- tbenathan, on 09/27/2008, -11/+499It is EMBARRASSING to the nation that Sarah Palin is on the ticket. There is no way any semi-educated, quasi-informed American could actually consider Sarah Palin Presidential material.
Fareed Zakaria has a BA from Yale and a PhD in Political Science from Harvard. He was the editor of Foreign Affairs, which is _the_ top journal for the discussion of America's role in world affairs. This man knows what he's talking about, and he's clearly had enough. - fluxion, on 09/27/2008, -11/+312she's toast next week. along with mccain.
- Depthfunction, on 09/27/2008, -8/+197The GOP doesn't care that Palin
*doesn't understand the Wall Street bailout negotiations
*doesn't understand the nature and reasons behind the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
*wouldn't have a clue about how to deal with Iran and Russia
*has no solution to high fuel costs
*has no plan for health care and social security
All the GOP cares about is that Palin is anti-abortion. That's all they care about. - SheilaNoya, on 09/27/2008, -11/+198I just hope that the moderator of her upcoming debate is tough enough not to let her get away with only repeating the lame "talking points" she has memorized.
Like the article says... If asked to explain what each talking point actually means, she can only speak gibberish.
We already know she can "speak in tongues when possesed by the spirit of the Lord". Maybe she should just let God "possess" her right before the debate. Then she could just flop around on the floor and let God's voice emminate from her mouth so He can answer the questions for her. - doxtyp, on 09/28/2008, -6/+189Part of the conversation:
COURIC: Why isn't it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries; allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?
PALIN: That's why I say I, like every American I'm speaking with, were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the—it's got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health-care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing. But one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.
WHAT? Anyone understands what Palin said?? Damn, Iraq, Africa, maps and such as! - Dislolppear, on 09/27/2008, -6/+180It was painful enough to watch the Couric clip but seeing it in words...wow. Pity, pity.
- avataros, on 09/28/2008, -7/+145Ship Palin back to Mattel with a copy of your Proof of Purchase, Senator McCain. Yukon Barbie is obviously defective and is a safety threat to the American people.
- Someguy101, on 02/19/2009, -5/+122To any of you planning on voting for McCain (I know you're out there), knowing that Palin is attached to that ticket.... ***** you.
- kelstock, on 09/28/2008, -5/+105"There is no way any semi-educated, quasi-informed American could actually consider Sarah Palin Presidential material."
I don't think you're describing the Republican base with that statement. - HarryRag, on 09/28/2008, -3/+97You've been spamming this whole "lulz Obama forgot the soldier's name on his bracelet" on Digg for a while now. He didn't forget his ***** name, he stuttered because he was about to say the sergeant's name instead of saying it was the MOTHER of that sergeant.
One simple little mistake is apparently enough to condemn Obama. How many times has McCain stuttered? I bet you don't even want to be reminded. You are an idiot. - HarryRag, on 09/28/2008, -1/+88The VP debate is going to be so much more exciting than the Obama-McCain debate. It's going to be very painful to watch though, just like that interview with Katie Couric.
- Depthfunction, on 09/27/2008, -1/+88I bet she won't. I'm of the opinion that Palin's dismissal (even if it is couched in the "I need to spend time with my family" *****) would undermine McCain's argument that he is ready to make the big decisions. No matter how Palin exits, and no matter who McCain picks to replace her, this episode will be seen as proof that McCain is a bad decision-maker.
Palin's exit will also infuriate the Dobson wing of the GOParty, and McCain can't afford to piss them off again if he wants to have any chance to win the election.
McCain should never have chosen her in the first place. She's a gimmick, plain and simple. - inactive, on 09/27/2008, -7/+89Anyone wanna take bets on as to whether or not Palin's going to "gracefully bow out" before this election's over?
- inactive, on 09/28/2008, -0/+73Let's ***** face it - that statement simply can't be refuted, because that'd require anyone making any goddamn sense of it.
- texasred54, on 09/28/2008, -5/+70She is giving grammar teachers fits! Does she think her convoluted sentences make her sound intelligent?
Pathetic Palin needs to go back to high school. And, not take cheerleading classes. Debate? - seduirai, on 09/28/2008, -3/+65Can we just start by saying that Sarah Palin is a great example of the need for education reform in this country!
