Lethal disconnect at Virginia Tech - by Joseph Farah
worldnetdaily.com — A protest is planned at Virginia Tech University on April 16, on the one-year anniversary of the VTU massacre. The protest is to demand MORE gun control. So, what exactly do these protesters have in mind? Presumably, it is to ban civilian firearms off campus, too, throughout the rest of the country. Gungrabbers just don't get it. Farah is right on!

- prometheus70, on 04/14/2008, -1/+10Would someone explain how you can get more stringent than zero tolerance. What exactly are they protesting for?
- MouseyTung, on 04/14/2008, -0/+3its in the article they want guns to be banned in the entire state
- prometheus70, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2Putting aside any problems that may arise from that pesky little founding document. Have they considered the surrounding states and how access there may work against prohibition in West Va. I have lived in the South where gun laws are liberal and now I live in NY city where there is an effective ban. Believe me I felt safer in the South where my right to defend myself was respected and I did not have to depend on the government. Thanks for your response in any case.
- aerostar, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3Right on, pal. I live in the south and I have a 40 cal semi-auto pistol (I'm ex law enforcement... now, it was standard issue), a 41cal revolver, two 22 cal revolvers, one 22 semi-auto rifle, two 30.06 semi-auto rifles, a 7 mm semi-auto magnum rifle, two 30 cal Winchester lever-action and 4 semi-auto 12 guage shotguns and one 50 cal muzzle-loader. As you probably imagine, I am an avid hunter, and I'm very proficient with my guns, I've been properly trained, and nobody... NO-BODY even tries to mess with me.
Crooks, thugs and known criminals & jail breakers all flooded to my area after Katrina. We had a short spate of lawlessness from the low-lifes from New Orleans, but when they were either shot & killed (while in the commission of their attempted robberies) or remarkably wounded (an experience they'll NEVER forget) or ran before the shots could be fired... in mere weeks these thugs either moved on to more "inviting" pickings, or they were dead & buried, or jailed.
Bottom line, our GUNS, safeguarded our community & our problems ENDED!
Sara Brady will never understand, but we have a VERY law-abiding area... BECAUSE of personal gun ownership...! Cheers. Semper Fi

- alanhlake, on 04/14/2008, -1/+7One of the things this tells me is that the money Virginia taxpayers are sending to that institution is being wasted in paying the salaries of the willfully ignorant who are indoctrinating rather than educating the young mush-heads. Will someone please send these kids copies of "The Patriot's Handbook"?
- viejoverde, on 04/14/2008, -1/+4What did you expect? This is the crap that are teaching in 99% of universities and why the country is selfdestructing. Unless parents get their children out of the government schools indoctrination centers into private ones, there will be no hope for this nation.
- RuffRidr, on 04/14/2008, -1/+9Gun control is the only kind of policy that we have where the proponents of it will point to its utter failure as evidence that we need even more of it.
- readwriteblue, on 04/14/2008, -0/+4Sadly it is not the only policy that that is true for i.e. Homelessness/Welfare
- kgregt, on 04/14/2008, -1/+2Right, just about every liberal institution is that way- education, social security, medicare, etc...."if we only had a few million more dollars"

- Phatsoundz, on 04/14/2008, -1/+4good gunman can stop a bad gunman everytime.
- werwolf96, on 04/14/2008, -1/+2Republicans should bring democrats' feet to the fire for their support of the Brady Campaign. How dare they exploit this tragedy to promote their unconstitutional agenda! Barack Obama and Hillary "Annie Oakley" Clinton should be pressed to condemn the Brady Campaign.
- ROaks, on 04/14/2008, -3/+1WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Republicans should bring democrats' feet to the fire for their support of the Brady Campaign". Oh the things I could say about that, but will not in my effort to help keep this a family friendly forum. LOL with all do respect werwolf96 you have to be kidding or did you forget to add the sarcasim tag.
- Kythas, on 04/14/2008, -1/+3My girlfriend and I got in our first fight over my gun this weekend. She doesn't want me carrying it everywhere and doesn't see the need for me to.
I brought up Virginia Tech as one of my reasons for carrying. I explained that one person with a CCL could have saved many of those lives. Her response was "Did you think that maybe they were meant to die? Maybe it was their time and that's how it was meant to happen?"
I then pointed out "If that happens around me, and I have my gun, would you think that I was meant to be there with my gun and stop it? That THAT would be meant to happen?"
She didn't see the logic in that at all. We decided to find some type of compromise in the future regarding my carrying, most likely by my carrying a smaller caliber gun (.380 vs .40). I'm not happy with carrying something smaller than a .40, but will consider it to ensure domestic tranquility.- ssn697, on 04/14/2008, -1/+1Boy, I really wanted to comment, but edited it out.
- ROaks, on 04/14/2008, -0/+2The start of gun control.
- congresssucks, on 04/14/2008, -0/+2Get another girlfriend. My girlfriend yes, my dog maybe, my gun never.
- aerostar, on 04/16/2008, -1/+1Amen, cs. Well put...!
- kgregt, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1Dump her.

- Wolfpack46, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1the first encounter at VT I do believe was between an African student and a teacher/the African student did not like his grade and just like in his country decided to teach the teacher a lesson with his own weapon. An off duty police man and a civilian with a ccl stopped the fellow. I heard of this or read long ago but I haven't found any references, will stand to correction, anyone.
K. don't you ever dare to leave your weapon at home, keep that piece close, clean and ready always.
- aerostar, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Prometheus (above) is right! I live in the south and I personally own a 40 cal semi-auto pistol (I'm ex law enforcement... now... It was standard issue), a 41cal revolver, two 22 cal revolvers, one 22 semi-auto rifle, two 30.06 semi-auto rifles, a 7 mm semi-auto magnum rifle, two 30.30 cal Winchester lever-action and 4 semi-auto 12 guage shotguns and one 50 cal muzzle-loader. As you probably imagine, I am an avid hunter, and I'm very proficient with my guns, I've been properly trained, and nobody... NO-BODY even tries to mess with me.
Crooks, thugs and known criminals & jail breakers all flooded to my area after Katrina. We had a short spate of lawlessness from the low-lifes who fled New Orleans, but when they were either shot & killed (while in the commission of their attempted robberies, here) or seriously wounded (an experience they'll NEVER forget) or ran away before the shots could be fired... In mere WEEKS, these thugs either moved on to more "inviting" pickings (read: Liberal areas), or they were dead & buried, or jailed.
Bottom line... our GUNS, safeguarded our community & our problems ENDED!
Sara Brady will never understand, but whether she understands or agrees or not... we have a VERY law-abiding area... BECAUSE of personal gun ownership...!
