- Manhigh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12But would they want to come here? The land has historical significance to both parties, more than just its economic value.
- nskinsella, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Other, similar proposals: Ken Layne, "How 'Bout Relocating Israel to Mexico?" - estacado, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6The rapture freaks aren't gonna be happy with the proposal.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6So, have you received your call yet? You know... for your appointment for the spa at Club Gitmo?
- nskinsella, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Doesn't matter if they come here. It gives us a way out. They can take or leave the offer. Once we make it, we've done out duty.
- Petrarch1603, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I think they got it the opposite: they should move the mormons to Israel haha
- lane.montgomery, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That is very true that there have always been Jews in Israel/Palestine. But the European Jews had a continental congress of sorts in Europe (the name escapes me) at which they discussed at length and voted on different ideas for a homeland.
It also bears mentioning that before the Holocaust, many Jews believed that the idea of a Jewish homeland was antiquated after the age of enlightenment spread across western Europe. Many argued that since democracy was taking root and they enjoyed equal rights in most western European countries that there was no need for a Jewish homeland. They felt differently after their own countrymen and women turned them in to the Nazis.
Then after the war, most Jews who didn't subscribe to Zionism considered the United States the new promised land. Most people would also be surprised to learn that before Hebrew was resurrected (the language was considered dead in the sense that latin is) as the national language, German was to be the national language. They ended up choosing Hebrew to help solidify the national identity. - nocountries, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2move Israel to the US - great, but how would Bush fight his proxy war with Iran / whichever country he learned to spell this week?
- moddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Exactly, also, what do you think would happen to the architectural heritage of the Jews and the Christians in Jerusalem, once the Muslim took over and the New Islamic People's Republic of Palestine took over...
It is definitely not history to call the current Israel a product of European Jews, but rather of all Jews, because there have always been Jews in this region, where the origin of their Faith is.
Sadly, this is always overlooked along with the fact that the jews have peacefully bought most of the land that is now the State of Israel...
However, this shouldn't excuse them for being socialists! - lane.montgomery, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Before Israel was created as a homeland for the Jews, many similar possibilities were discussed in the European Jewish community. Solviet Russia even created a pseudo republic in the east somewhere where it claimed Jews could immigrate and rule themselves if they wanted. It never took off. Other Jews in Europe considered making Argentina (yes Argentina) the new Jewish homeland.
But we all know how that part of the story ends up.
The Jews have had no homeland for hundreds of years. A little over 50 years ago they archieved the dream of generations before them. Millions had to die before Britain recognized the pervasive problem of anti-semetism and the obvious benefit of self-rule. So they created a Jewish state in the original homeland of the Jews.
Heretz Israel is now re-enforced in even reform synagogues. It is the home of the temple, center of Jewish faith, home.
In short, Israel is the only option now. The focus isn't on where Jews can move to find peace, it is on bringing peace to where they live. - jdmac44, on 03/13/2009, -0/+0Tread carefully...
"1 Now the LORD said to Abram,
“Go forth from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;
2 And I will make you a great nation,
And I will bless you,
And make your name great;
And so you shall be a blessing;
3 And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse.
And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
Genesis 12:1-3 NAS
If you are not a believer, then this is a moot point. But if you are a believer, you know that the Jews are linked to this land and I believe that we have been continually blessed because we support their right to this land. Yes, offering them an alternative in a roundabout sense is attempting to be a blessing to them, but knowing that this is the land God gave to them, I don't know that it fits the spirit of the decree. To offer an out by offering to pry them to the land God promised them, I believe is in essence a curse. - shashovard, on 02/06/2009, -0/+0http://hotnews.000hosted.com/ See. This is not new. Many examples are

Israel has been scattered into exile a few times throughout history and they've always returned. Where are the nations that scattered them today?
- IKilled007, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Move them down here to Florida. Our economy is booming and our climate is similar to theirs.
- haithemz, on 03/14/2009, -0/+0jdmac44; you're a nut! we have been blessed because we support israel's genocide of another people? is this what your ***** god wants, you ***** nut?
- cd6020, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6***** them. They wanted the land they now have. They now have it. NOT AMERICAS PROBLEM TO HELP OR HINDER THEM.
- ben4444, on 01/09/2008, -1/+0This is an awful idea. Israel is the only place for the Israelis - what would you think if They suggested to move the US to Russia?
I personally support moving to Israel

- mohasr, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4man, those Israeli soldiers and commanders are just a fistful of pure butchers. They kill children,women and innocent civilians with no excuse at all , and whenever they being asked why they killed them they say the same ol' answer : "hezbollah used them as human shield"
you freaking israeli cowards , if you can't take the responsibility of killing innocent humans , then you shouldn't run crying when a few of your civilians get killed in revenge.
Israel killed more than 500 Lebanese innocent civilians , while only 50 ( give or take a few) Israeli civilians get killed , that's 10:1 !! THIS IS NOT FAIR AT ALL
or do you think that only the Israeli people has the right to LIVE ?
From my deep bleeding heart I say : " Hezbollah you are the right holders , you are the good people , keep your brave resistance . and to all the zionists : go to hell "
sigh ...
