What is perfectly obvious to you about the behavior of a "low-life" co-worker, or a jerk in-law, doesn't seem to translate to those in power. Is it the very aura of power that blinds most citizens? Or is it the laziness of "you can't fight city hall", except in this case, "city hall" has involved us in two bogus wars, abolished habeas corpus, and set in motion the legal machinery by which even this post could get me labeled as a terrorist. Who is willing to say "enough" to these psychopaths?
Herondancer - iowane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A key point for me that this article makes is here:
"The reason the idea is so difficult to accept is one of responsibility. If Osama really did it, all the average American would have to do is support and have faith in her government to take care of business; support the troops and pray the devil is brought to justice. But who becomes responsible for 'taking care' of a government that is packed with corrupt, lying, murderous psychopaths?"
I think that for many people, finding out their government is REALLY corrupt (instead of just corrupt in a way that is easy to make jokes about) is like the adult version of finding out there is no Santa Clause when you were a kid. There are few things more terrifying to most people than finding out that they are truly responsible for EVERYTHING in their lives. - Sillus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very informative, thanks for the post.
