- w3weasel, on 04/04/2009, -8/+290I'm 40 years old, I smoke pot on average, 4 times per year. I REALLY enjoy the times that I do. I'm successful, pay my taxes and help my neighbors.
I AM NOT A CRIMINAL - montpelier28, on 04/04/2009, -13/+195I'm an old lady and I smoke pot and I like it too.
- toker200, on 04/03/2009, -15/+196agreed
- uberdragon, on 04/03/2009, -13/+186Will is right. The time has come to come out of the cannabis closet! I have been advocating the use of marijuana both medicinally and recreationally for years. I encourage those I come in contact with to write their elected officials and let them know how they feel on the subject (both smokers and non smokers alike). The most common response?
"I really really want to.. but I do not want them coming to my house and arresting me for possession and being thrown in jail, my family could not handle that" and even the non smokers that agree with this change in policy, are afraid of being labeled or harassed.
Time to get over those fears my friends, they can't come and arrest us all! NOW is the time to have your voice heard! We must end prohibition, and change our approach to the so called "War on Drugs" not only for us, but for our children's futures! - inactive, on 04/04/2009, -26/+161I'm a nanotechnologist and I freebase meth. I straight up don't give a ***** bitch.
- sheeplescareme, on 04/03/2009, -5/+119too!
sorry, but that drives me batty. - AGONYTUESDAY, on 04/04/2009, -5/+105I smoke pot, and I like it.
the online community that Obama snubs is the same community that GOT HIM ELECTED. - apickle, on 04/03/2009, -41/+137Look at that stoner. Wearing a suit... like he thinks he's some kind of... of... of... REAL American. He should be thrown in jail in spite of the fact that he's a research fellow at the Cato Institute (aha! libertarian, caught red handed! it's the slammer for you, you no good pot-smoking wannabe American!) and has written for several written publications, many of which can't even be flippantly dismissed as "liberal blather."
Nonetheless. He smokes pot. He's too dangerous to keep in regular society, and he must be imprisoned. I don't care what the costs are, just put them damn stoners in the jails! </republican>
*sigh*
I hate Republicans. - Mothrog, on 04/04/2009, -4/+98...Because the Democrats have been so great about the legal status of marijuana, particularly Bill Clinton. When are you half wits going to wake up and realize that they're both two sides of the same coin?
- sheeplescareme, on 04/03/2009, -8/+99i hate collectivists who care more about politics than they do about personal freedom. that group includes both democrats and republicans.
- sheasie, on 04/04/2009, -5/+96I smoke pot too... usually it's harmless, but every now it makes me jump out of a window and kill myself.
/and by jump out of a window and kill myself, i mean jump into the kitchen and grab some cookies. - SmurfSlut, on 04/04/2009, -12/+101I got straight As in college and I smoke pot atleast once a week
- OfNumbers, on 04/04/2009, -10/+78I am 22 and I smoke pot. I've been in trouble for it. I spent time in jail with rapists, robbers, and the homeless. I still smoke because ***** the systems stance on my choice to have fun without raping people, drinking so much that I rape people and forget about it, or even paying for sex. People should be in an uproar over the damages caused through inhalants by working in or next to a gas station, factories, or even just taking a walk down a road with a lot of cars on it. That will ruin your health, even the lighter fluid when you spark a bowl might ruin your health, but Cannabis wont.
I've always argued with my friends over why they won't smoke but will smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol. It's in this disposition that I find a cingular logic toward the illegality of pot. If you have standards that preserve not only your mind, emotion and physical conditions - You are a threat to corporations around the globe, and they have something every other group doesn't: An army of dependent sheep for people who couldn't care less what explanation you offer them in any subject. If you are not one of these people, you might just start caring about how much trash you generate, how many people you can help in your lifetime, how fast food is responsible for trillions of animals deaths every year (even though we all WUV our puppies, kittens, and bunny rabbits), start asking smart questions like "Where the ***** is my scholarship?" after you've realized you're smarter than everyone else, or even "Why do I feel so alone?" This cannot be allowed to pass, and you need to shut the ***** up and go to jail for not falling in line as with any culture at any point in history. - breakaway, on 04/04/2009, -4/+69I'm hight right now
- ctiger2, on 04/03/2009, -12/+70Good for Will. Keep up the good work.
