Navarrette: If You Don't Like Obama, You're a Racist
littlegreenfootballs.com — At CNN, an article from Ruben Navarrette Jr. that explicitly spells it out: Not voting for Barack Obama is racism.

- Maninthemiddle, on 05/14/2008, -2/+23Although I have seen from him some brief moments of lucid thought, Ruben Navarrette Jr. prefers to hang his intellectual shingle on the premise that Americans are xenophobic racists.
His usual rant is how mystified he is that evil white Americans have a problem with up to 20,000,000 illegal residents from Mexico - as if 20,000,000 Ukrainians or Estonians (if there were so many) would not also be a point of consternation.
The facts - and they are facts -
(1) that legal immigration does not seem to be problematic with most Americans,
(2) that it is a canard that illegals "pay their way" (instead costing billions in social services), and
(3) that political opportunists have ensured an environment where Mexican immigrants assimilate and achieve financially more slowly than immigrants from other countries (and as I said, I believe this is not purely the fault of the Mexican immigrants, but due to the construct of being illegal combined with the politics of victimology).
Now he extends his racist range.
Frankly, myself and those with whom I speak could care nary a whit that Obama is black. We do care that:
1. He was very tight with an avowed anti-American racist for 20-years.
2. His early years mentor was a Marxist.
3. His political career launch was assisted by an anti-American who is also an unrepentant terrorist.
4. His campaign advisers are littered with anti-Israel and pro-Islamist characters.
5. His policies reek of unattainable wishes versus realities.
6. He consistently makes factual errors.
7. He is, do to his obvious inexperience, likely 4 years or even 8 years early in his quest.
Now - Obama supporters can (and should) be able to debate on each of the above points... and Obama himself should well be able to respond without feeling that being so questioned is below him.
Regardless - the points are what they are - and have nothing to do with ethnicity.
Anyone who suggests otherwise, might themselves be showing a tinge of bigotry. - buddarien, on 05/14/2008, -2/+23So when people actually study the issues and see that obama is a far left socialist, that is apparently irrelevant.
No, we should vote for obama out of guilt that a viable black candidate has not been produced so far.
Sorry, I don't like what he stands for nor where he would potentially take this country.
But he is a candidate of change. Has anybody considered that he could change us for the worse? It is never voiced in the MSM, but it certainly must cross peoples' minds. And for that cognitism, they will be branded racist according to this article.
What the article fails to mention is the inherent racism in the democratic party itself. The very party that claims to battle against racism and bigotry has itself that very perceived problem.
DO NOT FORGET, this is a DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY. This is not the entire US. The MSM is projecting racism on the entire country when indeed it is democrats attempting to nominate a candidate.
Racism will subside when race is no longer the measure for anyone. So when the liberal media declare first black President, first black senator, first black etc., they just perpetuate that which they claim they wish to eliminate.
You want to stop bias, then stop categorizing people accordingly.
Liberal democrats are way too invested in racism and bigotry to ever let it disappear. If obama wins the Presidency, how racist will the US be then? How will they convince victims to still be victims? Should be interesting to witness if it ever comes to be. - Chip53, on 05/14/2008, -2/+14I will not vote for him because I don't agree with his politics not what color his skin is. If he were a Republican I'd give him my vote because he is a good speaker and he does inspire people, (just not me). Anybody who tries the guilt trip on me will be disappointed.
- hitcharide, on 05/14/2008, -2/+13Very simple...it's racism just because democrats say it is....don't bother with facts or evidence! We're supposed to vote for obama just because he's black (and that's about as racist as it gets) and ignore all his history and performance. Of course, this policy of political correctness will work well on democrats, but given the numbers in west virginia, I highly doubt the rest of America will cheerfully throw away their vote simply on the premise that they might be a racist just because they don't vote for obama. What's next...if we don't vote for sHillary, we hate women? If msm wasn't sold out to the lunatic left, the evidence on obama would have been produced long ago and he wouldn't even be in the running. I like to think we're growing out of the 90's, a decade where democrats forced everyone else to do really stupid things because of political correctness, and enough people were either insecure or dimwitted enough to fall for it. Hey, here's another reason not to vote for a democrat....FOUR DOLLARS A GALLON FOR GAS, when pelosi took over the house on the platform that democrats would have an energy policy dedicated to controlling gas prices at the pump! Anyone exercising their right to vote should do so in an informed and unbiased manner...liberals telling us to do so in an uninformed and biased manner are little more than dictatorial racists, and while I'm no fan of mccain (illegal immigration supporter) it's obvious that this election cycle is for the democrats to lose, and only because of their divisiveness on race and politics. By the way, maninthemiddle....EXCELLENT POST, as always you hit the nail squarely on the head and leave liberals with questions they dare not answer (or at least dare not admit the answer.)
- 140Suffolk, on 05/15/2008, -1/+8I sincerely believe that Americans would vote in droves -- for a black Ronald Reagan.
Americans would vote in torrents -- for a genuine black JFK (rabidly anti-communist, pro-defense, tax-cutter)
But a tax-them-and-give-the-money-to-the-UN anti-American race-obsessed socialist Harvard lawyer?
Nuh-uh!
