- lorem1000, on 04/19/2009, -7/+667Nixon Speech if Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin had died on the Moon*
- HeDiggMe, on 04/19/2009, -2/+481This speech would've become one of those instant classic moments of the 20th century, and we're all glad it didn't.
- Crimsonsoul343, on 04/20/2009, -5/+390That speech is so good it makes me want to die on the moon.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 04/20/2009, -12/+381More evidence that the moon hoaxers don't know what they are talking about.
- Grazfather, on 04/20/2009, -1/+351Aldrin really got ***** over by being the 2nd man on the moon.
- TheSkunkMonkey, on 04/19/2009, -5/+304I have the utmost respect for the men and women of our space program. These people sit on the biggest pile of explosives you can imagine and light the fuse. From that point till the time they put their feet back on the Earth, they are in a constant state of risk for a horrible death.
- VAXcat, on 04/20/2009, -0/+247 When quizzed about this, Neal Armstrong said that instead of resorting to suicide, he was going to keep working like a madman to repair whatever the problem was until he died.
- inactive, on 04/20/2009, -5/+153"Soon you'll all be fighting for your planet. Many of you will be dying for your planet. A few of you will be forced through a fine mesh screen for your planet. They will be the luckiest of all."
- DarkBlueAnt, on 04/20/2009, -8/+147Mythbusters ran a show on the myth that the moon landing was faked using the footage. They determined that the landing was real.
I trust them over anyone who says it was faked. - spookyttws, on 04/20/2009, -2/+138I'd hate to think about what this situation may have done to the Space Industry, but if we go by their track record, it would have little effect. Besides a period of nation wide morning, a review of what went wrong, the next mission would go. I love how brave our astronauts are, and truthfully (even with the huge chances against success they face) I would do the same thing if given the chance. The idea of being one of only twelve people to stand on a different celestial body and getting to see an Earth Rising is totally worth the consequences.
I would also do exactly the same thing Buzz Aldrin did when someone accused him of faking the moon landing, punch the idiot out.

It's certainly going to be awkward when we create machines that chase us off world in search of a real Earth. - Sil369, on 04/20/2009, -18/+125we all know the moon landing was fake
(do i have to put /s?) - freezerburn666, on 04/20/2009, -1/+101would be weird looking at the moon knowing there was 2 bodies on it
- Smokeydabear, on 04/20/2009, -3/+94"We're going to have Dr. Manhattan recover the remains."
- frequentFlyer, on 04/20/2009, -2/+91Dugg for "epic men". Indeed they are.
- topgigmedia, on 04/20/2009, -7/+95Playing devil's advocate (I am not a Moon hoaxer), but how is this evidence? If the government thought of everything else why not have a plan B speech? What if Armstrong and Aldrin needed to be taken care of as part of the cover up because they were a liability in the limelight afterwards?
- asnider, on 04/20/2009, -0/+87Agreed. True conspiracy theorists wouldn't be convinced by this. In fact, for the most die hard of conspiracy theorists (whether we're talking about those who believe the moon-landing was a hoax, or any other conspiracy), any evidence disproving the conspiracy is just viewed as a part of the conspiracy and makes their belief in it even stronger.
- forevernomad, on 04/20/2009, -2/+84But it makes me wonder if there's an alternative universe somewhere that heard this speech and have reached the stars because of the unity the world felt that fateful day.
- DarkCloud515, on 04/20/2009, -0/+78***** yea!
- figsclay, on 04/20/2009, -2/+74WE LANDED ON THE MOON!
- Mockylock, on 04/20/2009, -0/+71Running out of air would just make you confused, then tired and fall asleep. Much less painful than bursting a seal in your suit or spacecraft.
- mad2max666, on 04/20/2009, -0/+69at least Aldrin got to walk on the moon. The 3rd man Michael Collins didn't get to leave the module, or get a mention in Nixon's disaster speech
- FelixDrylock, on 04/20/2009, -2/+69don't be ridiculous. If we reached the stars we would instantly disintegrate. Those things are hot, like 400 degrees!
- acknotSW, on 04/20/2009, -3/+70Actually, it's probably good that you did, the loons seem to be out in force today.