- charlietuna, on 04/04/2009, -1/+58Would be kinda dumb if you smoked it, hated it, and continued to smoke it.
- integrity, on 04/03/2009, -1/+54I smoke pot, and I like it...too!
- BedPost, on 04/04/2009, -0/+51God only knows what they were up to in there. And furthermore Susan, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find that all four of them habitually smoke marijuana cigarettes.
Reefers. - inactive, on 04/04/2009, -1/+50She was living in a single room with three other individuals. One of them was a male and the other two, well, the other two were females.
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -27/+74I smoke pot, and I like it...to!!!
- Amadeus2490, on 04/04/2009, -5/+52And in future news: Will Wilkinson has lost his job.
- kconnors, on 04/04/2009, -13/+59It's okay to dink alcohol and use tobacco. But it's a crime to use or posses marijuana. It's about time that people got their heads out of the sand. In Europe, a lot of countries stopped caring about marijuana possesion.
I am sick of marijuana prohibition. I will never support any politician who votes to upheld prohibition and I will never purchase any Kellogs products. - bipolarruledout, on 04/04/2009, -0/+45Got to stay competitive.
- daakone, on 04/04/2009, -0/+42That would make it like cigarettes.
- URnotheonly1, on 04/04/2009, -9/+50I smoke pot. I am American!
- emjaymj, on 04/04/2009, -0/+40and by jump into the kitchen and grab some cookies, you mean stay on the couch and wish you had some cookies?
- booyahbitch, on 04/04/2009, -4/+42The biggest problem for me would be employment. I do a ton of contract work and do consulting for companies who require a very in depth background check...Imagine if I were arrested for weed, or came up positive on a pre-job drug test...I would be unable to make a living. I haven't smoked pot in YEARS, but sure, I would like to, I just can't afford to lose my entire lively hood in order to enjoy a few hours of being high. Comments and Suggestions accepted! :o)
- ath1337, on 04/04/2009, -4/+40***** you. I'm a Republican and I love pot.
- squatz, on 04/04/2009, -4/+40This one's pretty funny:
http://www.filthyrichmond.com/2009/04/keep-marijua ... - normlsparky, on 04/04/2009, -1/+37And the SWAT team shot his dogs. They didn't find any weed, though.
- charlietuna, on 04/04/2009, -2/+33Get this straight, the law may be wrong, but if you break the law, well that pretty much fits the definition. You are not unethical or immoral, but you would be a scofflaw. The law needs to change, that's all.
- Sporky023, on 04/04/2009, -2/+32I smoke and enjoy pot. In my life I've also ingested:
LSD-25
psilocybin mushrooms
mescalin
crystal methamphetamine
DMT
2CE
4HO-MIPT
2CI
5-MeO-DIPT
opium
cocaine
MDMA
"crank" - I'm not even sure what this is - some preparation of crack and battery acid
ayahuasca
salvia divinorum (not illegal yet, but it's headed there)
... and a whole host of pharmaceuticals for which I did NOT have a prescription.
My name is Luke Griffiths, I am 27 years old, and I live in Allston, MA. I believe in every sentient being's right to alter its brain chemistry in whatever means it wants to. I am not on anyone else's diet, and I have complete contempt for the drug laws of this country.
I'm addicted to cigarettes. - akhomestead, on 04/04/2009, -1/+30And his house got raided.
- transitive, on 04/04/2009, -0/+29good for you man, good for you. how are the swarms of killer nano-bots coming along? any day now right?
- emjaymj, on 04/04/2009, -0/+28I DON'T smoke pot and I DON'T like it (for mental health reasons which make it unpleasant for me), but it's just bizarre and wrong that the government has the right to make you a criminal for something that isn't inherently hurtful.
- akchrs, on 04/04/2009, -4/+32"I hate Republicans."
