- kakeam, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14Good to know we have men like Hastert looking out for America's kids.
- heavensblade23, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Dastardly, but irrelevent. Does Reynolds being guilty somehow make Foley not guilty?
- gcnaddict, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Inaccurate: http://www.house.gov/hastert/press/date.shtml under august

I mean, I hate the guy, but this is slander. Poor job on the part of the guy reading his site. - Synthaetica, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8ah....the age-old magical disappearing link, trick. i guess he thinks it's better to convey the message that he doesn't give a rat's ass about the safety of kids online, than to acknowledge that there was at least one screwup under his control charged with the duty of ensuring that safety.
deny, deny, deny. is this the only game these people know? my goodness, this is getting old. - vudicarus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8The Right can't stand the smell of their own stench. They look around, see ABC or the Dems, and say "Whoever smelt it, dealt it"
- evensong, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Right. It's not that the links were removed. The main page was updated with three new stories that pushed them out. Intentional or not, the links were never "yanked"
- ucbrave92, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3also, if you watch dateline: to catch a predator, and he was trying to rendezvous with this kid, why wasn't he arrested on the spot?
- cannibaljp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3can i just ask why people are so quick to try to deflect blame on this? it should not - to me, it does not - matter what political party these people are assiciated with.
left wing - right wing - centrist...
these actions are repugnant. - ucbrave92, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i am just saying, if they knew about this for this long and it is common knowledge that people in these types of positions are more likely to be pedophiles, what else are they covering up? this has to be just about the most corrupt i think our government has ever been.
- ucbrave92, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3is it just me or does anyone else think if we knew the truth it would turn out that ALOT of these politician/elitist ***** are really sick pedophiles?
- zeiben, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Don't know why people are digging you down, dude.
Some Democrat made an irrelevant, fallacious post just eight months ago and people seem to have stopped digging his comment down. What an unfair world... - garyh84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Although you are right that he did get a pardon, it wasn't a full pardon. He spent 48 months in prison then another 48 in a half-way house.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I still say we need to send the responsible Congress members to prison...where THEY can feel what it's like to be buggered like page boys.
- jamessavik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3DUH...
Politicians have been grandstanding on child safty for decades. They refuse to pass hate crime or anti-bullying laws but they will pass laws adding more and more jail time to everything imaginable.
Let's see how they like living by their own rules. - igotdugout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To hell with the it, if anything they should protect kids from all the TV with embedded sex generally accompanied in the more popular shows/network.
- piznut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its not the truth, but it is truthy. Your facts are partially correct. Im not going to say that Mel Reynolds isnt a piece of ***** but get your story straight. He wasn't pardoned. He served nearly 2/3rds of his sentence in prison and then had his sentence commuted where he served the remainder in a halfway house.
He has been effectively blackballed from participating in politics or any sensitive job ever again.
You are either trying to draw a parallel or muddy the argument with irrelevant history. We aren't talking about any past president or congressman. We are talking about what looks like a possible cover-up by SITTING OFFICIALS of a pedophiles actions for political gain. - Kappa3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2why else would someone pursue a career in politics other than to satisfy some sick fetish for toddlers
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4"Dastardly, but irrelevent. Does Reynolds being guilty somehow make Foley not guilty?"
No... it's just that you partisan bastards should be honest. It was just as bad when Reynolds did it as when Foley did it. BOTH parties *****-blocked (pun intended) for their own.
So, if you can bash one party and think that yours is so much cleaner and better, you're ***** delusional.
As for my feelings on the subject...see my comment above. - mikeinthemoment, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Someone on slashdot made a comment about how Sumkins(sp?) gave Foley access(interpret that as you will) to the pages even after the first signs of problems revealed themselves back in 2003. So there's your Republican tri-fecta; Foley, Hastert, Sumkins.
Why haven't we heard anything about Demmies in the news? No one's going to convince me that Dems are entirely innocent of all wrong-doing. I'm not so ready to agree that the Dems own the media or what have you though because the media did cover Clinton's sex life pretty thoroughly, but it DOES seem odd that corruption on the Dem side seems to not have penetrated the news as pervasively as kiddie-humping republican politicians. - Arkonnan, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2times 3.12.83 reporting bb dayorder doubleplusungood refs unpersons rewrite fullwise upsub antefiling.
- nixfu, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Sure dig me down bitches....can't handle the truth huh?
- nixfu, on 10/12/2007, -12/+7Here's an interesting bit of transcript. This bit involved the Congressman having an explicit IM conversation with a 16 year old with whom he had sexual relations. "M" is the Congressman. "B" is the minor.
M: What you gonna wear?
B: Well, my peach underwear, like you told me to. I was hoping that we could do something really special but I see that's not gonna happen, I guess.
M: I was definitely gonna stick MY DICK in you.
B: Really?
M: Right in my office. I was gonna MASTERBATE too.
B: Really?
M: I was looking forward to it.
B: Yeah, I been thinking about a lot times we had together. We had some really good times.
M: Uh-huh, that summer when I used to ***** YOU out south in that Riverdale apartment?
...
Of course THAT WAS Mel Reynolds(D), NOT Mark Foley(R).
And Mel Reynolds(D) got a presidential pardon from Bill Clinton.
