- Turpoid, on 10/11/2007, -7/+37"Clearly, language threatening to wipe a nation or a group of people off the map is to be condemned by all civilized people. And I do condemn any such language. But why does threatening Iran with a pre-emptive nuclear strike, as many here have done, not also deserve the same kind of condemnation? Does anyone believe that dropping nuclear weapons on Iran will not wipe a people off the map? When it is said that nothing, including a nuclear strike, is off the table on Iran, are those who say it not also threatening genocide? And we wonder why the rest of the world accuses us of behaving hypocritically, of telling the rest of the world “do as we say, not as we do.”
I love this man's mind. I think the connection he has with the American people comes from the fact that he feels the same way we do, and we see him as being someone like-minded who's also in a position to do something about all of this, which is what a lot of us want...change. He wants to abolish the federal reserve his first week in office, the IRS the second week, the CIA the third week, and the DHS and Dept of Ed after that! I can already feel the load on my wallet and my mind lifting as i think of this. Please do all that you can to help get this man into power. He's done his homework, he knows politics, he's been on the foreign relations committee and the banking committee. Forget about the whole "this is what the constitution says we should do" part....at least from the stand point of some old document that very few have read. Look at this as someone who has the ideas and morals to help everyone get a fair shake in life. Yes, the constitution states everything he does, and it WOULD be responsible for the betterment of us all if exercised, which is what makes the constitution even MORE important today than it was then.
There have been times when, to be patriotic, was to take hold of a gun and shoot someone to defend your country, and damn it, it may come to that again.....but let's try and do it by voting for the man protecting the very foundations this country was based on in a diplomatic, thoughtful way. This is the most important challenge of this century....fixing the lobbying and corporate elitist fascism created in the PAST century. I don't want to work two jobs just to break even, i don't want all my money to be debt-based "promissory notes", I want affordable healthcare and education for me and my kids. This is paramount to fixing this country. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -13/+42the people that bury this article are the equivalent of warmongerers. This is not a SPAM article.
This is a message from a US congressman warning of the movement to explode nuclear bombs on innocent people. Sure they are brown colored non-christians, but based on my highschool AP phsyiology classes, I am pretty sure they are humans. Please for the mercy of humanity please do not bury this article! - Marty1h, on 10/11/2007, -38/+65Ron Paul, the only candidate to understand and quote the great U.S. Constitution. Rule of law, not rule of man: The opposite of what we have now. Mexico has rule of man and we don't want that. I love America. I do not love any other country, including Israel. www.house.gov/paul
- dodus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18Do you seriously have to "expand full tree" every ***** time?
- AbleDangerMouse, on 10/11/2007, -9/+24You all know it. It's like since 911 everything has plunged into the twilight zone. Did everyone go crazy? Dr. Paul is the only politician to cut through this nationalistic brand of ignorance (John Edwards comes close when calling the War On Terror a bumper sticker). Man it just feels good to hear someone make sense, it's not difficult, but it the waters have been muddied. It all comes down to the golden rule. Treat people like you want to be treated. Do you want to be invaded? Do you like Sovereignty? When the golden rule is violated, unintended consequences occur. It is crazy to think that you can stir up a hornet's nest & not expect them to give chase. This neo-con notion of "American Exceptionalism" is what fogs people's otherwise intelligent minds. I do believe that America is exceptional, but only because it is the one place in the world that most values the individual over the group. To put it another way, historically America has been exceptional, but only because it of it's insistence that one particular group is not "exceptional" relative to another. Not because we feel entitled to other sovereign nation's resources, so by god we are going to get them. The neo-con version is patently un-American, arrogant, & more importantly it jeopardizes national security in the long run.
- WaterDragon, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18If I remember correctly, the UN was still doing inspections for WMDs in Iraq (and not finding any) when the rogue criminal Bush, who had recently and illegally seized control of the US government and the US military, decided unilaterally to start the war...and told the UN to pull out all UN troops.
I'm not saying the UN is so wonderful -- but get your facts straight. - fuzzmeister, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15The US started the war by blowing previous UN resolutions out of proportion as justification, and did not wait for the UN to approve the action.
- poutine, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Nevermind 2003, have we forgotten the truth already? Iran's president never said that "Isreal should be wiped off the map.". The Iranian government has denied this and the original comment was poorly translated from farsi. He had quoted a speech that called for the end of the Israeli regime. This is NOT inciting genocide. Heck, I wish the current American regime would vanish from the pages of history too, doesn't mean I want any of you Americans dead.
See the past Digg story here for more on this (1773 diggs):
http://digg.com/politics/Wiped_off_the_Map_The_Rumor_of_the_Century_2 - masamunecyrus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Ignoring all the language and all the signs, why do we say that "nothing is off the table" regarding pre-emptive nuclear strike when we're angry at Iran for trying to obtain nuclear weapons? What kind of message does it send when we threaten a nation working to get nuclear weapons not to get them, or else we'll use our nuclear weapons against them?
