Hey, that last slice is mine!
Happy 4/20 - cate508, on 04/20/2009, -0/+8Nice to see this kind of discussion....has been my argument for years. I neither smoke nor drink anymore.... but have seen alcohol tear too many lives apart. It's all political.
- abcwriter, on 04/20/2009, -0/+8An informed and rational voice: bravo!
- KBCraig, on 04/20/2009, -0/+6As an active duty member of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, I thank you for this article. It's time to end the failed experiment of Prohibition, Take Two.
- Dreamzville, on 04/21/2009, -0/+6Fantastic article...yes, I am a member of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition for the sheer logic of it. Alcohol has been instrumental in ruining or ending many many more lives than marijuana ever could. Let's be logical and stop marijuana prohibition.
- gigasquid, on 04/20/2009, -0/+5Thank you for an insightful article.
New Zealand is one of the world's most punitive countries where marijuana is involved. Our corrupt, mismanaged prison system overflows with users who have hurt no-one.
At the bottom of New Zealand's barrel of deliberately-driven misinformation are the religious right-wing politicians, such as born-again Minister of Finance Peter Dunne, Minister of Corrections Judith Collins et al; the head of the NZ Medical Association; and anti-marijuana industry cartels who are threatened by and have no interest in any reality check into Marijuana for medicinal use.
I'm a 68-year old and use marijuana for dealing with chronic pain. In New Zealand I am labeled a criminal for doing so. - gerry0002, on 04/20/2009, -0/+4Thank you for the excellent article. Efforts to prohibit marijuana are a tremendous waste of time and money resources. Prohibition didn't work for alcohol either. Also lost are the significant benefits to the economy of using the broad variety of hemp products.
- CapricaSix, on 04/21/2009, -0/+3This same refrain has been stated for 30 yrs. Does anyone listen to the guys on the beat enforcing the law? Too logical.
- inactive, on 04/20/2009, -0/+3I agree man...I love people who dont smoke but see the bigger picture.
- tevogel, on 04/20/2009, -0/+3As long as drug enforcement and the prison system is a big bu$iness, drugs will be illegal.
- jeich55, on 04/20/2009, -0/+3very good article. truthful and to the point. pot is not a threat its a form of taxation which allows cops and courts to arrest users and threaten them with jail if they dont reach for their wallet. courts, lawyers and judges benefit from jailing innocent non violent offenders. legalize it and tax it. our economy is tanking and hemp and cannabis are the solution.
