- littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32Is anyone going to revisit The "Patriot" Acts I and II?
- Lixie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Not until the unPatriot Act is repealed (in its entirety) and the Military Commission Act is also repealed, will I believe the Democrats are any better than the Republicans.
- tomboy501, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16The inclusion of the NYT editorial from Sept. breaking down the "awfulness" of the MCA is almost the best part of this article. Maybe I had forgotten how bad it was. How did our lawmakers pass this?? It will be interesting to see how many of them - given the chance - will be willing to undo what they did in a different political climate.
- johndi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16I love the secret evidence part. If the accused is really the perpetrator wouldn't they already know? This whole act needs to be struck down by the courts. It would be nice if Congress would beat them to it, but I doubt that they can override a veto.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Given that each member of Congress must swear an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of these United States, anyone who voted in favor of the MCA and the PA I and II are traitors to their oath. Those who do not vote to remove these 'laws' are also traitors. The oath is not sworn to your political party nor to the commander in chief but to the US Constitution which was put in place to limit the powers of the Federal government.
As is clear today, the Constitution is looked at with contempt by most everyone in all three branches of government. Some of us do not hold it in contempt and hope to live to see things restored to the way we were given them to begin with. With all of the socialists, communists and marxists running around these days, I'm guessing it will not be done peacefully. - clearzen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I hope that they repeal this horrible piece of legislation. Then maybe they can move on to the patriot act. Someone should start repairing the damage bush and co. has done to the constitution.
- clubmasta2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12You want like checks and balances or something?
Please. - clubmasta2, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Only after we kill anyone who has a bad thought about America in any way shape or form ever. It might take a while, but I think we could manage to jail anyone with a sour thought about America.
- thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Something tells me they will make a lot of noise but do nothing about it in the end.
- cheez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7they'll get to that after revisiting the alien and sedition acts
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7You got that right. They will step in front of the cameras and tell the sheeple what they figure the sheeple want to hear. The sheeple will go back to their lives feeling comfy in the fact that they heard what they wanted to hear.
Eventually, the fecal matter will hit the rotating object on the ceiling and the sheeple will do what they do best, get wide eyed and wonder how they could have been so mis-informed. Then they'll go back to grazing. What a sad cycle we have allowed ourselves to become a part of.
I can't decide whether to laugh or cry at times. It's so funny to see it happen that it's sad. We only get one go around on terra firma, we'd better take advantage of it while we have it! If only I could bring Patrick Henry back.......... - eaasness, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I didn't mean to digg down this comment!
- Yez70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hmmm, so how are we going to lock up over half the american people?
Oh wait - FEMA already started building the concentration camps...
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8272096722231303649
And the army has plans to use the occupants as slave laor....
http://www.apfn.org/apfn/prison_camps.htm - JonForTheWin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Damn am I appreciative for The Constitution's self-enforcement clause we know as the Second Amendment.
@natey1
Shut up traitor. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I am in full agreement. My question would be how do you propose to do so? We all know what the right thing to do is yet few of us propose a means to fix it.
It's easy to look at a blown engine and say damn, that engine is *****. The important thing is to look at that ***** up engine, see what parts are reusable and put together a plan to rebuild it. Even more important is implementing the plan. Identify the problem, isolate the problem, identify the fix and then implement the fix. Works for every mechanic since it follows a logical plan. We have to do the same with the broken engine we call government. - faskippy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Agree. Now, what are you doing? I hope everyone is writing letters to all of govt. I am. It's a start. Next, mass protests? I'm game. How about a 10 million citizen march! Massive petitions. Jamming the phone lines with calls of protest to Bush's disrespect for the Constitution. Any more ideas, anyone?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Careful, JFTW, you're asking people to wake up and smell the horse *****.
It's not a comfortable thing and can be extremely depressing to many. It doesn't change the fact that what you ask is a helpful thing that people should thank you for...but people tend to kill the messenger when they don't like the message.
The truth hurts.... - rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4One of the few things where the original was perhaps worse then the sequel.
- klepto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_Security_Enhancement_Act_of_2003
- JonForTheWin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"would be against the constitution in its original form"
How the *****? o_O - JonForTheWin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It had ***** better be along with the DSE. For those of you who don't know what the DSE is, it's the treason-on-paper that "patriot" act number 2 was snuck into:
http://www.infowars.com/print/patriot_act/alexs_analysis.htm - littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"Thomas gets comment raped, over and over again."
I think tomboy501 is intelligent and open minded enough to know that this is all interrelated. On that note let me share my most inspired thought of the day from another thread, updated for this discussion:
The Military Commission Act, The "Patriot" Acts I and II, and Bush's "Signing Statements" are all giving Dictatorial powers to the Executive Branch of the US Government. Obviously this was never intended in the Constitution. Actually it is expressly forbidden. All this is happening in the name of "The War on Terrorism."
There will always be "Terrorists" in the world. George Washington was a "Terrorist" to the crown.
Basing our lives around a "War on Terror" is insane. Such a war by its very reality and definition will NEVER end. - faskippy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Oh my God. This is treason if I've ever seen it. Gone to read more...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@natey1
I just wanted to thank you for showing what a complete dumbass you are. The Bill of Rights is the thin thread your rights hang on. As JonForTheWin pointed out, we only have one left to allow us to defend ourselves from this onslaught of tyranny by the behemoth we have allowed the Fed to become - the 2nd.