- Dumbledorito, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13Yes, because Saddam attacked... Uh... in 2003, he... um...
Oh, and just because you seem to keep score, the UN didn't say boo about stopping the first gulf war, it was our generals who Bush I actually LISTENED to, telling him that if we took out Saddam we'd get chaos and instability on a level akin to... right now. Please study up before you type again. Do it for the children. - juicebag, on 10/11/2007, -13/+23I see people are beginning to stealthily post Ron Paul stories.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Don't worry, everyone in Congress will send their kids to the next war too.
Oh wait! They didn't send them to the previous one. Silly me. - gmason08, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Yeah, pretty sneaky of those guys trying to get stuff past the gatekeepers, er, status quo protectors, er, thought police, er, censors, er, antiSpam heros, er, Champions of all that is Digg Holy and brave tireless filters of thoughts that we know are bad bad; yeah that last one is all we are doing and it is for your own good too.
Sheesh the nerve of those RP dudes, sneaking primary source information about a non-anointed candidate on Digg. What do they think they are doing by submitting INFORMATION, informing people. I have heard a lot of things but never anything as absurd as allowing individuals to judge the value of something for themselves!! My god, how far we have sunk. - fuzzmeister, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11For once, I am not burying a Ron Paul article. Usually, they are just information about his campaign, which I, and most other Digg-ers, could care less about. This, however, is a well-written piece by the man himself about current issues, and is very relevant. I don't agree with most of his views, but I certainly agree with him here.
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9yeah, i don't like it either. freaking annoying. would be a good time for any sites out there nipping on digg's heels. this is just .................... aggravating.
- roflcawpter, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Apparently being anti-Zionist is also the same as being anti-semitic.
WRONG! Zionism is no better than Jihad. Zionism is a horrific form of terrorism that supports the genocide of Arabs in that particular part of the Mid East. - strifeprime, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8What's it called when our leaders terrorize other nations with threats and violence? Is that not terrorism?
- M4tt3r, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Everyone forgets (case in point), a majority of this country has a 1 week memory. They go from week to week, forgetting what just took place last week. Thus allowing the same ***** to happen over and over again. It is similar to a real life version of Memento.
I remember ***** that happened years ago, but when talking to friends, they look at me "like I'm making ***** up".....it's frustrating. It must be something in the food. - evil-doer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8your government loves you and people like you.
- kaffiene, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Saddam was a bad person. That doesn't make the US actions legal. Especially when the US is responsible for Saddam's rise to power in the first place.
- InetRoadkill, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Stopping this war before it starts may be an effort in futility. There are signs that a 3rd carrier group is steaming for the Persian Gulf already with a 4th carrier to be added later. It seems that Cheney is absolutely determined to get his war on in Iran.
http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=4334 - kaffiene, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Just a point of clarification - the UN did NOT order the US into Iraq. The UN ordered that the UN Security Council should decide whether Iraq was in breach of resolution 1441 and that they should decide how to proceed. The US refused to proceed in accordance with the UNSC, who wanted to give weapons inspectors more time. The US ignored the UNSC, ignored the UN resolution and waged a war of aggression on it's own.
I don't dispute that Saddam was a very bad person (in part, thanks to US support) but blaming the UN for the fact that Bush ignored them and went it alone is the height of sophistry. - jabbulonius, on 10/11/2007, -14/+21please register as a republican for the primaries. I am a liberal who supports the only sensible peace candidiate Ron Paul.
- roflcawpter, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10Israel is NOT part of the United States of America. If Israel wants to avoid a genocide, they should think about diplomatically solving their problems with Iran.
All it was was a badly mis-translated piece of speech that is being used to justify their isolatinist attitude toward Iran.
If you want to prevent a genocide, atleast start in Sudan where hundreds of thousands are dying and millions of others are starving/being hunted by militias/raped/suffering from aids/dying from common infections and diseases and living in what is pretty much the most dangerous part of the world. - Squarsh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6With this administration, no ... no more wars. They are bona-fide fukupz.
- swordedge, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9The UN can go to war against IRAN all it wants. So long as WE don't go. Besides, we've got time. Word is that the Iranians are years from that nuke. If Israel isn't too busy with the Palestinians, they will level the reactor for their own protection.
- evil-doer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6i cant dig you up enough. well put gabeh
- emiles, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6What's wrong with loving another country? I mean, I love England and Scotland...and America, and many others. There are many countries around the world with freedom loving people.
- uwjames, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Rivals used to accuse football coach Bobby Bowden of running up the score. He used to quip something to the tune of "It's the other coach's job to stop my offense, not mine."
Right now Ron Paul is the Bobby Bowden of politics. He has a message that resonates with a huge swath of America, and his job, and the job of his supporters is to get that message out. Refuting that message is somebody else's job, but nobody has done that. The best they can do is say, "stop talking about him". But we will not do that. We will not censor ourselves. We will continue to post statements from the *only* candidate who understands and champions the constitution.
