- Solkre, on 10/30/2009, -27/+142Am I the only one who voted for Obama, and don't hold him to height of a God?
He was the better of the choices we were given, that's how all elections work. - ayeroxor, on 10/30/2009, -47/+160Oh YAWN. ANOTHER article about how Obama is a real person and can't perform magic faster than real life allows?
People, get over yourselves. Nobody thought otherwise but apparently you. - kingofinternet, on 10/30/2009, -32/+105idiocy. the only people who seem to call obama a messiah figure or a star are the media and the far right.
millions of voters just thought he was the man for the job. and he is. - BasalCellBossk, on 10/30/2009, -39/+92Oh, look, it's another episode of "When Bitter Partisan Shills Masturbate and Gibber"
- darkescaflowne, on 10/30/2009, -26/+78This article is written by a sensationalist seeking to make mountains out of molehills, Virginia is a republican state that rarely votes Democrat so if it goes to republicans how is that any different than business as usual.
Buried for being a Republican circle jerk article. - peestandingup, on 10/30/2009, -25/+70Judging him a bit early arent we?
Besides, you douche bags were rooting for his (our) failure from the beginning. Dont act like you werent. - bsmang, on 10/30/2009, -16/+55Apparently those who don't like him and didn't vote for him are the ones who think he was supposed to be a god. I guess they just wanted to be able to point at anything and everything and say, "it's less than a god would have done!"
Of course then again, after 8 years of W, I suppose just about anyone who was not totally delusional might have appeared god-like. - localzuk, on 10/30/2009, -7/+4112months? I thought he entered office on January 20th? So, that'd make it 9 1/3 months. Not to mention the fact that that time is a incredibly short period in which to get anything done. Just going through the crap left by the last administration would take that long!
- ayeroxor, on 10/30/2009, -22/+55The only people I ever see mentioning Obama and "messiah" in the same sentence are bumpkin conspiracy theorists. Congratulations, BCT's, you just outed yourselves.
- WasabiBomb, on 10/30/2009, -13/+41I voted for Obama. I was pretty happy when he won.
However, I'm pretty sure I never said, "Yes We Can." I specifically remember saying, "He's Better Than McCain". - Spinzy, on 10/30/2009, -14/+41agreed. Whole heartedly.
- portnoy, on 10/30/2009, -20/+47For the love of pete, you think it only took a few months to create the mess we're in? You think all these problems could be cleaned up by Molly Maids in a few hours, like it's all the result of a frat party? How much money and resources were flushed down the toilet over the Iran/Afghanistan wars alone? It's not like we could just end those wars on election day and get all that money back. Our country was severely damaged, maybe terminally. If it can be fixed it's going to take time. And sacrifice. When Obama was elected the country chose to change direction and that's just the start. You don't get somewhere by just changing direction, you then have to go in that new direction for a while.
- arkwald, on 10/30/2009, -16/+39Not to be too contrary but I think he still has quite a few stars up. Could you imagine any sort of meaningful health care reform even being contemplated by anyone on the right? Do you really think the economy would be brimming if we had elected anyone else? Obama is a man and is also working in a system designed to necessitate compromise. Given that and the ***** he inherited I think he is doing an excellent job.
- twiztidsinz, on 10/30/2009, -18/+39Nope...
But the butthurt, obstructionist Republicans would like you to think so. - sulthernao, on 10/30/2009, -13/+31"But even losing one of them next week will scratch the sheen of President Obama, who seems, one year on from his election, to be hovering in the view of most Americans between competent and fumbling, notwithstanding the high esteem in which he is still held abroad and, of course, in the minds of the Nobel committee."
Uh...no. I hate it when pundits try to bring national politics into local races. Obama has nothing to do with why Corzine is only in a tossup with Christie. Corzine has had ***** favorability numbers for a while now. But I see a win for Corzine. And Obama has been campaigning hard for him, because he is well liked in NJ.
And Deeds has run an awful campaign in Virginia, by basically ditching NoVa and "Washington". There is no enthusiasm for him from the Democratic base because of that, and he will lose handedly. Deeds has deviated from the road map that Kaine, Obama and other Democrats have taken to win Virginia and recent years and is getting punished for it. Besides that, McDonnell is far more eloquent than Deeds. Deeds' loss is entirely because of that and the fact that his campaign shut down for 2 months after the primary.
