- cmp1966, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3I don't care what happens to gas prices. My car died some time ago, and I never bothered to get it fixed. It was inconvenient at first, and an adjustment, but I found the savings reached far beyond gas. While the lack of a car hasn't kept me from getting to places I really need, it has eliminated unnecessary trips to this or that - which was an unforeseen savings that (while not a fortune LOL) made it clear just how many trips were sheer waste. I haven't missed the cost of insurance nor maintenance, either. While there are a few times I've thought it would be nice to have a car for this or that, it seems to me our ancestors made it all the way here and managed to reach both coasts long before cars were convenient. So what's the big deal? And if it's this important, why hasn't anyone mentioned hydrogen?
