- sexyloser, on 10/26/2009, -15/+81I'm a moderate who was alienated by the Republicans during Bush. I saw a government that turned a government surplus into a deficit. A government that mismanaged a war for 8 long years. Bush used American fear and apathy to further the Neocon's agenda which has lead to one failed and one failing war, a recession, and deep divisions in the nation.
After America voted the Democrats to power. I thought Democrats would start to make the changes that America voted them to make. But all I see is Democrats pandering to Republicans. This makes Democrats look weak not diplomatic. Do you think Republicans would give anything to the Democrats? No!! Democrats shouldn't worry about angry conservative voters. They have the liberal and moderate vote. I urge Democrats to grow a spine and stand up for progressive ideals. - Insightful, on 10/26/2009, -12/+48^

Ooohoo, look at me, I am a tough guy on the internet, shouting down the President of United States! I am a big man on the internet! LOUD NOISES! - alanocu, on 10/26/2009, -7/+42It's not as though he rides a Segway everywhere. Or his meetings with foreign leaders become nothing but crying and hugging. The author is correct that the Democratic party belongs to all kinds of people. My grandparents are Democrats, but they are not liberal Democrats. They didn't send their kids to college and they certainly don't swoon over Andrea Bocelli. I don't think there is anything wrong with making a person accountable for the promises they make. A giant sissy, Obama is not. If Barack's public addresses become just the words, “Stop being so mean to me!” before running away crying, then Charles M. Blow's choice of words to "Man-up" may be appropriate.
- dieyoung, on 10/26/2009, -5/+31You don't sound so moderate to me...
- Insightful, on 10/26/2009, -8/+33Even if Obama did not win the Presidential election in 2009 and became the proverbial most powerful men on earth, he still grew up in a single parent family, studied his way through college first at Occidental, then Columbia, then Harvard Law, married another Harvard Law grad, taught at University Chicago and became a State Senator then United States Senator. That alone is some achievement.
But most important of all, at least he is not writing an editorial for WSJ or posting on Digg. - kward711, on 10/26/2009, -6/+31"But only Obama was privileged enough to raise $1 billion and buy his way into Washington."
still upset because you lost I see. Remember when the democrats were complaining that Bush cheated his way into the white house and the republicans told us "you lost. get over it"? Hypocrites. - bluedostoevsky, on 10/26/2009, -3/+27YOUR PICTURE IS A CONFEDERATE FLAG MAN.
- flibbittygiblet, on 10/26/2009, -2/+23What are you talking about, it's expensive as hell where I live.
- D1Foley, on 10/26/2009, -9/+29Wow you mean a President got elected then discovered that real world situations might make some things he promised in the campaign impossible to acomplish? Crazy that never happens! Running a political campaign is like playing football, actual governing is like baseball, just because you liked the way Obama played football doesn't mean you know anything about how he's going to play baseball.
- flibbittygiblet, on 10/26/2009, -4/+21way to comment on a link that's complaining about the exact thing you're doing in your comment on the link.
- GoKings, on 10/26/2009, -8/+24Bush was able to push a war, homeland security, and a massive prescription drug program through, without nearly the massive majority that the Democrats have. I want Obama to push health-care through the way Bush pushed the Iraq war. The bottom line is that he is the president, and has taken on the most important job in the world. So yes, it is time to man up and do something.
- sexyloser, on 10/26/2009, -7/+21Left-leaning moderate then.
But I become more liberal because I think the system is broken and Democrats seem more reform-friendly. - caution, on 10/26/2009, -1/+13FTA
"The penchant for personally taking the president of the U.S. to the woodshed is an example of that special arrogance that Baby Boomers introduced to this society. "
This guy is right. He's calling out Obama's critics on the left.
I wonder if there will ever be a political climate of give and take where common sense prevails? - orlandogeek, on 10/27/2009, -0/+12It's really not about falling in line with the President politically, it's about the sheer amount of information that is easily proven false that they are feeding the American population in the guise of news.
- Dregganaut, on 10/27/2009, -1/+12I guess the "Obama plays golf!" talking point has hit.
- inactive, on 10/27/2009, -2/+13obama's background was fortunate? lol, under what measure?
- dieyoung, on 10/26/2009, -2/+13What a great article man. Whether you're left or right, this is probably applicable to someone you know haha
- bluedostoevsky, on 10/26/2009, -5/+16baseball sucks
- supferrets, on 10/27/2009, -0/+10Obama never claimed to be pro-life. Ever.
- EricSchC1, on 10/26/2009, -4/+14"Suck it, lefties. Maybe if you had real jobs you wouldn't have so much time to whine."
...Says the 35-year old posting to digg in the middle of the day. Just sayin'... - enantiodromia, on 10/27/2009, -3/+13"A 29 year-old dude from Booth, Alabama (US) who joined Digg on October 5th, 2009"
Somewhere, a bridge has been left unprotected... - EricSchC1, on 10/26/2009, -4/+14Based on your screenname and avatar alone (nevermind the inferences in your post), I'm guessing you're about 3-5 days away from a well-deserved banning.
- jmoore4ska, on 10/27/2009, -0/+10this is likely a "Leave Britney alone" joke. nobody needs to get all a-flustered.
- TsuruchiBrian, on 10/27/2009, -1/+10Fox News is not news. They are a propaganda tool.
I did not even vote for Obama, but I think he is doing exactly the right thing by ignoring them.
Fox News is just as bad as (if not worse than) the worst of the hysterical far-left wing propaganda.
In the same way that President Obama is not granting interviews to PETA, he should also not grant interviews to the fascist douchebags at Fox. - clankypants, on 10/27/2009, -3/+12When the right has gone hard to the right and the left has moved to the center, yeah, that's where us moderates are.
