- Diefree, on 07/08/2009, -20/+240Wow....just wow....this is unbelievable. There is absolutely NO defense for this kind of idiotic Nazi crap.
- novenator, on 07/08/2009, -15/+158There is far more genetic diversity within a population than between populations. Any talk of racial "purity" denies the real science behind our species.
- WraTH017, on 07/09/2009, -9/+143Other species? Is he talking about Sean Hannity?
- AgeofMastery, on 07/08/2009, -12/+122I can't wait to see how they spin this one....
- obeythefist, on 07/08/2009, -12/+90And he's the SANEST of the three.
- Anomaly100, on 07/08/2009, -18/+92So, what would he like to do, have my 2 year old, beautiful, gorgeous, sweet niece, that comes from my white brother and his beautiful black wife, exterminated or deported? I'd like to ask this jackass what his solution to this problem HE has, would be. What is his solution, I really wonder...f-ing assh@le.
- mlrigsby, on 07/09/2009, -5/+76All the other obvious objections aside, genetic "purity" typically leads to an accumulation of deleterious phenotypes. This is what we commonly know as inbreeding.
Breeding (though I hate to use that term to describe human reproduction) between ethnic groups improves genetic diversity, and therefore decreases the risk of genetic disease. - inactive, on 07/09/2009, -3/+45I like the use of the Fox News question mark in the title.
I'm not saying your mother is a whore. I'm just asking... - Hillsfar, on 07/09/2009, -3/+36Africans have greater genetic diversity. Those outside of Africa have less genetic diversity.

There is also the concept of hybrid vigour or heterosis. When genes from two groups are mixed, it can (not always, but often) lead to greater strengths in the offspring.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterosis
The opposite is inbreeding depression. "Some Amish groups have a very limited gene pool. For example, the vast majority of Amish in Lancaster County, PA, are descendents of about 200 Swiss citizens who emigrated in the mid 1700s. Because they traditionally do not marry outsiders and because few outsiders have joined the order, the 'community has been essentially a closed genetic population for more than 12 generations.' Thus, intermarriage has brought to the fore certain genetic mutations that were present in the initial genetic pool (as they are in any population), making the Amish host to several inherited disorders. These include dwarfism, mental retardation and a large group of metabolic disorders.

As an aside, I hear that all Nazi sympathizers curl up in a corner and die after suffering horrible pain. - NorrisOBE, on 07/09/2009, -3/+31Wow, we live in a world where a mixed-raced dude is the President of the USA, and yet this man is talking about "marrying people from other ethnics",
What a douche. Doesn't this guy knows that the USA, along with the UK, Canada, Europe, Malaysia and Singapore are melting pots of different cultures? Isn't that what makes America great in the first place?
And talking about Swedes and Finns, more and more Swedes are trying to run away from the "Blonde Haired, Blue Eyed" personality and are marrying non-Swedes from different races. Case in point: Tiger Woods. - dissolutionman, on 07/09/2009, -1/+29Someone on the set starts whistling "If I Only Had a Brain" from The Wizard of Oz at the end of the clip. Awesome.
- enkideridu, on 07/09/2009, -4/+31I like how the guy listening to the ***** went 'huh' at the end
- aussiejan, on 07/08/2009, -6/+31Ah, again with the "typical white woman" comment. I agree Obama did not say this well but what he was saying was that a white woman raised when his grandmother was typically had a fear of black people. This remark is not offensive or racist in the least. It is factual. It would be no different than me saying "a typical black boy in the inner cities has more chance of joining a gang than going to college". Also not a racist statement.
typical: exhibiting the qualities or characteristics that identify a group or kind or category
In Obama's example, the group was white women raised early in the 20th century. My example group was black boys in the inner city. - WasabiBomb, on 07/09/2009, -3/+28@Defuser- that sound you hear right now is Digg collectively pointing its fingers at you and laughing.