Alaska is a Republican state. Guess where pot is legal in the privacy of your own home? So go ahead and vote for make a fool out of you and laugh at the question if pot should be legalized Obama. - boomchockalocka, on 04/04/2009, -2/+30I'm 43, successful in my career, own two houses, etc. Yesterday I got high and, with his permission of course (not help mind you) complete renovated my neighbor's hideous looking lawn. Over the course of the last 15 years, my partner and I (yeah, I'm gay too - God help me) have completely turned around our neighborhood which is now rather upscale. It was disgusting halfway houses and trash everywhere when we moved in. Our house was the worst lot and is now the model home.
Pot might be bad for some people, but it is my experience that those people stop using it. It self-regulates. It's as though the government thinks the people are too stupid to know otherwise. In 25 years of smoking weed I have never seen a single person do something stupid because of it. And far from making me think crazy thoughts, it unleashes creative side and motivates me. I do some of my best thinking and come up with some of my best ideas when I'm high.
This Puritanical Fascism has to end. It is patently absurd. - normlsparky, on 04/04/2009, -2/+29I used to smoke pot, and I liked it too. I would like to smoke again, but I have employment related drug tests to worry about. Sobriety is over rated.
- sheeplescareme, on 04/04/2009, -1/+28thank you kindly for that meaningful and completely relevant reply.
- ShoujoKakumei, on 04/04/2009, -1/+27I've noticed a lot of unemployed losers who've never touched the stuff in their life, too.
Plenty of them are posting in this comment thread. - archiesteel, on 04/04/2009, -0/+26They dropped Michael Phelps as a spokesperson when the photo of him taking a bong hit surfaced.
- Gareth321, on 04/04/2009, -0/+25Well that depends upon the legal theory you subscribe to. I tend towards natural law. The law is unjust and therefore should not be followed - it is not a law at all. Law reflects culture. As soon as marijuana becomes societally acceptable again, the law will make legal.
- TEssma, on 04/04/2009, -1/+26I'm a Republican. I smoke pot, and I like it.
Not too sure why you are turning the war against the war on pot into a Democrat/Republican argument, considering politicians from both sides have voiced their want of legalization. But if you want to play the blame game, go ahead. You'll just make yourself look like an idiot. - drunkirish, on 04/04/2009, -1/+25You like it to what?
- archiesteel, on 04/04/2009, -0/+23Some people become alcoholics, and yet no one's suggesting making alcohol illegal again...
- vinod1978, on 04/04/2009, -1/+24I've got some friends in the same boat, luckily I have my own company so I don't have to worry about it. You know what they do? Something far worse then weed - they drink like 3-4 times a week. Now I smoke weed, but I drink about 3-4 times a month max. I don't think I could function drinking 12-15 times a month at all. I have no idea how people can work properly after drinking so much. If I had a kid I would rather they smoked rather then drink their liver into oblivion.
- lexpattison, on 04/04/2009, -4/+27I smoked pot every once in a while until I had kids, and I will smoke it again once I'm not responsible for their well-being on a 24/7 basis - I sure hope when my son is old enough to make the choice, safe/legal/consistent ways exist for him to enjoy pot - maybe even use some portable volcano device so he doesn't have to breath in the smoke. As a father, I hope he chooses to enjoy vices moderately like most reasonable people.
- inactive, on 04/04/2009, -0/+22sleep is for pussies, eh MC?
- DrDetox, on 04/04/2009, -4/+25Will is completely right in this. Ladies and gentlemen do not be scared to say that you smoke pot. Your neighbors are not scared to offer you an alcoholic beverage which is known to be an actual dangerous drug that can be highly addictive. Your colleagues are not afraid to offer you a cigarette when you are stressed out which is known to cause cancer. And if you are so against smoking make brownies or vaporize an even cleaner way to smoke. Lets go guys we are not in the age of "reefer madness" Pass that dutchy to the left hand side. The doctor has spoken.
- Fallooza, on 04/04/2009, -0/+21I smoke pot, and I like it...to smoke!!!