- inactive, on 09/28/2008, -0/+60I'm looking forward to some hilarious episodes of the daily show.
- LooseFur, on 09/28/2008, -3/+63It was 10 years ago that Robert DeNiro & Dustin Hoffman starred in the movie Wag The Dog.
Now the movie seems 'quaint'.
When I look back at the past 8 years of Bush Baby rule, our nation has plunged depths that horrify me even now. Torture. 4000= Army personnel dead in another phony, pointless war. The American government trillions of dollars in debt to Communist China and the dictators of Arabia. And yet...
Nothing prepared me for the Palin Stunt. Never in my wildest imagination could I foresee that the GOP nominee would pull a desperate, "hail Mary" stunt worthy of a crack addict.
God help us all if Palin/McCain managed to swindle their way into the White House. - inactive, on 09/27/2008, -1/+60In a short interview with Joe Biden on MSNBC, Joe said they weren't going to go easy on her. If it's true that Palin is only memorizing talking points, then simply asking her an open-ended question such as explaining WHY she has such a view should be enough to make her speak in tongues. lol
- theaceoffire, on 09/28/2008, -2/+59He tried to delay it once so far, lets see what he tries next.
- ManicRetrospect, on 09/28/2008, -3/+59I am excited for the Vice Presidential debate.
:)
he he he - barbsat, on 09/28/2008, -2/+57McCain could replace her with Miss Teen South Carloina. At least she knew about "The Iraq".
- inactive, on 09/28/2008, -3/+53Voting for McCain all of a sudden turned from a choice into a national security issue because of ONE PERSON.
***** hillarious! - lancert, on 09/28/2008, -0/+47I'll bet good money that she quits before Thursday to "spend more time with her family" or that "Alaska really needs her right now".
A better option would be for the McCain campaign to maker her mysteriously disappear and pay Tina Fey to fill in for her hoping no one notices... - bluefieldgreens, on 09/28/2008, -4/+51The choice of Sarah Palin by John McCain is the most unbelievable insult to all of the qualified, educated - not just women - but people in this US of A. My grandaughter who is not yet eligible to vote would be more qualified than this pick.
- kingofinternet, on 09/28/2008, -8/+54rabid right response: fareed zakaria, he uh turrurist.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 09/28/2008, -1/+45@akchrs: What, you go trolling around Digg making an ass of yourself and can't handle it when someone calls you out on it? Here's an idea - have an original thought once in a while.
- Someguy101, on 02/19/2009, -3/+47Did you listen to her talk? She's a ***** RETARD!!!!!
You are ***** blind if you can't see that she doesn't know what the ***** she is in for. She's so far over her head that she can't even answer the most extremely basic questions possible.
So yeah, ***** YOU for putting this country at risk by voting for someone who has absolutely no idea what she's doing. - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+42Are you ***** high? Its the concern of everybody who can vote.
- shupy, on 09/28/2008, -0/+42Oh, sounds like someone in a beauty pageant.
Oh, that's right, her claim to fame is runner-up for Miss Alaska. Duh.
She is an embarassment to professional women and to the country. - inactive, on 09/28/2008, -4/+44I swear to god! My 3.5 year old daughter would give a smarter and more convincing answer to the financial crisis than Sarah Palin ever will.
Out of her league does not even begin to describe the disgraceful choice of Palin as the Vice Presidential running mate, she is an utter disaster in any political position.
If Ms. Palin does not see the light (Pardon the christ-pun) it's time for a major protest. Hell, she drove a town of 9.000 into a $20 million dollar debt, how the ***** do you even do that? - Deadpixel1221, on 09/28/2008, -4/+44Has anyone else noticed that all the usual McPalin trolls seem glaringly absent this weekend? Could they actually be coming to their senses?
- mebble, on 09/28/2008, -1/+39"Startle them with your brilliance, or baffle them with your bullsh*t".
She takes after the old man. - inactive, on 09/28/2008, -4/+41She's a trophy Vice Prez.