While natey1 grabs his super soaker and heads off to play his PSIII, some will have to defend the US Constitution. Guess what natey-boy, you only get one life in the real world rather than the three or four you're used to in the video game world. You're better off sticking with the PSIII since you'll just get in the way. - littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Actually the Constitution and the Bill of Rights together form "The Constitution." Look into it.
- littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's a Saturday night and Keach is High again ... o_O
- dwb325, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The scariest part of this bill (okay, one of the scariest parts) is that the mainstream media hardly mentioned it. If I controlled CNN, I would have covered this bill 24/7 for a week until the public outcry made every politician who supported the bill look like a fascist. Where is the liberal media when you need them?
- rhawk301, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3We need to fix the system so it can't break next time. We need to make constitutional amendments banning the fat lobby groups, and these huge international cartel corporation from infecting our government. We need to amend the constitution so that it doesn't require an ultra rich elite to run the country. I mean the Bush dynasty has been on the ground for quite some time now, and it needs to stop. Even Clinton and John Kerry are super rich. Al Gore isn't really elite, but I shudder at him being president. I certainly don't have all the answers, but we need to remove the money and profit motive from government, and make it impossible for people to profit from our government and the decision we make and need to make.
We also need to get rid of the Federal Reserve and Central banks from the USA and replace them with the US mint, the way it was supposed to be. The US government can federally insure your money just as well as the central (independently run) banks can. Without a profit motive in government we could secure our futures, but that would leave profit to those who really deserve it. - littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"It" took me ...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4@faskippy
Actually, yes, I do have another idea. Go buy yourself an AR-10 and a ***** of ammo. While you're wasting your time sending letters, making calls and doing the sheeple thing.....I'll be getting ready for what is to come. You want to use your 1st amendment rights whereas I prefer my 2nd amendment rights. YMMV. - williamdyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Take it easy on Keach. He's a mall cop and didn't pass the TSA employment test, and he's a bit snippy about that.
- littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2WOW! I really had no idea about this and I consider myself fairly informed! From above Wiki Link. DSE Provisions:
* Removal of court-ordered prohibitions against police agencies spying on domestic groups.
* The FBI would be granted powers to conduct searches and surveillance based on intelligence gathered in foreign countries without first obtaining a court order.
* Creation of a DNA database of suspected terrorists.
* Prohibition of any public disclosure of the names of alleged terrorists including those who have been arrested.
* Exemptions from civil liability for people and businesses who voluntarily turn private information over to the government.
* Criminalization of the use of encryption to conceal incriminating communications.
* Automatic denial of bail for persons accused of terrorism-related crimes, reversing the ordinary common law burden of proof principle. All alleged terrorists would be required to demonstrate why they should be released on bail rather than the government being required to demonstrate why they should be held.
* Expansion of the list of crimes eligible for the death penalty.
* The Environmental Protection Agency would be prevented from releasing "worst case scenario" information to the public about chemical plants.
* United States citizens whom the government finds to be either members of, or providing material support to, terrorist groups could have their US citizenship revoked and be deported to foreign countries.
So the question becomes, who and what defines a "terrorist group" or "terrorism?" - williamdyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@faskippy, 2nd
You don't have to kill to make government thugs ineffective. Drive them out of your community, out of your clubs and churches. Make sure their kids are marked for ill treatment at school. Make sure their wives hear every species of scandal about them. If you are part of the machinery of oppression you deserve to live constantly looking over your shoulder for the next nasty surprise. - littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"It's not a comfortable thing and can be extremely depressing to many."
No *****. The President of the United States? A Traitor? His Administration? Criminals? I took me almost 5 years to swallow that. A person must die to innocence. Not an easy thing to do given the way we were raised here in the US. But it must be done, or we're done. - JonForTheWin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The sad part is there are so many border-line retarded fake-conservatives out there I don't know if clubmasta2 is being sarcastic or is one of them and don't know whether to Digg his comment or bury it. God damn it. >_
- faskippy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I know what you mean. But convincing the masses to do that is futile. Sometimes you have to approach things like this in a way that doesn't shock people. Otherwise, they tend to lean toward what is comfortable. It is more effective to motivate those people to at least do SOMETHING, than to alienate them from the cause by scaring the ***** out of them. Get it???? BTW, you are not talking to a friggin sheep here. Read my other posts, see who you are talking to, or STFU.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Bury away since you have proven yourself to be just that - a SHEEPLE
- faskippy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That wouldn't be STACY Keach, would it? Now you've got some good kool-aid! Drink some more, you'll need it for the shearing.
- faskippy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Question EVERYTHING!!
- Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3If you can't tell that he isnt a conservative, you are an idiot.
- Keach, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2You guys are all a bunch of Conspiracy Freaks man. Where do you get your Tin-Foil Hats? I want one. Can someone turn up the Pink Floyd and pass me the Brownies. When is the next Moon-Bat Convention? You know, it's really the Subterranean Reptilians that are behind all of this. Yup. Feds have been hiding it from us for years. This is some good ***** man. Oh Yeah ...
- Ark7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1But don't question those Democrats! They're tough on terror!
Pssh... - richlizard24, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2The comments on this story are great. Thomas gets comment raped, over and over again.
- Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1You all do not understand what he was trying to say. He was simply stating that the Bill of rights what an addition to the constitution, and under the OPs logic, would be against the constitution in its original form. It was actually an interesting viewpoint, thus why i dugg him up.
- Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1had to bury 2nd, I hate anyone who uses the "word" sheeple.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2Yeah! and while we're at it, repeal those silly Bill of Rights! I want things back the way they started out!

What is Digg?
