- vtnerd, on 09/09/2008, -0/+2Uhh, what?
Democrats might be working for civil liberties, but I really doubt it. Obama just voted in favor of telecom immunity with FISA, for one. They've also been complicit in renewing the Patriot Act. I realize that elected officials don't necessarily represent those who share their party, but the Democrats are not interested in saving your gun rights. Obama is in favor of the assault weapons ban, opposed to concealed carry and he opposes ownership of semiauto handguns by individuals. BTW, Biden has an equally poor record on gun rights.
It seems to me that the author is suggesting we throw out the 2nd Amendment to save the other ones by electing Obama/Biden. If so, there's nothing to give hope that the other rights would be saved and without the 2nd Amendment the other rights may not last long anyways. Did I misunderstand his intent?
There might be "good" democrats who are working to protect all of your rights, but Obama/Biden are not part of that group. I'm not sure if this article is intended to be read in the context of the upcoming election or not, but Obama/Biden are not the answer for preserving gun rights. - morequestions, on 09/07/2008, -1/+2I agree. We need to focus on protecting the entire constitution, not just one article while ignoring all the others. Shame on you NRA !
- paintballs, on 09/07/2008, -1/+1I sell paint ball guns and supplies. I also support gun ownership. It is a cornerstone of your country and without guns in the hands of our citizens, we would still be part of the British Empire. I am considering canceling my NRA membership unless they show they can support the entire constitution.
There is no call to dishonor the democrats or any politician who stood up to Bush's trashing of the constitution for the sake of holding on to just one right. I agree NRA needs to fight against specific legislation but not against the only people who actually believe in our constitution. That is BS !
