The Fed can use their "elastic" money supply to fund our agressive foreign policy and entitlements without taxing the public to death. Americans never think of inflation as a tax but that is exactly what it is. A hidden and regressive tax at that.
If the US ever does rid itself of this monster central bank, we should replace it with nothing. Let markets set the interest rates and repeal legal tender laws. Much of the current crisis was caused by people placing too much faith in the government agencies to ensure their investments and deposits were safe. If due dilligence was required on the part of the investor, instead of blindly trusting a government regulator who didn't even notice that Madoff didn't make a trade for 13 years, most of these investments would not have been made in the first place. - bonmot5, on 07/09/2009, -0/+4Is the Federal Reserve a 'government agency?' I was under the impression that it is privately owned. Also, why is the Federal Reserve even legal? Doesn't the Federal Reserve violate Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution, and if it doesn't, how did they get around that? They have made the Constitution 'negligible.' It seems to me (in my little mind) that if all three branches of the Federal Government just read the Constitution, and The Bill Of Rights (just to remind them all exactly what their particular jobs are) and then started to do their jobs, according to the Constitution and The Bill Of Rights, then things could start to improve. Congress has not been doing what it's supposed to do. If war with Iraq was declared, Congress should have declared it. The executive branch has taken too much power. There is absolutely NO PROVISION in the Constitution for executive orders. NONE! An executive order is only a proclamation, if the president was a King he could make a proclamation, but he's not a King! Bills should be one issue, they should not be able to throw all kinds of other stuff into them right before they are voted on, nor so lengthy that they are impossible to read before a vote, why would anybody vote for or against something that they never even read? That seems stupid to me. Also there should be some way to elect a President that is not backed by elitists and powerful lobbies. Personally, I think the citizens of this country are idiots for putting up with this *****.

Listen, I'm a Christian, and if a Christian reads the Constitution, The Declaration of Independence and The Bill Of Rights, he will see that it is not the Christian's right to stop gay marriage, because The Declaration says clearly, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. -That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, =That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. According to the Constitution, The Bill Of Rights and The Declaration of Independence,I believe it is clear that gay marriage should be voted on by each individual State and be legal in the States that vote to make it legal.