Open your eyes and see the precarious state which both parties have put our country in. Then realize that the only candidate who can lead us to stability, prosperity, and respectability is the one who has been right *all along*. Then, join the movement to awaken America, to revive this experiment in democracy.
Ron Paul 2008 - knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5International Military Tribunal at Nuremburg declared that not only is a war of aggression (preemptive war) a crime, but a supreme crime, meaning that crime will be considered most egregious. Article 2 of the UN Charter states, "All Members shall settle their international disputes by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace and security, and justice, are not endangered."
Article VI of the United States Constitution states "This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding."
The United Nations Charter has been ratified by the United States, thereby making it binding as US domestic law.
Ron Paul, as every red blooded US citizen should, follows the letter of the law of the Constitution of the United States of America.
There is Ron Paul's logic, sir. - knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5perhaps a quote from President Kennedy will wisen you up a bit, wiseass:
The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God. - emiles, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Just because Democrats have lied before, doesn't mean that the Bush administration didn't lie about WMD's. Your point is illogical.
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5So then, let's impeach every single one of them.
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4thank God, someone with a brain showed up.
classy, squarsh, i dugg you. - aebcoat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5If you look at some of Paul's youtube clips he is not for totally abolishing the CIA, He believes intelligence is necessary, but feels like the CIA is to large and does un-needed things.
About Libertarian making things cheaper... Basically I think the idea is that government run/managed operations are a model of inefficiency. The idea is the private sector can do a better job and be more efficient then the government. So having privately or public/non-government programs would be a better idea.
For anyone looking for more info check these 2 clips out. First deals with a overview of his ideals, some of the education is addressed at the end. Second is a good clip talking about his feelings of the CIA and other government programs

- tybris, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4If only there was such a thing as journalism. (not being sarcastic here)
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5intelligence is one thing, what they've been doing is something else.
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Marty doesn't mean anything bad, i'm sure.... this is a very painful time (for all of humanity)
i've heard of a lot of people wanting to leave the US because of the growing fascism - but then not wanting to leave, because it's their home.
and by God, if they would defend and demand their Constitution.... - dodus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5That's what he's saying (Paul).
- ShadyTree, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8Anyone that doesn't know that Iraq/Iran wars are about one thing: STEALING THEIR OIL, is a moron. It's all about oil. Wow, are Americans really stupid. LOLOL Americans LOLOLOL
- UsernameTaken, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4If you remembered 2003 you would have to agree that the US government tried as hard as it could to justify the war based on Iraq's violation of UN resolutions. I remember that argument parroted on rotation by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell, Rice, et. al. And that's what they're trying to do now with Iran. Using UN resolutions as pretext. The article is 100% accurate.
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3now digg is going to play mommy and daddy?
there's a "hide profanity" button. - dodus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3After reading you post this for the thirtieth time...blocked.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The legislation that was approved by congress that authorized regime change in Iraq was passed in 1998. The idea that our government was going to over throw Saddam came before 2003. Clinton and that congress approved the regime change. To think that the battle for our freedoms hinges on a right or left candidate is a distraction. All of our leaders are globalist, all of them do not give a ***** about you.
The America that people think we live in, never existed, America's republic was sold out a long time ago. So take your republican and democrat globalist and end the world. I'm tired of giving a *****, no one else does.
We are putting illegal immigrants into our military to serve, people that are on welfare are made to work, inmates in all places around America are becoming the new labor market. Free, cheap, slave labor. America is back to where it started. Dumb as a baby. - knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Screw impeachment - these neocons need to be tried for treason.
- UsernameTaken, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I remember Hussein getting support from the US to fight against Iran. I remember the gassing of the Kurds... with chemical weapons provided by Rumsfeld et. al. I remember the US government supporting Bin Laden during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. I remember Clinton sending one of the largest shipments of military equipment to Israel so they could kill more Palestinians... Stop deluding yourself. American foreign policy is no better than Iraq's foreign policy under Saddam. The US lost the moral higher ground a loooong time ago.
- Thing2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Pretty far unfortunately just think about the fact that Ron Paul himself is considered an extremist candidate. Being the norm. right now is trying to pander to one side or another with said sides beliefs in an attempt to get elected by what the silly masses believe to be true. Instead of trying to instruct said masses and help us move past all the rhetoric and incorrect viewpoints in society today. It's just...really sad honestly. Americans don't want to think - they want the news to think for them.
- dodus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Do...You...Realize (aaahhh) that everyone, you know, someday, will die.
- charmides, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I love this guy Does anyone believe we can actually get him into office? I desperately want a president in office that isnt just the popular face like mccain or hillary or obama. and the internet won't fully affect anyone's the country's vote until 2012 from what I see so far. opinions?