Again. - wpi97, on 07/09/2009, -2/+27"There is far more genetic diversity within a population than between populations."
Well, that really depends on which populations you are talking about. Some populations certainly certainly exhibit more genetic diversity than others, e. g. Americans vs. Icelanders.
But if anything, lack of genetic diversity makes genetic diseases
more likely, because there is a greater chance of inheriting a defective gene from both of your parents, meaning that the error will not be corrected, and will cause the disease. AFAIK, it is not yet clear whether Alzheimer's is caused by a genetic defect, but if it is, it would be more wide spread in more homogeneous populations.
I am also really curious to know which other species we are marrying here in the US. I don't even know if so ridiculous a comment can be called offensive. - Grym11, on 07/09/2009, -0/+23@Defuser
The scientific concept, you're talking about (if you care to know) is called "homozygous advantage." For many species it holds true, but not for modern ***** sapiens (also known as humans, in case you didn't know).
Why? Because we aren't necessarily beholden to our environments anymore. If you're less tolerant of the sun, you can wear sunscreen. If you're less tolerant to the heat, you can get air conditioning. Even in the most extreme cases, homozygous advantage doesn't apply. For instance, populations that have lived in the Andes mountains have developed genetic adaptations that allow them to breathe in much lower concentrations of oxygen than normally allowed. And yet, still, most tourists to these mountains are still able to survive and even enjoy themselves by supplementing their oxygen.
But if not the environment, what are humans subject to? Their own genes. To some extent this can be compensated by technology. For instance, someone with myopia can wear glasses, but even with today's technology, genetic defects are often untreatable and sometimes fatal. This is particularly relevant in the case of recessive genetic disorders, where the extreme effects of a homozygous recessive trait can be masked. This creates a situation where heterozygotes are superior, because of a reduced likelihood of genetic disorders.
In practice, however, this is often difficult to take advantage of because our assignment of race is completely arbitrary and based upon the phenotype of an individual and not his or her genotype. So, for instance, a black and white couple in Claxton, Georgia (a historic site of genetic sampling) might actually have more genes in common than a random black-black couple. If you doubt this, ask yourself, how much ancestry is there in common between the aboriginals of New Zealand and native Africans? Yet we still classify both under the broad term of "black."
So, in the future, before you act all indignant when people don't accept your backward views, don't try to defend them as in any way scientific, because they are not. Besides, let's be honest... inter-racial marriage doesn't bother you or people like Brian Kilmeade because of any deep "scientific" analysis. It bothers you because you're a damn ignorant racist. - obeythefist, on 07/08/2009, -10/+33Wait a minute... how does this square with this?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/21/mayhem-at ... - rabidjester, on 07/09/2009, -1/+23Wow, he actually did say species. Time to put the pamphlets down.
- KahRahTay, on 07/09/2009, -0/+22Congratulations, You're an idiot.
- obeythefist, on 07/08/2009, -3/+25When you're not high anymore, check out the video in that link. This same guy stormed out over his co-hosts' inability to take the comment in context and stop bashing on Obama. Now he's babbling about pure races and interbreeding species?
- strucKture, on 07/09/2009, -5/+26It's definitely a prerequisite.
- Samohtneas, on 07/09/2009, -4/+25Did you pick this line up from your Logic professor's lesson on fallacies? It sure as hell sounds like something mine said.
- Diefree, on 07/09/2009, -2/+22Defuser the man was talking about racial purity as if there should be laws on who a person can marry. That shows his true colors, then I bet you didn't even watch the video.
- giveer, on 07/09/2009, -0/+19Oh.. and there goes 'whitesaint' again - winning 'em over with God's love. What a trooper.
- A11YND, on 07/09/2009, -3/+21Perhaps.. his solution would be final?
- ninavicci, on 07/09/2009, -2/+20Nazi? Maybe so, and maybe not. Either way, this guy is one of the dumbest pieces of ***** I've ever seen on TV... Besides ... nah, he's the dumbest piece of ***** I've ever seen on TV.