I almost feel bad for the hard left since they don't seem to have any representation any more. - lead2thehead, on 10/27/2009, -0/+9WHOOSH! That's the sound of this comment flying over your head.
- medost, on 10/26/2009, -5/+13BTW, i love facing dangers. :)
- TheLee, on 10/26/2009, -3/+10the problem with bush was not only that he did all those things, the problem was that he was able to push those bad things so easily and so demandingly. if obama starts ramming everything through congress and through the people, then he's no better than bush. what immediately marks obama currently as superior to bush's end term is that obama is still trying to be a coalition president, not an ideological one.
you lack the ability to empathize with a viewpoint not your own. - quirkopatra, on 10/26/2009, -4/+11You know, I was reading a first lady biography recently and she said something in the book that really was enlightening. She said an incumbent in a debate was at a disadvantage because they had lots of confidential information advising their decisions, but they couldn't reveal that info when debating why they did something or didn't do something.
I imagine that after all the twinkly promises and sheen of campaigning as the hero that was going to ride in and save everything...I imagine that Barack Obama got his first top secret meeting about the things going on and shat in his pants a little.
Just because you promised it, doesn't mean that once you are in the office...it is prudent to deliver.
This is a great OpEd for all those who hate the WSJ as right-wing propaganda. - inactive, on 10/27/2009, -0/+7Granted, but Bush spent 879 days on vacation in 8 years. That's 110 days a year of vacation. That's a ***** 1/3rd of a year. He spent 1/3rd of his presidency on vacation.
So you can shut the ***** up now. - Alphabet, on 10/27/2009, -2/+9who the ***** cares, it's 24 rounds of golf. A round of golf takes like 3 to 5 hours, or even less depending on the course.
Why don't you compare the number of vacation days between Bush and Obama, because that's more important in determining who's working and who's not. Spoilers, Bush has the all-time record by a huge margin. The only difference is that Bush didn't spend it all playing golf. - Blinker1315, on 10/26/2009, -1/+8Heresy.
- stooge4ever, on 10/27/2009, -2/+9The fox thing is not about who's falling in line with the president and who is not. It's about deliberately spreading lies and misinformation in order to discredit the president in any way possible, legitimate or not. Obama's shutting them down because they don't feel the need to identify where the truth ends and the lies/opinions start.
Oh, and Glenn Beck has yet to deny that raped and murdered a little girl in 1990. - zlatinb, on 10/26/2009, -1/+8Are you trying to say he's not going to pay my mortgage bill?
- Greyscale88, on 10/27/2009, -0/+6I think Hetman meant to say that all Presidents have been well off dudes at the time they became President.
- rocknog, on 10/26/2009, -1/+7Given that it's coming from the Wall Street Journal, it could be a trojan horse maneuver designed to get people off Obama's back and make them ignore the fact that he's easily pushed around. /conspiracy theory
- bluelines, on 10/27/2009, -1/+7Poor baby. Did that scary Obama man take away your freedoms?
It's all in your head. - Hetman, on 10/26/2009, -6/+12These days? All of our presidents have come from fortunate backgrounds.
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 10/26/2009, -27/+32LEAVE BARACK OBAMA ALONE!
- nabe, on 10/27/2009, -1/+6Yeah, they are exactly the same... I guess that's why Fox network likes him so much...
- wreckosaurus, on 10/27/2009, -0/+5It's not a grueling job? Being the president? And I'm sure gas station attendants get death threats daily from right wing skin heads, idiot.
- rabidjester, on 10/27/2009, -4/+9Protip: When 15 of you come in here at the same time and whine about the POTUS golfing a lot, everyone can tell you were just sent here from a blog to *****.
- orlandogeek, on 10/27/2009, -0/+5Sorry, but there are numerous videos clearly illustrating the spreading of information that is blatantly false and pathetically easily proven so by even the slightest amount of research.
Does that mean that everything on their network is like this? No, certainly not. I don't recall implying or saying that though.
As far as I'm concerned if this negativity towards FOX News marginalizes them and encourages people to check the facts, then we are all better off. - quirkopatra, on 10/26/2009, -0/+5Glad you added the
/conspiracy theory.
I lol'ed....and Dugg your comment.
Senses of humor are too often political casualties. - Dregganaut, on 10/27/2009, -3/+8I love it when dudes who registered in the last few months rant about "liberal Digg"
- wreckosaurus, on 10/27/2009, -4/+8"Lately I feel like somebody made a big mess and I've got my mop and I'm mopping the floor and the folks who made the mess are there (saying) 'you're not mopping fast enough. You're not mopping the right way. It's a socialist mop.'" -Obama
- vision777, on 10/27/2009, -0/+4It's not like it's just him that gets to dictate what will happen. If it was we would have the healthcare platform he ran on. We all should be smart enough to know it the US the president has to work with congress to pass legislation. It is a give and take process and the ideas presidents run on does not mean congress will support those same ideas.
- TsuruchiBrian, on 10/27/2009, -1/+4Left/right wing is a false dichotomy.
People who can't think for themselves need their "side" to tell them what their other beliefs are. It also makes it easy for them to try to categorize other people.
I'm not going to choose between a giant douche and a turd sandwich. - rgersmrk, on 10/27/2009, -0/+3I want Obama to do nothing Bush did. I don't want him to fake evidence to push a war. I don't want him to skirt the constitution to get his healthcare reform bill passed. I don't want him to form a government agency that will screw up other government agencies and allow things like the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to happen.
I think the reason why Obama got elected is because many, many people do not want him to be more like Bush. - RavagesOfTime, on 10/27/2009, -1/+4America didn't get attacked in Obama's first 8 month's in office, just so you know.
