Lies, Damn Lies and Government Inflation Statistics
huffingtonpost.com — The possibility that inflation could even reach double digits should start to resolve today s central debate: whether this decade s unhappy U.S. economy is more like that of the depression 1930s or that of the stagflationary 1970s. Alas, there are elements of both.

Nonetheless, the dollar has lost 85% of its value since Nixon left office in disgrace. Yet we persist in electing robber barons to the White House...are we just ***** stupid?
America is turning into Mexico. No wonder they call 'em "Banana Republicans".

We are so *****. - fancypantscz, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1FTA: Maybe our presidential candidates should take a break from discussing how many troops to move from Iraq to Afghanistan or vice versa and start publicly discussing the extent to which a fundamental mismanagement of the U.S. economy rests on a framework of what can bluntly be described as lies, damn lies and statistics.
Its as if a threshold has been crossed where the political elite from both parties have determined that revealing our federal government's ludicrous fiscal irresponsibility would paint the entire political class as such criminals that presenting voters with economic facts actually based on reality would spell doom for either party.
There are so many elephants in the room these days it takes a lot not to get crushed.