- ygeoff419, on 07/09/2009, -0/+17Please don't breed.....
- bhussobama, on 07/09/2009, -8/+25The only really surprising thing here is that a FOX News personality actually came out and said what they've been furiously hinting at and suggesting for years. The language of racial hostility and conflict is spoken at FOX, and I'm sure they'd fit right in at an early Nazi-Germany propaganda ministry.
- vinod1978, on 07/09/2009, -1/+18I don't think it meant it that way - but sometimes mistakes shows a person's true colors...
I'm Indian and I married a Romanian - he must think our children will be freaks :) - bhussobama, on 07/09/2009, -4/+20But this is actually the exact line of reasoning behind Nazi eugenics programs, Scandanavians and all.
- TheEggAndI, on 07/09/2009, -1/+17a horribly failed attempt at pointing out 'reductio ad hitlerum' where it did not exist
- fraglerock, on 07/09/2009, -0/+16I think you're in the wrong discussion.
The religious story is over there. ----> - FervinsUlterius, on 07/09/2009, -0/+16Hyperactive mentally retarded obese Amish dwarves?
- dn11, on 07/09/2009, -2/+17genetic differences within the human population =/= "another species". genetic sameness =/= "a pure society". That's terminology straight out of the KKK. And on the contrary - inter breeding within a genetically similar population leads to more genetic disfunction, not less.
- MatchM, on 07/09/2009, -4/+19Let's give him the benefit of the doubt, that he was actually trying to say that different races have different health issues; and Finland and Sweden have a population of more Caucasian race than any other, so the findings there would not apply to other countries such as the US.
But he is a complete idiot for using the word species, cause last time I checked being human is the species not that race of that person in question.
This is why I don't watch Fox news. - Yage2006, on 07/09/2009, -4/+18Don't feel alone though you are part of the 1% of digger Nazi's that dont like being ridiculed.
Also about that pure breeding of animals. Causes many genetic diseases.
Your just full of disinformation aren't you ? - DavidCEisen, on 07/09/2009, -0/+13Actually he stated that the moon has gravity of the same strength as the Earth. When people pointed out he was wrong he started calling them "Libtards".
- A11YND, on 07/09/2009, -1/+14last I checked a "Pure race" was the goal of all those who hate other ethnic groups. Plus, if you say you admire a pure race and think we should more like them, thats just being a racist and spouting the ol' lines of Goebbels.
- Hillsfar, on 07/09/2009, -1/+14The problem with breeding animals for "pure bloodlines" is incest and inbreeding. Which, while concentrating desirable results, also concentrates undesirable results like congenital defects and lethal recessives.
- Anomaly100, on 07/09/2009, -2/+15It doesn't square with that. He's obviously got a severe split personality disorder. Weird, very weird...
- FortyCaliber, on 07/09/2009, -0/+13I'm not saying your mother is a whore; but she always seems to have a lot of money.
- lord2800, on 07/09/2009, -3/+15The problem with your line of reasoning is that you're assuming that purebreeding is a good thing. Genetic abnormalities and diseases are a bad thing, and anyone who promotes them from any angle is stupid.
- fxu1989, on 07/09/2009, -1/+12And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the result of inbreeding.
- inactive, on 07/09/2009, -3/+14The Nazi's didn't invent racism, eugenics, etc... and they don't corner the market on it either. In fact, there was a big movement of it going on in Britain and the US that influenced the Nazi's - so you could ask, "Is Brian Kilmeade an American?"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugenics
"Its most infamous proponent and practitioner was however Adolf Hitler who praised and incorporated eugenic ideas in Mein Kampf, and emulated Eugenic legislation for the sterilization of "defectives" that had been pioneered in the United States." - marshalkowski, on 07/09/2009, -1/+12God should be capitalized, whitesaint.
