- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21All lobbyists should be shot on sight (especially that asshat). Same goes for those damn pundits.
- ne0shell, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Typical of our system - you can resign from govt in disgrace and rise again as a lobbyist. Peddle influence while in office and then pimp the influence whores when you leave. WTF can't Americans wake up and start demanding an end to this ass clown circus?
- jsg7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I have no problems with lobbyists having "freedom of speech" rights. I have a problem with bribery, though. If we take away their rights to finance politicians, then we'd be in much better shape...
- gormly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Yea, there are a lot of ways to "stop them", Senators should give them no special access.
I am sure there are ways to "avoid" meetings. - fjvwing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7They can't, curbing lobbyists gets defined as a Freedom Of Speech issue. There's plenty of insight in what lobbysists are doing, there's just very little way to stop them.
- orielbean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Greater oversight and transparency are the only methods to stop big government, whether they are pushing liberal or conservative agendas. Notice that neither side is ecstatic about greater transparency.

The problem is, in our system as it currently stands, money is considered "free speech". The argument has been made (with some success amazingly) that money spent on the political process amounts to "free speech" and therefore falls under the protection of the 1st Amendment. Which is why fjvwing says that the lobbyists are exercising their free speech. There is some steps that can be taken, and probably will be under the Congress to limit the access that lobbyists have to politicians, but in the end, the money is there, and someone will take it. The entire process needs to be reworked. - williamdyer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7He sold his office, cheaply, to a notorious criminal.
'Nuff said? - bqjones, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Tom DeLay is innocent until proven guilty in the eyes of the law. Fortunately for most of us, politics and the court of public opinion are not legal courts. The guy's a sleaze bag.
- littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2DeLay is about as bottom-of-the-barrel as you can get. He's a disgusting Human Being.
- williamdyer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3FTA:
Political consultant Marc Rotterman, treasurer for the American Conservative Union, recently took aim at DeLay in a Human Events Online column republished at the ACU website. Rotterman blamed GOP losses on a "Bush Administration [which] has been hijacked by neo-conservatives who believe in 'big government conservatism,'" and have forgotten former President Reagan's "populist conservative message."
Word! - mlock2k, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5After what this A-hole has done I am surprised he isn't working at a wall-mart handing out carts to the customers. Why as Americans do we keep recycling these people in and out of our government? Is the pool of choices that narrow ?
- drmobutu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Well, I guess it's a free country - you don't expect the guy to go back to running a pest-control business, do you?
Ubdoubtedly, DeLay still has lots of friends in Washington, and Republicans are constantly whining about how poor the compensation is in the public sector anyway, so this move was not unexpected.
Actually, it's a good thing that DeLay will be getting back into politics, from the business side, this time - Thanks to his name recognition, we now have a "brand" to look for when evauating ***** legislation. - xmuzik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Satan crawls back from the abyss once again
- TopherT, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Why would you want to avoid meetings when your political enemies are going and getting funded for it? It'd be shooting themselves in the foot. The problem is structural, us peasant voters respond overwhelmingly to expensive television commercials, politicians can't pay for it themselves. Companies don't give away money, they invest it (see political favors). If anything is to be done either television spots must be restricted in regards to political messages ('freedom of speech') or money must come out of public coffers to pay for equal spots for all major candidates.
- digitap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No, i meant MARK Foley's hands to find your ass.
Tom Foley can FILM it, using night vision, and call it "*****-Hammer".
Foreplay will consist of you two talking about all the perverted things you did, in the back rooms at the capital.
And since TOM Foley, is associated with the two of you, HE can go to hell, too!
P.S. I am a registered republican. If DeLay goes to washington to work i will RE-REGISTER as a Democrat: and write THESE WORDS on a paper, before EVERY ELECTION:
NIXON
FORD
DELAY
HASTERT
ABRAMS
FOLEY
and going into the booth, i will PLACE THAT PAPER ON THE VOTING SWITCH: AND PRESS THROUGH THOSE NAMES, FOR A STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC TICKET.
I will NEVER TOUCH a Republican party voting switch, ever again. And i mean, not EVER. NO MATTER WHAT.
And Marsha, i know you'll read this, because we have two computers, side by side, in the living room, and cruise Digg for news, politics, etc. each night.
So HELP ME, no matter what. i will DIE before i touch a Republican ballot again itf DeLay goes to Washington. Now: or in the future.
sign, your loving, and soon to be Democrat husband,
Walter. - digitap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He should be put into a GIANT ZIPLOC BAG:
MARINATED with the contents, of the feminine pads from ALL THE BATHROOMS IN TEXAS:
and then thrown into a tank of sharks.
ROT IN HELL, you Sorry, Shameless, s.o.b!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He outed a woman undercover agent risking her life for the benefit of us all. What do we do about it? We pay attention to his political opinions and reward this unpatriotic scum by giving him attention that will secure his position as a "reporter."
If this generation doesn't have the determination, interest, or intelligence to do anything about it, then AT LEAST STOP REPORTING ON HIS NARROW-MINDED POLITICAL OPINIONS! - jsg7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1sorry, moved
