- greeneyedmama, on 10/12/2007, -30/+378WTF!!!!!! Fox News is priceless. Fair and Balanced my ass.
- flernk, on 10/12/2007, -27/+366Dear Fox News,
We understand that you hate Democrats, that's clear. We also know how important it is for you to paint everyone who disagrees with you as "terrorist sympathizers" (and we know how hard you're trying to tie Islamic people with terrorism in general). But we would like to point out that Senator Obama is, in fact, a Christian. You may have overlooked this fact because you are among the least Christ-like organizations anywhere, but we thought it should be brought to your attention.
Sincerely,
Everyone else in the world. - neave, on 10/12/2007, -29/+358This is brainless, devious, racist bigotry being broadcast to millions of Americans.
If you don't like Obama, fine. Dislike the man on *political* grounds, please, but not just because his name is weird, he's a different color than you or because, horror of all horrors, he may have once upon a time been brought up with .... Muslims!! - Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -30/+239Never in my life have I wanted to do real, physical harm to a set of television "journalists." I'm not the violent sort by nature, but anyone that makes a living lying to the American public, people who are generally good but easily swayed, needs to be severely reprimanded.
Barack Obama is more than a good speaker, capable politician, and honest man. He votes with his heart and loves American soldiers. He isn't a slave to lobbyists or big business. He represents the middle class American.
Please don't take anyone's word for it. This is what Fox News wants you to do. They want you in the "who are you going to believe? Me or him?" mentality. Leave Digg, head to the library, pick up both of Obama's books. Google him, check out his voting record at http://www.ontheissues.org . You probably have a lot to do and might not have time to head to the library.
If that's the case, research him online. It really takes five minutes. Do stay away from the following partisan blogs, which are nothing less than absolutely *****: Little Green Footballs, The Huffington Post, The Daily KOS, Michelle Malkin, Debbie Schlussel, HotAir.com, Thinkprogress, Townhall.com, anything having to do with Michael Moore, anything having to do with Anne Coulter.
The problem with these sites, other than their poor writing and even worse research skill, is that they try hard to push an agenda on the readers. I would check out op-eds from credible newspapers which are available electronically. (Chronicle, NY Times, WaPo, Chicago Sun-Times, Reuters, AP, BBC, etc. etc.) While all opinion editorials push an agenda, these don't try and sound nonpartisan. As an added bonus, most of these writers went to school for journalism, so you won't find a lot of snark in their comments.
It takes as little as ten minutes to find a few quality sites to read up on. Then form your opinion on Obama. Again, don't take my word for it, and certainly don't listen to Fox News. Educate yourself and form your own opinion.
Obama's contributions and love for man and country speak for themselves. - CasaMan, on 10/12/2007, -42/+180You Americans are crazy.. It seems you can't be a non-christian if you want to have a political career even when there is "separation of church and state ".
God forbid if you are muslim.. - ezweave, on 10/12/2007, -18/+142I hate to marginalize a group of people, but middle America is full of such hateful people, it's so sad.
Even at my office building, I hear other people (not co-workers) slandering Muslims (I know that Obama is not a Muslim, just making a point)... "Those people just want to kill us all..." and "Muslims should never be allowed in office..." Can someone pinch me? Are we going to establish Jim Crow laws for Muslims now?
Scary stuff. - ajb2015, on 10/12/2007, -19/+136just when i think fox can't get anymore ridiculous...they do.
- hoppdawg, on 10/12/2007, -14/+98How could any reputable companies advertise on fox? This is outrageous and I'm a conservative.
- Kryptik1, on 10/12/2007, -11/+95The idiocy and swiftboating is beyond comprehension. My brain legitimately hurts after reading that and watching the video. It's just such a baldfaced smear. And like the smoking thing, they act like he had the gall to hide it...when the man freakin' said so both times in his own book. If he had to hide such things, you don't hide them in a tell-all book available at a Barnes & Noble for 15 bucks.
Fox News, you were always low...but this is just moronic, and does nothing to help any sort of discourse. - toosense, on 10/12/2007, -9/+80this is a complete lie. He talks about attending a Muslim School in his autobiography.
He attended an elementary school, not a madrassa, not a seminary. And he attended it for two years, from the ages of six to eight.
He also attended a catholic school. Is Obama a covert agent for the POPE?!?!?!?!?!?
He also wrote about it in his autobiography. Where's the coverup? - rabadi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+61I attended a Christian madrassa in Jordan. Madrassa = school in Arabic. The idiots at Fox are deliberately misconstruing the term in order to satisfy their biased agenda and galvanize the naive by brainwashing them into thinking that the term madrassa carries a negative connotation.