Guess, what national pundits? Democrats could conceivably win 3 out 4 of the major races this (CA-10, NY-23, NJ-Gov; lose VA-Gov), win marriage equality in Maine (NO on Prop 1), keep gay rights in Washington (Yes on Ref 71). And guess what, from what I can tell that does not mean a repudiation of Obama. It's absolutely ***** ridiculous what false expectation people put on him, but not on any other President. You think anyone in the media legitimately cared about the national politics of a statewide race for other Presidents? 9 months into their Presidency? - phogasmic, on 10/30/2009, -8/+25I'm tired of hearing about it. The media is so immature, real reform takes work.
- geodebug, on 10/30/2009, -15/+30Obama doesn't have to live up to the timetable or distorted reality of his detractors.
- MusicMagi, on 10/30/2009, -6/+18hahahhaah they're not even comparable. when bush was in office, the world protested. with obama in office, the world celebrates.
wake

hillbilly - phogasmic, on 10/30/2009, -15/+27***** the other side of the aisle. As of right now all they care about is getting the Presidency in 2012 and getting their majority back in COngress, despite the fact that they had all of that for six years and managed to ***** everything up.
- localzuk, on 10/30/2009, -4/+14I feel pretty safe in blaming bush, as he was the leader of the administration which left the USA in the mess it is in now, got the USA into several wars etc... Who else should we blame? You?
- WasabiBomb, on 10/30/2009, -13/+23@dadlinux- "his records are all sealed at a tax payer cost of 1.7 million and counting"
Just wondering... do you have a citation for this? Specifically, the 1.7 million dollar cost. Just wondering. - footbag01, on 10/30/2009, -9/+19Yes... Which records are being hidden? I'm not sure I get your logic of him wanting to hide his history. Unless of course you're a birther.
- falconear, on 10/30/2009, -6/+15I know...to quote Batman..."He's human after all."
I knew who I was voting for, and it wasn't a messiah, despite what Fox News likes to say. Considering the mess he walked in to, and the fact that Healthcare reform of some sort is finally going to happen, along with a climate change bill...I think he's doing just fine. - treehugger87, on 10/30/2009, -3/+11@david. Given that citation, isn't is misleading to claim that this is a "tax payer cost"? It sounds like Obama is paying some legal fees out of his political campaign. Okay, so maybe it's true that all of the people who donated to Obama's political campaign are taxpayers, but you and I are both taxpayers who do not bear the cost because we have not given money to Obama (or the DNC).
- Thuktun, on 10/30/2009, -3/+11...particularly with as fscked up as Bush left things.
- WasabiBomb, on 10/30/2009, -2/+10Strange, @DavidNiven, that you link doesn't show any actual usage of that money except to pay a lawyer. It doesn't say anything about what the money's being used for- it's all conjecture. It certainly doesn't show that it's being used to "hide" anything.
Not surprisingly, you don't seem to be very good at finding relevant links. - phogasmic, on 10/30/2009, -13/+21I hope so. Jimmy Carter did a good job considering how ***** up the late 70's were. He laid the groundwork for Reagan's successes. Given another term those successes would have been his and we would be using more alternative energy right now instead of still giving our money to the Saudis.
- marciot, on 10/30/2009, -6/+13According to the Obameter, http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/ , Obama has fulfilled 49 out of 304 campaign promises, with 127 in the works. That's 16% fulfilled, and 41% in the works. Those numbers, IMHO, are pretty darn good, since it's only 1/4 through his term. Seems like the media focuses too much on the big, extremely difficult things (like health care), without looking at all the smaller things he has done.
- geodebug, on 10/30/2009, -4/+11well that sure sounds like the whole story.
- Kate1240, on 10/30/2009, -9/+16http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P36x8rTb3jI&fea ...
keep talking... - Akairenn, on 10/30/2009, -0/+7Yeah, but Sting is a Harkonnen animal, I wouldn't listen to anything coming out of his mouth.
- shark72, on 10/30/2009, -6/+13I take exception to that. During Bush's first nine months in office, he managed to take over 30 days of vacation time. He might have ignored a memo or two about Bin Laden, but he managed to finish "The Pet Goat."
To be fair, Bush administration didn't work as hard as fixing the economy as this administration has. This is likely because the Clinton administration left him with a a $560 billion surplus. - Pepin, on 10/30/2009, -1/+8@curunir: Just remember one thing. Fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again.
- geodebug, on 10/30/2009, -11/+18Come on anti-O gutter-snipes make up your mind and stick to a single script:
How can Obama be both an overrated, incompetent who hasn't done anything and also the most devilishly clever politician in history, who came out of nowhere to propel the US toward fascism/socialism/communism/reverse-racism?
