Jon Stewart is correct - why aren't these 24-hour news channels investigating things like poverty in America, how difficult it is for a woman to get access to birth control or abortion in some states, life on reservations, etc.? How about covering the real cost of not having universal health care?
How about telling us what the real costs of the war in Iraq are? How's it affected the value of the dollar? How's that affected the cost of oil? Food?
How often do news items amount to nothing more than reiterating campaign points without analysis? How often do those campaign points go reported as fact? - inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+21dude, the MSM coverage of the DNC was a ***** joke. they look like amateurs. PBS had the whole coverage and was amazing.
- Catspaw, on 08/26/2008, -1/+19Lazy is a misleading word for what is occurring. This quote from David Rockefeller shows that there is a deliberate attempt to keep us in the dark:
"We are grateful to The Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the work is now much more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries."
* David Rockefeller (to Trilateral Commission) in 1991

- Tootie5347, on 08/26/2008, -0/+13You know it's true when you get more real news on a comedy show than you get on the news media shows.
I get mad as heck watching them as they make fools of themselves, their profession and the people who believe them. - inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+11The Pro Wrestling analogy was perfect. It's fake, it's phony, it's dramatic, it gets your heart pumping, it sucks you in, it's great for ratings, it's great theatre. But it's killing America. It's leading us to war after war, it's destroying the economy, it corrupts our elections, it's destroying Congress, it's creating corporate slaves out of a free people.
Turn off your TV and tune in to the internet. Pull your news so you have a choice, don't let the MSM push their daily propaganda down your throat. It's our duty as citizens to stay informed. - inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+11Funny but sad. The MSM is "hurting America" and they should "stop". I'm glad someone said it to their faces. Jon Stewart gets all the credit for speaking out.
- samyoungguitar, on 08/26/2008, -0/+10I love that he called all those ***** out to their faces. They carry quite a bit of responsibility for the state our nation is in. Horrible investigating, sensationalist reporting. Ratings drove us into war.
- charm803, on 08/26/2008, -1/+11It was hard to take him seriously with that Pee Wee Herman bowtie.......
And he didn't want to hear what Jon had to say. What a tool. - savantemeritus, on 08/26/2008, -0/+9Jon Stewart? ***** YEAH!
- LimeParrot, on 08/26/2008, -0/+8Man, after that video, I will forever respect John Stewart.
Can't believe that freaking idiot comparing CNN to Comedy Central... - CoolHandLuke70, on 08/26/2008, -0/+8I'm with Jon and glad that he left that show in ruins. Real news is sadly a thing of the past. Funny that you get more real news on the Daily Show and alternate internet sources than the mainstream media whores!
- mc5gunn, on 08/26/2008, -0/+7Amazing how it takes a fake news reporter to call out the traditional media for its shortcomings.
It was almost impossible to watch the 24-hour networks pander to whichever politician they were speaking to - Democratic or Republican. At least PBS didn't have the blaring graphics, the constant editorializing or the frequent commercial breaks.
What happened to journalism? - ivand67, on 08/26/2008, -1/+8Where's the video??
- algaeturd, on 08/26/2008, -1/+7Stewart has the balls and the luxury of saying what he wants. He writes a lot of his own material and obviously does a ton of improv on the show. Anchors are just puppets. They read the scripts and talking points handed to them by someone who got it off of the administration presses. The advertisers dictate content on news networks to a large degree as does the political leanings of the editors of the shows. Which isn't who you'd think it would be. Like stewart said, TV is just another tool to sway those with an inclination or predisposition to being swayed. I'm not shocked that so much of America is ignorant to that fact, I'm just surprised that they haven't had enough of it all by now. It's so blatantly obvious that the White House should run feel good commercials on Fox at this point. They run that network and there isn't even a hint of doubt anymore. It used to be a joke and now it's just shocking and nauseating that this is the way the mainstream media is...simply another business to push personal political agendas.
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+6Frankly I see nothing wrong with partisanship but Stewart is right, the arguments these partisan hacks are making are not honest and no one in the media intercedes to hold them to account.
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+6The MSM is the biggest threat to this country. Their idea of balance reporting is giving the Democratic talking points and the Republican talking points. It never occurs to the MSM to investigate facts or the possibility that both parties are lying.
Facts, you might have missed, the Federal Reserve has more than doubled the total money supply in the past 10 years, this is what is causing high prices and the recession. Bush got a National Intelligence Estimate before the Iraq war that Iraq posed no threat to American national security. Israeli agents were caught in a van packed full explosives on 911 after witnesses said they were celebrating the collapse of the WTC. Over 120 Israeli agents posing as Art Students were arrested around 911 after they were busted trying to infiltrate DEA and FBI office buildings. Larry Franklin is in jail for 7 years for passing classified information to AIPAC and Israel about Iran. AIPAC is on trial and the US federal government is trying to whitewash the whole thing. Nothing Sibel Edmonds has said is being reported.
This is just some things the media hasn't covered in the past couple years but it goes back decades. Just look at Walter Duranty of the NYT's calling Joesph Stalin's purges a "great social experiment". The media is not just lazy and incompetent, they are willing accomplices. - enduponyourown, on 08/26/2008, -0/+5http://www.lostremote.com/archive/001905.html
- lgoodman, on 08/26/2008, -0/+5Someone's gotta say it: Jon Stewart for President!
neh, he'd never do it. It's more of a Colbert kind of gig anyway. :) - dagnabbit, on 08/26/2008, -0/+4Sadly, Tucker Carlson continues to find work on "liberal" MSNBC alongside Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan. At least they made him lose the bow tie.
- sphira, on 08/26/2008, -0/+4It's killing America dead -
Open thy mind, feed it real facts,
and it will reward with the truth - - prophet74, on 08/26/2008, -0/+4These news agencies are too cheap to bother with fact gathering or checking. They rather feed us garbage. Like pigs at trough the public continues to eat it up.
- algaeturd, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2Actually, this is way more interesting than the story submitted.
- RealmDown, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2BREAKING gossip.
- aussiejan, on 08/26/2008, -1/+2People don't want news anymore. They want gossip.
- EatingPie, on 08/26/2008, -1/+2While it is a real criticism of the media, the Huffington Post does quite the opposite in many of their articles. They take something that is true and stretch it beyond face value. They need to be more careful themselves.
-Pie - RealmDown, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1They smelled money and power.
