Is Bob Barr the New Hope for America?
lewrockwell.com — "There is much excitement in some libertarian circles over the entrance of Bob Barr into the race for the Libertarian Party ’s nomination. I believe the excitement over the Barr candidacy is misplaced, will lead to disappointment, and that Barr should not receive the LP’s Presidential nomination."

- brad3378, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5I need to see more of this guy's platform.
Wikipedia is vague as well as his official campaign website.
Anyone have a good link to share? - rmtatum, on 05/13/2008, -0/+11Bob Barr is a shady man who defended his vote for the Patriot Act.
- D0ct0rN0, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5Shady is as shady does. Let us not be deceived by another Watergate Libertarian with ties to the Establishment, especially the Oil Establishment via pipeline monopolies, etc. We have had enough of that, what with phony articles paid for by foundations bankrolled by Big Oil without disclosure, knocking Ethanol via corn while not one word about ethanol via 20 crops that outstrip corn ethanol by factors of 2 to 9. It's all in "Alcohol Can Be A Gas" by David Blume http://ush2.com/
We can be energy Indy for auto transport using 1.5 percent of the lowest quality agricultural land out of a total 1.3 billion acres of Ag Land, saving the prime crop land for corn, wheat and soy.
The Tea for Opium for Silver trade of the Brit Empire is no different than the Drugs for Oil for Arms trade engineered by today's wanna be empire builders that benefit a select few and are peace and prosperity wreckers for the rest of us. - D0ct0rN0, on 05/13/2008, -0/+6We are already paying $15.00 a gallon for gasoline if You factor in National Defense which is a subsidy given to Big Oil. Empire is the reason. Remember that when You fill Your fuel tank. The price You pay is only a down payment.
Barr won't change that. - Semirhage527, on 05/13/2008, -0/+6Bob Barr was one of the most socially conservative members of Congress just a few years ago -- I'll never be able to trust that he's really become a Libertarian, after he spent a career fighting the War on Drugs and a hundred other Republican platforms.
- PongGod, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4I actually believe that Barr has had a genuine "epiphany" on the drug issue. However, he still has a lot of explaining to do on many other issues. Check out LastFreeVoice.com where they've been feverishly digging up the dirt on him recently.
- Billhaynes, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5My perception of Bob Barr is that he is more a conservative than a libertarian. Why not write in Ron Paul?
- skyorbit, on 05/13/2008, -0/+6Mary Ruwart is much more principled and Ron Paulian in her beliefs. Barr, while it's great that he's come around so much, and has the name recognition third parties crave, he still has a long way to go before the Party of Principle should support him as their nomanie. - D0ct0rN0, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1We need to know who brought Barr into the Libertarian fold.
Was it one of Koch's minions? Koch is owner of THE MONOPOLY oil pipeline distribution network in the U.S., funds the LP toadies and roadies at the Watergate Offices of LP National. He also funds CEI, Reason and others, who in turn scapegoat corn ethanol while ignoring Ethanol alternatives that could set us free from imported Oil totally. The defense business would have to downsize to one tenth of what it is now. See the Problem? Big Oil and the M.I.C. are DC's best friend.
Who keeps the LP membership in the dark by omission?
Who is bloated DC's best friend? - n0gnuz, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2'While Barr seems, in some ways, to be among the more libertarian-leaning conservatives, he is not a libertarian on the most important issue of our time – foreign policy. I have yet to hear an unambiguous commitment to immediate withdrawal from Iraq. Unlike Paul, he also has not promised to remove our troops from the other 150 countries in which they are stationed. Barr's campaign website uses the rhetoric of non-intervention, but a perusal of the articles available on that same website gives the lie to any idea that he opposes foreign intervention.'
- n0gnuz, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2I wouldn't vote for anyone who didn't promise to get our $9-trillion-in-debt country of the endless cycle of foreign wars.
- chessmasterjoe, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Dose anyone think that Ron Paul would endorse him? I don't think so. How about someone ask him? I am going to write in Ron Paul in 2008 unless he endorses someone else.
