- monsoon86, on 10/12/2007, -23/+84The way Limbaugh mocked Fox is just shameful. That jerk had no justification for doing that.
- blablaman, on 10/12/2007, -12/+43digggroupie should obtain some knowledge about Parkinson's disease before making retarded comments.
- Aeon53, on 10/12/2007, -16/+31How many weeks a year is one eligible to be Olberman's "worst person in the world"? I think Limbaugh should get honorable mention every single week. What a malignant piece of bat crap! Happy Halloween
- StarManta, on 10/12/2007, -11/+26diigggroupie just obtained his knowledged from Rush's show...
- cwalk, on 10/12/2007, -18/+32Once again Olbermann gets it right.
- Shayer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14The fact that Nancy Grace rates so high means that News has completely gone to hell.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Congratulations, you win the hypocrite award!
You criticize Olbermann for being a sensationalist (after calling people who agree with him on this one issue "crazy lefties"), and then you 'spew' at people to form their own thoughts when the only thoughts that seem correct to you are your own. - Shabadoo, on 10/12/2007, -9/+18He may not be higher in the ratings, but he's certainly higher than them in integrity and credibility.
- CZzyzx41, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Well...it's where Sportscenter rejects end up. You'll be seeing Harold Reynolds on CNN anytime now.
- priceless721, on 10/12/2007, -15/+21comedian rush limbaugh?
dude i am second away fom marking this an inaccurate
jk yeah what a tool - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+15@palindrome
We're 'crazy-lefties' because we think someone who makes fun of a Parkinson's sufferer is a douchebag? - theone3, on 10/12/2007, -15/+21I used to have respect for Olbermann. After seeing this segment, it's completely gone. If not for his left-wing stance, he's completely indistinguishable from a raving right-wing lunatic. I used to think he spoke with reason. I downloaded and listened to his special comments. Now I see his motives are no different from O'Reilly. This kind of garbage should not be tolerated from anyone. This 'worst person in the world' ***** is absolutist, factless, conjecture-driven ratings-grabbing meaningless tripe. He's just pandering to his listeners, and in that sense, he's no better than the far right wing. The only difference is that he's not inadvertently ***** up America.
- spartan777, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7is this the hard hitting journalism liberals have been asking for?
- platypibri, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14Rush aside, Keith Olbermann really ought to go back to calling baseball games.
- millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13Awesome mugshot he got of Rush, too. Pretty much his best representation.
- KriLL3.2™, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12MikeKnoop: If you had any clue what so ever you would know that his condition isn't fixed, it's quite varied since without the drugs he cant move more than a fraction, and with tiny bit too much of the drugs he spasms.
I compared a light bulb after and before it was smashed, it must be broken all the time. - bishop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The easy way to settle this is for you to read the bill and you will see for yourself.
- ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10What do you mean squandering his street cred? Anyone who supports Rush Limbaugh has no street cred.
By the way, the drugs Fox was on make him squirm. Without the drugs, he twitches violently.
And Rush had a TV show. Why would Olbermann be jealous of someone whose show was canceled only a year or so after it was started? - palindrome12, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Yeah and he didn't even read the amendment he was campaigning for...
- techweenie1, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9hah you really have no room to speak madam, wishing someone let a lone a group of people dead is far worse than Rush Limbaugh or even Olbermann telling someone to go back on their drugs..out of line.
- mrkmrk, on 10/12/2007, -10/+14It's the medicine that makes him move like that. You're just as stupid as Limbaugh. Why are you so eager to throw blame on people who deserve none?
- Shabadoo, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13As does your posts.
- raisinbran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@alex.will
First of all, 'crazy lefties' wasn't my wording. That was taken from you and the original poster. Second, telling people to think for themselves isn't 'spewing' at them. If it was my choice of the word 'spew' to describe the likes of Limbaugh and Olbermann that caused you to pass judgement on me as being hypocritical, then you are guilty of the same judgement because you used it as well. I disagree with that, however.
Finally, no where did I state that my own thoughts are the only correct thoughts. On the contrary, I specifically said people should come up with their own thoughts on the issues.
For the record, I dugg your reply up because it gave me a chuckle. Thanks for that. - drizek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8No, without the drugs he is unable to move at all. The squirming is a side effect of the drugs, not his disease.
- MixMastaKooz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@bishop
Excuse me, but I hate to tell you this, but according to John Danforth, former Republican senator from Missouri, the bill does NOT legalize cloning, and makes it explicitly illegal. Would the honorable John Danforth lie to his fellow Republicans?
Please watch this video before you reply. Thank you.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qY7SYQSYtCI - drizek, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11And ratings are indirectly proportional to credibility and integrity. See Bush, Nader.
- brentris, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Limbaugh (and O'Reilly too for that matter) should be considered an actor/comedian/character and not a legitimate journalist or critic.
- cbearnm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3WhiskeyDrinker, great post.
These shows (Olbermann, O'Reilly, Hannity & Colmes, Rush, etc..) ARE NOT NEWS SHOWS. They are opinion shows. Purely editorial.
