The fact that Hillary has trapped herself is a clear indication of just how out of touch the Democrats are with main stream America. The radical left will freak out when the see how fast the Democrat nominee will drop this and run to the middle... !!! In the meantime... the damage is being done !!

But as long as they have the Drive By Media in their pocket they won't get hurt...unless there are more Lew Dobbs out there.

Cherry-pick people who want to come to our country and who would make great contributing citizens - why the hell not? l think the process of *legally* migrating should be streamlined and much better funded. And I don't believe that people whose only crime is wanting to escape to the American Dream, deserve sniper towers or electrocution. BUT - I would love to see our borders actually guarded, and the influx of ILLEGAL immigrants halted.
    • ugotz2, on 11/08/2007, -0/+3Agreed... a strong deterrent is enough under the penalty of law and preferment ENFORCED deportation (If that has any meaning any more these days). Good law abiding people are people we should welcome... but by their own actions illegals are by definition just that, illegal and breaking the law, and that alone places their character in suspect.

Only in America can you be rewarded for breaking the law. Why stop with granting them licenses? If you want illegals to come out of the woodwork and register -- ONCE THE WALLS and ELECTRIFIED FENCES ARE BUILT you tell them you have 3 months to register with IEA or be deported. ENFORCE THE LAW !!! Either Register or get Deported !!!! Democrats (and Bush in the case) has a very twisted view of what is illegal.

Naturalized immigrants can't possibly feel good about giving illegals all these rights. Rewarding them for breaking the law when they themselves played by the rules. Middle America is fed up with inner city liberals and southern Democrats will even begin to vote Republican on an issue like this !!