Maybe spend less time worrying about the current president and more time worrying about finding someone with any chance of beating him in the next election. (Hint: It isn't McCain, Barr, or Paul) - Vermifax, on 10/30/2009, -12/+19"documented history" Orly, is that you...?
"business experience" You mean like failed energy companies or mediocre baseball teams in TX?
"military experience" Who was the last President with any true military experience? Because, the previous President... yikes!
"foreign policy experience" You wouldn't know it by the way he's handlin' da bidness. Nice to not be embarrassed by a kegger buffoon. Eight years was enough.
"paper tiger" Really? He wasn't "shoved". He was democratically elected by the people of the United States, loser.
"Then we wonder why he can't get anything done?" I don't wonder. I know why. He, like any President, needs our support and our help, as opposed to prejudicial haterism and this Monday Morning quarterbacking. Grab a ***** mop! - arkwald, on 10/30/2009, -17/+23On the flip side, do you think you could have gotten more done? Despite how Bush and Cheney governed the Presidency is not a dictatorship.
- treehugger87, on 10/30/2009, -2/+8Brought to you by F.A.C.T.S., the Fox news Altered Content Truth System
- Moralogic, on 10/30/2009, -5/+11I was saying, there is no way in hell I am allowing Palin in any office of importance, otherwise McCain was a consideration before the economy took a nose dive. I was favoring Obama before, but McCain at least still had an honest chance. I think America made the right choice, and so does most of the US and the world.
The Republican party's actions lately are beyond disturbing, and same goes for their followers. From the birther situation to the anti-christ one and beyond, they are out of hand. Now refusing to even consider the Healthcare proposal, come on. These politicians are not even willing to have a state opt-out because they know that the majority of the people in their state will want them to opt-in. That is a sure sign that they are not doing what the people want, and they honestly don't have the people's best interest in mind. In my opinion, they should be jailed for taking advantage of their position to make profits from the insurance companies. - ygugsa295, on 10/30/2009, -4/+10I'm waiting for the DVD set. Then I'll throw out my 30 Rock season 2 because it'll be all the comedy I need.
- deslock, on 10/30/2009, -1/+7@rignopolus and charlotte_web
So a couple democrats disagree with the other 56 of them and they are more to blame than the 100% of ass republicans that are against getting any reform done?
Excellent logic sirs, excellent logic. - Thuktun, on 10/30/2009, -1/+7"He's a narcissist. Most politicians that come out of Chicago are."
And your evidence of either for these statements is what? Or are they just unsubstantiated assertions? - Number127, on 10/30/2009, -4/+10What inability to get their agenda passed? It looks like healthcare reform will be going through just fine, most likely with a public option.
And yes, Republicans are doing a very good job throwing up roadblocks. Apparently that's all they're good for anymore. It's too bad, I liked some aspects of the GOP back when they were actually trying to do what they thought was right. - AtomicTheory, on 10/30/2009, -6/+12Your point is misguided. No one is defending or praising W. He was a failure in many regards. Their point is that Obama is also failing in some regards.
- killdashnine, on 10/30/2009, -11/+17Lasting change takes time, particularly in politics. Accomplishing anything at all is sometimes a miracle.
- kingofinternet, on 10/30/2009, -1/+7uhhh, 134 was a promise kept. one of obama's campaign promises was to try and stabilize afghanistan after bush misguidedly focused on invading iraq. on a whole variety of issues obama is not following bush policy.
you are displaying a few cognitive distortions, my misguided friend. - osr3v, on 10/30/2009, -2/+8So where is the cost to the taxpayers? Your quote states this is from contributions.
- AgeofMastery, on 10/30/2009, -2/+8You do know he's following the timetable worked out between the US and Iraq to get the troops out? Might not be fast enough for you but he inherited the agreement from Bush and is honoring it.
Afghanistan shouldn't be a surprise to you, he said during the campaign he favored sending more troops, so it's not like he lied about that. - KahRahTay, on 10/30/2009, -2/+8Orly?
- rignopolis, on 10/30/2009, -4/+9A "centrist"? Seriously?
- bowens44, on 10/30/2009, -11/+16Obama has accomplished more in 11 months then that little piss ant bush did in 8 years.
BTW, Jimmy Carter was a great president, certainly a better president then any republican since Lincoln.
Seriously modern republican presidents have all been bumbling idiots . That doddering old fool reagan and the mental midget W by far the two worst presidents in recent memory. -
