Great phone number!!!!! Fast Ship!!!!! Will call again!!!!! A++++!!!+!!+!!+!!+ - trghpy, on 10/12/2007, -16/+160@myself - got interupted before i could send the edit
If all the kids who ruined digg the other day over the HD key calls Pelosi...
Yea, that could be interesting... - trghpy, on 10/12/2007, -12/+119@davev
I think Pelosi would get the point if all the digg users called the switchboard.
If digg users lock up the capitals switchboard for a day, it'd be a pretty good sign of us showing our response. - l2digg, on 10/12/2007, -5/+98From the source site:
It’s not an “official” phone poll. It seems that some people randomly started this up on the democratic underground forums and others. It is Speaker Pelosi’s number though. It’s an interesting idea, but no, she’s not really doing the whole phone poll thing.
(Which only makes this better) - Philodox, on 10/12/2007, -8/+99It's awfully convenient that the number 3 official in the U.S. wants your opinion on getting rid of the first two :P
Seriously though, the Bush administration is so corrupt that I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner. The current administration is so corrupt that I think it's shows a real failing in the American political system that nobody has been held accountable so far. - Reclinatron, on 10/12/2007, -13/+99I called, the number does go to Pelosi's office. A woman answered, I said that "I would like to register my support for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney." She said that she would pass this on. If you want Bush and Cheney out of office, you need to take action and show your support.
You have nothing to lose by making the phone call. If you choose not to, you are silencing yourself and allowing this corruption to continue. - EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -13/+96I can't get through to the number right now.
If anyone wants, here's a letter I just wrote my own Congressman in NY. Feel free to use it, edit, etc..:
Dear Congressman,
I am writing to express my sincere concern over the refusal of Democrats to adequately deal with the lies and crimes of the White House these past six years. I know that investigations are on-going. But the notion that senior Democratic leadership thinks impeachment is a “waste of time” is, in my mind, a sign of tacit complicity in those crimes.
The constitution has been subverted. High crimes have been committed (not the least of which is 18 USC 371). And right now, Congress is still chasing its tail and making political hay out of minor scandals which may or may not pan out. Enough is enough. Stop skirting the issues.
I want key records confiscated and kept under guard, email servers, documents; subpoenas ordered (by armed guard if necessary), and testimony given under oath. And if these crimes can be proved, then do it. Do not wait.
The danger in waiting is that it will never be properly accounted. We like to keep a nice image of our past Presidents, even the criminal ones, and even a new Democratic President will want to avoid the appearance of “dredging up the past.”
More than that, Cheney and Bush will still have 18 months to pull more of the same crap. We may see the Iraq occupation “spill over” into Iran. We may see more “oops” dropped balls on terrorism, more deaths, and new claims from the WH that, “see, that’s why you need us” or “that’s what happens when you elect Democrats.” They could easily swing the election their way with additional crimes. The risk is simply too great to leave them in power for long.
And the world is watching. American honor and integrity is on the line. The world knows what they’ve done. Even _we_ know what we’ve done. The only people who appear, at least superficially, not to know are the Congress. And that has to change.
I’ve seen you in action, Congressman. I know you know what to do and how to do it. You’re a fighter. But it’s time the rhetoric met the reality.
If we reach ‘08 and there is no serious (read: sponsored by _you_) attempt at impeachment and removal, then despite whatever admiration I have for your work, I will in the end hold you responsible for the tacit complicity in _their_ crimes and vote you out.
There is no avoiding what has happened. The breach is too great. Three thousand Americans, 600,000 Iraqis, and a trillion dollars doesn’t just “go away” with no repercussions to those in power. Not anymore. The time to act is now. I urge you to do so.
Sincerely, - gooddaysunshine, on 10/12/2007, -18/+95If this is how it needs to be done than so be it. i urge all of humanity to make this phone call.
- rimpy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+84From what research I've done it appears to be a number to the correct office. Check out this page:
http://www.senate.gov/galleries/photo/Hsldr.htm
It's from the senate's site, but I think it's correct. I think I'll call it anyway; can't do any harm. - ophilye, on 10/12/2007, -8/+76Well... If there wasn't a poll before, you can be damned sure there is one now....
- ophilye, on 10/12/2007, -16/+83@unusualbob:
hmmm.. call the number, then say "I do not support the impeachment of Bush & Cheney because I have no clue what is going on in the world and am afraid of change"
That should do it. - meltingrobot, on 10/12/2007, -17/+81@davidbgie
I didn't elect him personally. And what job did you elect him to do? All I have seen him do is drop the US into massive debt for an illegal war that was not needed. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+67HERE IS THE PLAN OF ATTACK DEMOCRATS
1. impeach bush AND cheney
2. secure paper ballots
3. vote out the rest of these creeps
4. restore iraq

Oh, dear ignorant citizen of the United States. Are you familiar with the system checks and balances? The congress has every right and responsibility to consider impeachment. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -17/+66Why not digg up this issue with the effort we put in to the 'code'. I think this would do a bit more good in the world.
Everyone call her up. - crestfall, on 10/12/2007, -7/+56(Two rings, no hold)

She gave my boss a nasty attitude, too... IMPEACH THE PERSON WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE - Buddhaismybuddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+45I just called, I got the secratary, she said it was nancy pelosi's office but there was no poll. so I told that i thought that bush and cheney should be impeached, and she said she would relay the message to Secratary Pelosi.
So they are not doing a poll, BUT THAT DOSENT MEAN WE CANT!
everyone keep calling, they cant ignore thousands of phone calls.
whoever thought of this is a genius - Sakichan, on 10/12/2007, -14/+59Call it. Make what difference you can.
- betterth, on 10/12/2007, -8/+53Right, because calling the office of an elected official and giving your opinion of issues they deal with means you lose your dignity.
What's next, it's undignified to vote? - shootdashit, on 10/12/2007, -12/+56it does work. i feel so much better now. seriously.
- meltingrobot, on 10/12/2007, -5/+49Can I use that number to complain about the rights lost by the Patriot Act as well?