- Pixelante, on 04/20/2009, -1/+66No. Only 3 have been killed in a training exercise in the US space program and those were the Apollo 1 crew. The lost Russian cosmonauts died in flight, and the other 14 US casualties were on Challenger and Columbia. Unless you want to count those who died on flight training and never went to space, like Theodore Freeman.
- mentallyinhell, on 04/20/2009, -6/+69http://xkcd.com/202/
- A5204, on 08/13/2009, -0/+59So would they have just run out of air? Did they carry 'suicide pills'? It makes me think about how I would want to go out if I was stuck in that situation.
- EdGasket, on 04/20/2009, -0/+58And that's probably why they chose him.
- Anthrax704, on 04/20/2009, -0/+57All we know is, he's called The Stig
- justok, on 04/20/2009, -1/+55The moon landing wasn't fake, but the moon is. It's not really what they say it is. They actually had to _make_ the moon first. The exhaust fumes it gives off just make us think that it has always been there.
- Gudeldar, on 04/20/2009, -0/+53And they would be perfectly preserved there forever.
- eveccker, on 04/20/2009, -0/+48Until a huge meteor came crashing down like CROOOAR BOOOMM! and send their epic preserved bodies into space.
- TexMexRex, on 04/20/2009, -0/+47You woulsd think the Russians who had the most to gain from showing it was fake would have made the accusation. But of course they are not that stupid.
- geneikillua, on 04/20/2009, -4/+50You stole and modded that joke from Calvin & Hobbes.
- swicepick, on 04/20/2009, -0/+43He was orbiting the moon and never actually went down to the surface. It sounds like the speech was written in the event that Armstrong and Aldrin got stuck on the Moon and never made it back to the command module.
- twertyto, on 04/20/2009, -2/+44After reading you first paragragh :-)
After reading your second paragraph O_o - Hoogs, on 04/20/2009, -2/+44I would take off my helmet.
- DulcetTone, on 04/20/2009, -0/+41Eisenhower a speech ready in the event that the D-Day landings failed.
It's extremely short:
“Our landings have failed and I have withdrawn the troops. My decision to attack at this time and place was based on the best information available. The troops, the air and the Navy did all that bravery could do. If any blame or fault attaches to the attempt it is mine alone.” - ebcreasoner, on 04/20/2009, -0/+41Man, that kind o'***** only happens on Mars. Get your facts straight.
- bmcnally, on 04/20/2009, -0/+41He's the kickass astronaut who beat up the Moon Landing denier.
Aldrin Punch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOo6aHSY8hU - inhaler, on 04/19/2009, -0/+37Maybe he's an atheist? Leave the dude alone.
- JEbel72, on 04/19/2009, -5/+41I can eat 50 eggs!
- Remelox, on 04/20/2009, -1/+35Pfft, I've felt 400 degrees. It's nothing. I've even had the oven up to 450 and have survived. But I have yet to follow my wife's suggestion to get in and close the door.
- inactive, on 04/20/2009, -1/+35"oh, are you two boys in the space program too?"
Apollo 13 - inigomntoya, on 04/20/2009, -2/+35*shakes head*
Even IF it were faked, why would they go through all of that to kill them off? It would only motivate the Russians more in the "Space Race" to be the first to bring a living human back from the moon. - lorem1000, on 04/20/2009, -0/+32The 8th man really gets no respect.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7ljO8eP9hE&fea ... - MasterAmerica, on 04/20/2009, -0/+31In a kind of strange way, it makes me wonder what other 'disaster' speeches there are, out there...
1) Was there one prepared if we lost WWII?
2) Is/was there one if nuclear war occured?
3) If Reagan died from the assassin..was there one? - lorem1000, on 04/20/2009, -5/+35He was never on the Moon.
- sciencelovesyou, on 04/20/2009, -0/+30Well, thankfully, he made it to the moon and back.
- inactive, on 04/20/2009, -1/+30Ground Control to Major Tom
Your circuit’s dead, there’s something wrong
Can you hear me, Major Tom? - diggydougie, on 04/20/2009, -0/+29The text is written as though they are still alive but doomed (can't come back).