Only fools get their news from such sources. The sad thing is that the newspapers are becoming a complete breeding ground for opinion as news. I lost faith in all of them about a year ago in a piece about Al Gore (AP). The first paragraph ended with:
"Al Gore, who lost the 2000 Presidential election only after the Supreme Court become involved ..."
What ??????
He never won the election, EVER. Not the initial count, not after the official recount, not after all of the newspaper recounts. In most of those he didn't even gain many votes at all. The only thing that the US Supreme Court did was to re-affirm that the Florida laws (drafted and approved by Democrats) were to be followed. They over turned the overstepping of the Florida SC (which created law, instead of enacting it through legislation, and enforcing the existing laws)
Yet here is an AP story that so blatantly insert opinion as fact. People really need to realize what the branches of government are there for. Congress/Senate pass legislation to make laws, Courts are to interpret those laws, not create new laws. If they find a violation of Constitutionality, they send the law back to be reworked. - techweenie1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4At this point I don't think even ESPN would want him back.
- moth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Drizek
It's not quite as clear cut as your idea of not being able to move without the drugs. He can move, its just that he isn't necessarily able to control his movements. For intense, He may not be able to speak when his drugs are not working, because he can't control his lips. The drugs make him squirm like that, give him foot cramps, and screw with his depth perception. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Let's state some facts.
About Rush:
1) Rush Limbaugh stated that Michael J Fox had not taken his meds or was acting, and called him "shameful", and said he was a tool for the democrats. Every single bit of that was wrong.
2) Rush Limbaugh did not attack the issue, he attacked MJF personally.
3) Rush Limbaugh has still not apologized.
The only reasonable conclusion from this is that Rush Limbaugh is a *****.
About MJF:
1) He campaigns for both republicans and democrats.
2) He did not exaggerate or fake his condition. That's what it looks like.
3) He has lashed out at Rush.
The only reasonable conclusion from this is that MJF is an honorable campaigner for a worthy cause.
About Olberman:
1) Olberman is a centrist democrat.
2) Olberman did tell the old druggie ***** Rush to get back on his drugs.
The only reasonable conclusion is that Olberman was pissed off, and said a rather bad thing. However, *was* talking to a Rush the *****, who gets his jollies insulting soldiers and invalids, who had started it, and who richly deserved everything he got.
About stem cell research:
1) The issue here is if we're to do life-saving research on millimeter-sized clumps of cells, or throw them in the waste. There's no other option.
2) The bill does NOT advocate human cloning, and even if it did, wtf cares. Identical twins are human clones, you all know that right?
3) The only basis for objecting against stem cell research is religious. Specifically christian right religious, ie evangelicals and catholic religious; protestants, buddhist, or hindu don't give a *****.
The only reasonable conclusion is that stem cell research should be allowed.
Oh, and I almost forgot one conclusion: Rush is damn funny to the christian right, and extremely annoying to centrists and leftists; Olberman (and Colbert) are extremely annoying to the christian right, and interesting and damn funny to centrists and leftists. - mrmatchgame, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3He does a show for ESPN Radio, He still works for the company
- Shabadoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5"So I guess if he were at the top of the chart in ratings, he would be there because of integrity and credibility?"
No, he would be at the top of that charts because the viewers would finally have their heads screwed on straight. But since we can't depend on that, this is all an exercise in futility. - artbell, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8@theone: You are exactly right, its all about ratings..eyeballs. The key to success in business is knowing your audience and catering to them. I do not watch or agree with Olbermann, but man, everyone needs to make a buck.
- izzie2, on 10/12/2007, -11/+14I guess that the Dt's from vicodin made the screen shake a little bit for Rush.
- drizek, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I youtuve him a lot but TBH i dont know what time his show is on and i dontn know what channel msnbc is on so ive never seen him on tv.
- oxine, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10I'd say both of them are sensationalists, its what they do for a living. In Rushes case a very very good living. Either way anyone here who jumps on either bandwagon because "Rush is a drug addict" or because "is the downfall of life as we know it" is completely unable to think for themselves and just likes to follow all the lemmings off the cliff.
Rush is a drug addict, as far as we know a reformed addict. Olberman was only a little better on Sportscenter than he is on MSNBC's left wing bs. Michael Fox should have stayed off the air and out of politics if he wanted to keep his Parkinsons private. We should be smart enough to base our opinions on fact and vote with that power rather than belittle these Larry Flint wanna be's of Olberman and Rush. - mrmatchgame, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Dear Limbaugh,
You seem "Normal" when your on drugs.
In Closing,
MRMATCHGAME
P.S. Why do you have Viagra when your not married? - TheKlaw, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7I dugg you down because you're a douche, not because of liking or not liking facts. Besides, the ratings argument is about the least convincing thing I can think of.
- cbearnm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Olbermann realizes the only way he gets ANY press is by trying to make headline comments. Take on the big boy and you get press. He gets more hits on news articles than viewers to his show. Less than 500,000 viewers in a nation of 300 million.
Azur, as far as
"The only basis for objecting against stem cell research is religious. Specifically christian right religious, ie evangelicals and catholic religious; protestants, buddhist, or hindu don't give a *****."
