, -10/+40Ron Paul.. the voice of common sense.
- skrapinov, on 03/28/2009, -10/+40It's been said, but really he is so far left, legalizing marijuana would be incredibly divisive and split the country further along party lines. I'm betting he doesn't give a ***** if people want to get high, but won't take the issue for the sake of political expediency.
As far as I see it, legalizing marijuana and most drugs would be great and I am SURE the results would speak for themselves. Mexico would love us, Columbia would do better and we could FINALLY stop spending billions on a war that is becoming an anachronism. We're all tired of throwing money at arms manufacturers to fight a war most (sane) people don't want to fight. - Abatrour, on 03/28/2009, -0/+30Don't just blame Obama, All presidents after JFK have been corrupt.
Blame the people who tell obama what to do, the lobbyists, the media, and blame yourselves for letting this ***** go on for so long. - odigity, on 03/29/2009, -1/+31Not the point. If you believe it's right to lock people in cages for smoking pot, and you've smoked pot, you should turn yourself in. Otherwise you're a hypocrite.
- ipushmycar, on 03/29/2009, -2/+31this is pretty much it. he won by grabbing the younger, more internet savvy audience, and now that hes president, he pretty much tells them to ***** off.
obama is a piece of *****. i dont care what anybody says, the only change he brought to the table was skin color. - BrianD2, on 03/28/2009, -4/+33Ron Paul 2012. Don't ***** up again America.
- gitchie, on 03/28/2009, -7/+35Nowhere did he say he supports banning sodomy. He is simply saying that the state of Texas, and not the Federal Government has the authority, by the Constitution, to do so, if it so chose to.
- baillingskater, on 03/28/2009, -3/+31agreed
- bb5999, on 03/28/2009, -9/+36The American masses do not deserve RP

- Tehcheat07, on 03/29/2009, -5/+31I met the Dr. last night at the campaign for liberty regional conference "freedom celebration" in St. Louis. He is a truly great american. If only we had 534 more legislators with any sense of integrity in washington, we would actually start cleaning up this mess.
- inactive, on 03/28/2009, -1/+26Pardon all nonviolent drug offenders.
- cl2yp71c, on 03/28/2009, -1/+26Fire all of the politicians. WOOO!!
My logic behind that, these individuals are supposed to defend the rights of the people, to do the morally right thing, not to play this idiotic game of politics.
A revolution is dearly in order. - LetitDrop, on 03/28/2009, -1/+26Stephen Baldwin is a tool hehe.
- CaptainCool53, on 03/28/2009, -3/+27He never should have appointed a drug czar.