- greeneyedmama, on 10/12/2007, -7/+61He spent 2 formative years at a Muslim school! So he's been hiding out as a respectable, hardworking American for all these years, just waiting for the call from Indonesia to flip out and become a terrorist? This has been Al-Qaeda's master plan for 40 years. Get a radical Muslim (which is neither radical or Muslim) terrorist in the White House. I would have to tip my hat at that.
- Xageroth, on 10/12/2007, -8/+53Damn this is getting ugly real fast.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+50Fox news is unamerican.
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -2/+43Most of everything I wanted to say has been said but I'd like to just mention:
Madrassa is the Arabic word for school... it has no religious connotation in Arabic, however the English language seems to have put one to it.
Also, it's pronounced med-ress-a FYI. - thepeacemaker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+43"Madrassa" is the Arabic and Urdu word for school. ALL the schools in middle east and in the Urdu speaking regions of south asia are called madrassas.
- TheCod, on 10/12/2007, -11/+40That is the most racist clip I have ever seen on the news. They are just pissed off that he confessed to everything about his past and everyone accepted it and moved on, so they have no other way to smear him.
- toosense, on 10/12/2007, -6/+33In English, the term Madrassa refers to a university level/post graduate school.
In Arabic, it refers to any school. Fox is exploiting the translation. - DoctaStooge, on 10/12/2007, -11/+38Does everyone remember the uproar over John F. Kennedy when he ran for president? The opposition said "how can you trust a person who takes his cues from the Pope?". If religion wasn't a big factor then, why is it now? I understand a lot of people are scared of "terrorists", but the media makes it seem like "all terrorists are Muslims". What about the Unibomber? He was a terrorist, but wasn't Muslim. I don't see what the big problem is if Obama was taught in a Muslim school. Does he want to help our nation? Does he care about the rights/liberties of the American People? Does he not want to see our troops killed in someone else's war? These are the important questions for me, not "what is his religion?"
- chaimpot0k, on 10/12/2007, -4/+31This man is going to be the next President.
- warchant, on 10/12/2007, -6/+33*sigh*
as a conservative..i hate fox news - BOOFMAN, on 10/12/2007, -13/+39The story has been reported by all major news outlets and wasn't Fox going after Obama. Hillary's people are the ones who released this info to the news media. Hillary is trying to take down the biggest obstacle in her big to get the democratic nomination.
- jayleb, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30Digg Rabadi up. I grew up in Lebanon...I graduated from my high school (U.S curriculum) which was my Madrassa!
Drassa= Study
Madrassa= A place of study!
It's like equating "The Church of the Holy Teapot" to "The Church"
So sad how the masses are easily influenced... - kyleh, on 10/12/2007, -11/+34omg the last caller takes the cake,
those are the ignorant fools that give America a bad name...get your head out of your ass, and take a serous look around.. - Fascist, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28They're scared of him.
First, they deny it. Then they try to boost their own ego. Following, they begin to attack the other. After that, they try to make themselves look better. Finally, they lose.
Then they deny losing, and blame it on a scapegoat. - KnytFyre, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24I love Fox's view point that an Islamic person is automatically a terrorist. For crying out loud, Obama is probably the most honest person to run for any political office in recent memory, so the mud kickers stir up the fact he was educated in a Muslim school. ooooohh nooooo, he may be a terrorist, he's been taught with the Muslims.
Wake up America, it's time we pull our collective heads out of the medias ass and do a little research on our own. - kyleh, on 10/12/2007, -7/+26i cant vote for her, what she stands for and her ideals are getting really outrageous, imo
- gunReb0rn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19being arab i can tell you that madrassa litteraly translates into school, it has nothing to do with being muslim
- Dyzzy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25Name one major news outlet that has reported that Obama went to a islamic fundamentalist seminary.
- artfuldodger989, on 10/12/2007, -7/+24@ Kryptik1
"If he had to hide such things, you don't hide them in a tell-all book available at a Barnes & Noble for 15 bucks."
Actually a book is the best place in world to hide something from a Fox News viewer. - Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -10/+27I'm sure she did. Thinking Democrats realize Hilary Clinton isn't fit for presidential office.
- cr4ft, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22Madrassa (pronounced med-ress-ee , not Medrossi) means school in Arabic, FOX are a bunch of ***** idiots.
Does anyone see what these idiots are doing. Look how the reporter says his middle name is HU-SS-EIN as if he's trying to smear the mans name, as if that has ANYTHING to do with his performance whatsoever.
This is absolutely disgusting on so many levels. - noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18QFever, you sir are a retard. You're among the ignorant class of people that Fox is preaching to. You have no more sense than a common rock and I hope that someone is patient enough to help you through life or kind enough to put you out of our misery.