http://speaker.gov/contact/ - EndersGame, on 10/12/2007, -2/+40Digg users care more about censorship on some half-assed news site than they do about all the liberties that have been put in jeapordy by the President and Vice President. This story should have 20k diggs by now people. This is pathetic.
I get the feeling that most of you are kids or just a bunch of lazy pussies, sure you will digg ten stories in a row and post a number 30 times but you don't have the balls to put any of your contact information in the same posts and you also don't have the balls to call up this number or write to your congressman.

"..." - wobblebottom, on 10/12/2007, -5/+34I called before i looked at the comments, some lady answered, and sounded slightly frustrated. There is no poll, but suggestions and opinions are welcome. Those were her words not mine. Feel free to call i suppose.
- TheNeoskeptic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30that's a retarded thing to say.
they were surveilling us all already! - LuciferChaos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30I just called - approximately 2:30PM central time, number was busy the first couple times I tried - and the lady said something like they weren't taking calls about impeachment and that "the email was wrong", but she would register my issue. I never said I got the number from an email, I said something to the effect of that I was informed that this was the phone number to call for Nancy Pelosi regarding the impeachment of Bush and Cheney and I wanted to voice my support for their impeachment. And she just said thank you and hung up quickly. Sounded to me like they were tired of getting calls on this issue. I think ALL of the Congress needs to get calls like this...
- LesterKing, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32Yeah, I don't trust any of those people anymore.
- flernk, on 10/12/2007, -10/+37"Diggsters have very little power other than to digg comments and whine, cry, and bitch about the state of affairs in their general vicinity"
You, sir, have a remedial understanding of American politics. Let's forget about the fact that we live in a country where we're allowed to "whine, cry, and bitch," our political process actually allows us to turn our complaints into real change. I have extremely accute sense of political efficacy. How about you? - wheresjim, on 10/12/2007, -5/+31I used to answer these phones for a living (in a Senator's office) what will happen when you call is a tickmark will be made on a piece of paper, at the end of the day the tickmarks will be tallied, and sometime in the next month a report of constituent contacts will be generated, in which a line (or slice in a pie chart) will enumerate your calls to the Speaker's office in support of impeachment. Whether she chooses to pay attention is up to her, but I wouldn't hold my breath on this having any effect, other than slamming the switchboard.
- marxfriedrice, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27While we're all at it here is a list of numbers for your local congressmen and senators, why not give your state rep a call as well?

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x790622 - Dustin00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22If we only do this one day, it will go down as a prank.
So... are we prepared to make this call daily until they take action?
Should we add others to the list? Perhaps:
House Republican Leader John Boehner (202) 225-4000 - UncleBadTouch, on 10/12/2007, -11/+33If you support this initiative, then call and pass it on. If not, please do a little more research. :)
- jeremiahf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22So we've wearied, exasperated, and generally pissed off Nancy Pelosi's office. Good!
Maybe they think it's a stupid Internet prank that's a waste of their time. Maybe they're wishing we'd stay off the phone lines so they could get other business done. Fantastic!
Finally We the People are exercising some power. We're interrupting politics as usual with a demand for some accountability. Don't let it stop here.
John Conyers of Michigan is the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, where an impeachment resolution must go. The number to his Washington, D. C. office is (202) 225-5126.
Louise McIntosh Slaughter of New York is the chairwoman of the House Rules Committee, where a resolution to investigate for impeachable offenses would go. The number to her Washington, D. C. office is (202) 225-3615.
Imagine if all three congressional leaders had their offices swamped in the same couple days with calls for impeachment. Pelosi's office alone might pass it off as a tiring day, another example of the Internets running amuck. But if the calls are targeted and persistent enough that they disrupt day-to-day business, they cannot be ignored. Let's use the "digg effect" for something more than bringing lonely little blogs to their knees.
(If you are from Michigan or New York, your call will count that much more to these people. Get on it!) - Surfrock66, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25"Hi, are you taking a poll on the impeachment issue?"
"No, it is some internet prank, we've been recieving a lot of calls on it."
"Ok, well, I support it anyway, have a nice day." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -21/+41If diggers complain about this en masse, it would be no different than when the "Parents Television Council" floods television broadcasters with complaints about bad language and violence (while everyone else does not).
A better tactic would be to convince OTHERS to support impeachment, rather than just showing them the wildly biased opinions of the users of this one web site. Oh, and spreading this link to other far-left liberal blogs won't accomplish this, either.
In short: Do not preach to the choir, and do not try to pretend that the choir speaks for everyone else. - audj, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24This is awesome. I have never felt so good about making a phone call.
- reed311, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25Yeah, just like all those protests and petitions didn't do anything for Don Imus losing his job.
- crypt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Is this just for US people, or can the rest of the world call too?
- ScionAltera, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20If Dick Cheney is removed from office first, the 25th Amendment says Bush can choose a new Vice President, but congress needs to approve the appointee. If Bush is impeached first, Cheney becomes president and gets to choose a Vice President under the 25th Amendment, with congress' approval.
Either way, I don't think there's any way we'll have Nancy Pelosi as president. - cywar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22I called a few days ago. Some flunky answered the phone and said she would "pass it on" That was it. It is really a painless way to annoy the Establishment. I recommend it.
