- Rabbittt, on 05/27/2008, -1/+2Bush and McCain are correct, if you offer exit cash to a soldier, they are going to be tempted to take it.. But this begs the question, why are the reenlistment rates so important? Why is it so bad if a soldier takes a civilian role and goes to college? Maybe because the military is short handed? Well, then, another question is begged, that being WHY is the military short-handed?
And then we get to the nitty gritty of the whole thing: the GI Bill is incompatible with an Imperial War paradigm because it depletes an already depleted military resource.. In terms of conquest and destruction, this is unacceptable!
Don't be mad at Bush and McCain for fighting for their ability to wage war across the world, that's what they do, that's what they are.. It's a surprise that they act this way? - DaDrake, on 05/27/2008, -0/+1But McCain bill actually includes funding while the GI bill does not (and has a lot of "incentives" aka wasteful spending on stupid projects).
- spinchange, on 05/27/2008, -0/+1"John McCain is going against veterans groups; he is going against a constituency that should be his... But I think he is on the wrong side of this issue," Rollins said. "A lot of Republicans are voting for this, and I think to a certain extent as it moves forward there will be more and more. There will be tremendous pressure from veterans groups past and present and I think you will see a lot of bipartisan support for this as well."

Your reasoning is that of a child.