- mebble, on 09/28/2008, -0/+36Are you kidding? Whether or not she even realizes or realizes and refuses to acknowledge how unfit she is, Ms. Palin certainly has clearly demonstrated one strong trait, her ruthless ambition. She will do anything and say anything but she would never quit unless she was pushed. Like McCain the evidence is that she is only interested in what's good for her, not what's good for America. "Country First"? My a$$.
- debtman7, on 09/28/2008, -0/+36I read it several times. I kept thinking I'm tired or not paying attention or something and maybe I just missed something. Really reading it you get the feeling it should make sense, but then you realize, no, it means nothing and you'll just have to scratch your head trying to figure out how it ties into the question, let alone what it means.
- xenakis, on 09/28/2008, -1/+36To contribute to society? Or be V.P. of the country. If she wants to sit at the head of the table - or just to the right - she need at least understand what the hell is going on.
- NuclearIsShit, on 09/28/2008, -0/+35and pro oil with no questions asked.
- jimfeet, on 09/28/2008, -0/+35I'm with you. I don't think the debate will happen.
She is an embarrassment to the McCain ticket. Moreover, the fact she is a VP candidate at all is an insult to the entire nation. It says, "Hell, anybody can be president. They don't have to know *****. We'll just run things from behind the scenes and you'll never know the difference."
If she was in fact selected by McCain (and not by a committee of GOP wonks), he has clearly demonstrated his complete lack of respect for us all. - archiesteel, on 09/28/2008, -1/+36AntBing, we saw on the debate last night that Obama has a firm grasp of Foreing Policy. He is clearly much more knowledgeable about the subject than Sarah Palin (not to mention the fact that he has traveled extensively, while Sarah Palin has barely been out of Alaska). Therefore, it is fallacious (and more than a little boneheaded) to claim that if Palin isn't ready, then Obama isn't.
Obama is ready. Biden is ready. McCain is ready. Palin isn't ready. It's as simple as that. - kelstock, on 09/28/2008, -2/+36"It is from Alaska that we send out those …" What does this mean? Whatever it is it's not right on the teleprompter, I don't know what that is, I've never seen that. I can't read it, there's no words on it. THERE'S NO WORDS THERE!
In other news, I wonder if Sarah Palin could get a bluetooth for the debate, and hide it with her hair. That way she could just repeat the response of somebody who can actually form correct sentences and a rational argument. - teamgwho, on 09/28/2008, -0/+34episodes? Hell, if I'm right and she bombs as badly as I expected she will (that rambling incohenrent answer she gave to Couric is a good indicator) they'll have enough material for a week or two of programming.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -1/+34Is that all you have?
- ironhide, on 09/28/2008, -0/+33Guess what? Nothing says that we can't mock her, or you for being morons.
- NuclearIsShit, on 09/28/2008, -1/+33She was answering the questions like she was still answering beauty pageant questions. Also, you can tell that she was just saying what she knew about politics and economics. "Jab creation, jab creation, jab creation".
This is NOT Alaska! The economy of the USA is more complex than "Creating Jabs". She was successful in Alaska because they needed jobs, and she gave it to them with no regard to anything else. That will not work now, on "the mainland" because the economy is more diversified than just an icy baron land with oil wells and wolf hunting.
She needs more experience. - trieste, on 09/28/2008, -1/+33All Sarah Palin needs to know is can she see the White House from where she will live. That will make her qualified for the job.
- FTWmovin2canada, on 09/28/2008, -0/+32I agree, Zakaria is excellent. I wish CNN would make his show daily instead of weekly.
- Aleman360, on 09/28/2008, -2/+33Question 1... is this woman qualified to be in charge of the most powerful country in the world?
Question 2... considering that McCain has likely 8-10 years left in his life (http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr56/nvsr56_09 ... do you think there is a good chance his health may deteriorate to the point where he would not be able to fulfill his duties as president?
If you answered either one of those questions, you are already better at answering questions than Sarah Palin. - archiesteel, on 09/28/2008, -1/+31akchrs: please get out of my Internet KTHXBYE
- duckley, on 09/28/2008, -0/+29AND ...
WATCH her eyes dart down to her lap, where her Talking Points are...
And then back up to look at Couric - (she thinks: Am I making sense here?) - desperately.
She soooo wants to make sense, and feel important, and be liked... But... it's just not working is it? -