- slickto, on 10/12/2007, -7/+24Steve Doocy is a third rate weather boy who couldn't tell the difference between low pressure, and his low intelligence. As far as Brian Kilmeade, he is supposedly a hack sportscaster. What qualifies these two guys to give an opinion on anything? Diggers should all protest this type of third rate announcing, masquerading as "journalism". By all means, boycot these two stumbling idiots, and Fox News.
- twinklyJesus, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24This is inaccurate BS. Fox reported that Hillary Clinton's campaign people released the information. They then pointed to her history of having the bet negative campaign machine in history. Fox also stated that the allegations had not been adequately investigated as to their veracity. Also, they pointed out that 40 years ago, when Obama was in school, Madrasa was like "a parochial school."
Fox did not blow this out there, Hilary Clinton is doing it to discredit Barak Obama. Thinkprogress is just trying to make it look like it came from somewhere else. thinkprogress.org is just like moveon.org, a Clinton/DNC propaganda mouthpiece. As much as many of you think that Fox News is an RNC mouthpiece, these two websites are that and more for the DNC. Go ahead, bury away... - fudgeigor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Why does the guy keep repeating that he was raised Muslim like it is a disease... there are millions of Muslims on earth, and they aren't all blowing ***** up.
- VicHislop, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21You're exactly right. It is a complete lie.
From snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp - venicerocco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16"at times"
lol - ndonohue, on 10/12/2007, -11/+26you know, I would REALLY appreciate it if non-americans would stop making sweeping generalizations about the whole country and the people in it whenever Fox News does something like this (which is often). I'm not proud of the current state of the country, but I hate being included in the same category as Rupert Murdoch and George Bush. Its really not fair.
- fudgeigor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Please, go read a ***** book.
- WasabiBomb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Dear Fox News:
Every time you insinuate oh-so-innocently that Obama won't make a good president because he's a "black might-be-Muslim smoker with a politically inconvenient name", rather than addressing the man's politics, I become just *that* much more likely to vote for him.
Thanks ever so much,
WasabiBomb - fattyman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16yeah ABC is so liberal, that's why they made path to 9/11 and hired glenn beck as a regular on Good Morning America.
NBC/MSNBC is so liberal, they have two conservative talk shows Scarborough and Tucker, but only one liberal one, Olbermann.
CBS is so liberal, they guy they choose to interview bush refers to the democratic congress as the "democrat" congress.
PBS, NPR, best news sources in the country. Sorry if they don't omit things you would rather they did, like the number of casualties in iraq. - OSDAgent, on 10/12/2007, -13/+26@CasaMan
Way to bundle all Americans together because of the actions of one news organization. You're doing the exact same thing that you accuse an entire country of doing... way to call the kettle black, ace. - fattyman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Actually there are billions of muslims, not millions. Fox news is despicable.
- kdepa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Geez. Fox is really starting to get ugly with what they're saying. It makes me mad as an arab-american that they do this. And I'm not even Muslim. I wish people would understand that
1 - Hussein is a pretty common name
and
2 - Madrassas are simply schools run by Muslims. No different than a school run by Catholics.
The even more interesting thing is that it appears that this whole smear campaign thing was started with the Hilary Clinton camp. - annonimality, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16wowbagger: "Seriously, when are you dems going to come up with an electable candidate ?... You lose AGAIN dems."
It seems wowbagger is not aware of the 2006 elections, or maybe he's just pretending they never happened. Close your eyes, and pretend it is 2004 again... yes... this is nice... - toosense, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Actually, unless you are completely illiterate, Obama talks about attending muslim and catholic schools in his AUTOBIOGRAPHY.
Clinton didn't dredge up anything. Don't you think its a little odd that this is being reported exclusively in right wing media, but supposedly comes from a left wing source? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Nevermind the fact that Obama's a devout baptized Christian now.
***** idiots. - venicerocco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14This is it folks. Politics in America, 2007. You can say you were there.
- Danjak, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17For the love of Christ.... how in the ***** can Fox get away with this?? I just don't understand. I don't understand how Republicans can get away with this. All this crap about how the main-stream media is liberal is just *****. I have NEVER heard anything as overtly liberal as compared to the overtly conservative nonsense coming out of Fox News.
This is beyond laughing about the "Fair and Balanced" trademark. This is a channel devoted to blatantly and falsely smearing people whose ideologies differ from their own. It's Rush Limbaugh repackaged as news. When newspapers do this kind of crap, they have to put it under the "Opinion" page. Fox News should have a similar disclaimer splashed up on its screen at all times. -