People keep failing to see the argument here. It is not about stem cells, it is about EMBRYONIC stem cells. I am a protestant who gives a *****, who has friends of both Buddhist and Hindu faiths that also give quite a *****. Embryonic stem cells have given tumors and down stream cancer to EVERY mammal that they have tested on. UMBILICAL and ADULT stem cells have been showing incredible potential and are funded by the government. Adult stem cells have been studied for years and are currently being used and studied for Parkinson.
I wonder why organizations such as Planned Parenthood and NOW are so interested in funding the propoganda machine for EMBRYONIC stem cell research. You don't think that it legitimizes their agendas, re; abortion. ??
If MJF is as studied as he claims to be (and I think he is) he knows this distinction well. The is not going to be a magic pill to cure these horribly debilitating diseases, the closest we will come is going to come from umbilical cord stem cells. The embryonic issue is taking away valuable attention and research from this effort.
I can't wait for Nov 7 to be over so Digg can get back to being about the culture and the tech arena.
Kevin, you're well on your way to being very wealthy and are starting to act like it. You may not have cashed the checks yet, but you have fallen into the trap of thinking that noteriety brings intelligence. If the coverage of articles in Digg were more balanced, I would think you are doing a service, but inserting your opinion into public policy in such a forum is disappointing. See you sometime after the 7th. (Of course, we'll have the disenfranchisement stories for every Dem that loses, but we are expecting that.) Buy a beer for Olbermann, since you are giving him a bigger audience than his own show does.
BTW; you better get that cash before the Dems rewrite the tax code. You can save a bundle by doing so. - WhiskeyDrinker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Everything oxine said bears repeating. Why is it that whenever I come to digg and see Olbermann posts, and click the comments, it's nothing but a bunch of you practically felating the guy while putting down everyone on the other side of the fence who has basically the exact same job as him? These "journalists" are nothing more than video bloggers with network airtime instead of blogger.com or youtube to rant through. Everyone from Olbermann to O'Riley spews sensationalist partisan garbage. You want the news? Look for it yourself. It's about the only way to get proper information anymore.
Everyone is pushing an agenda. You want "fair and balanced"? Then you need to watch what both sides are saying and make logical conclusions yourself. Jumping on the Olbermann bandwaggon and pointing fingers makes you no better than the sheeple you mock.
And shame on Olbermann for suggesting someone go back to a debilitating drug habit. What the hell has journalism come to in this country? It's shameful. - gojeda, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Nothing like watching a washed-up sportscaster rant on national television.
- konspence, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8Not to join the bandwagon of saying "Why did this comment get dugg down?", but I found this comment humorous.
- creepyman, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10Wtf? Limbaugh is the worst person in the world because he claims Michael Fox was faking it for the commercial?
Seriously, olberman himself needs some drugs.
Fox is using his disease to promote embryonic stem cell research. Nothing wrong with that, but it means that Fox is up for discussion. If you make yourself a spokesman for something, and you use your disease for it, your symptoms should be able to be discussed.
Personally, I don't think Fox was faking it, and I think Limbaugh is just wrong about it, but it doesn't make him the worst person in the world. It only makes him wrong. - Bozodog, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Olbermann is an entertainer. Nothing more.
Limbaugh is an entertainer. Nothing more.
Streisand is an entertainer. Nothing more.
O'Reilly is an entertainer. Nothing more.
Why do we act like they are elected officials and give any credence to their "ideas"?
Why would we give them any more respect for their political thought than we would Bozo the Clown?
Another entertainer. - Barbarino, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2How did MSNBC avoid the axe when NBC was laying people off? Wasn't MS going to pull out a while back? Forget your stance on Fox News or Cnn, one would think MSNBC would copy Cnn and FN to for business sake! They will be gone soon and good ole Keith will be out of a job.
- raisinbran, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9@alex.will
No, you're crazy lefties because you fail to recognize that Olbermann is becoming the liberal equivalent of Rush Limbaugh.
Don't get me wrong here, I hate Rush and I think he's a total ass. However, I feel the exact same way about Olbermann. Both are sensationalists that add nothing, are purely focused on ratings, and are guilty of polarizing America even further.
Of course, if people would get off their asses and form their own coherent thoughts, none of us would have to listen to these two crackpots spew crap back and forth at each other all day. But it seems that the majority of people want opinions shouted at them - I guess it's easier that way.
Whew, I feel better now. - palindrome12, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8"He may not be higher in the ratings, but he's certainly higher than them in integrity and credibility."
So I guess if he were at the top of the chart in ratings, he would be there because of integrity and credibility? - pepe1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5
Limbaugh first claimed Fox didn't take his medication causing Fox to shake. When Limbaugh learned the medication actually produced the shaking, he claimed Fox deliberately didn't take the proper dosage. This man has no shame. - bishop, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6The bill is NOT about stem cell research.
Even though it has "stem cell" in the name, it is there to confuse people. The bill is about legalizing cloning of embryos and then using them in medical research.
Why discuss Rush, Fox or Olbermann? The real issue is should we allow cloning of embryo? The majority of people disagree with human cloning that's why they had to hide the true purpose of the bill. -
