- JenniferInMO, on 01/12/2009, -4/+26This is important stuff. This is for change.org NOT change.gov (the official Obama site), but Obama will receive the list of the top 10. So make your voice heard, pass it along. We can't complain that our government acts against our wishes unless we first make our wishes known.
- Anomaly100, on 01/12/2009, -2/+19"Change.org's top 10 Ideas for Change" makes us feel like we can actually be heard by our new President. Past presidents have been unreachable, unobtainable, untouchable and we felt unheard. But, not now. It seem like we have someone that wants to listen to us. Now that's a great change.
And domestic spying is really a good choice. - wishninja, on 01/13/2009, -3/+10And don't forget to legalize weed too!
- jon23, on 01/12/2009, -2/+9Great post, alapoet -- thanks much!
- shinythings, on 01/16/2009, -1/+7USA Patriot was one of the biggest shams in American history.
- badqat, on 01/13/2009, -2/+6You honestly think Obama didn't hear your voices when he voted for FISA? Really?
- frohicke, on 01/13/2009, -0/+4Change.org's Ideas for Change is a great idea as is "Get FISA Right ...." Maybe Obama felt that he could not vote against the FISA Amendments during the election, as the right may have used this to attack him on national security. I disagree with this choice, whatever the reason. But considering Obama's background in constitutional law he might be willing to consider revisions to both FISA and the PATRIOT Act now. People who value the Constitution, civil liberties and individual rights need to keep up the pressure.
- JoeParanoid, on 02/10/2009, -0/+4I miss yellowcakewalk, too.
- CharlotteCorday, on 01/13/2009, -0/+3I hate people who don't count 4,200 dead troops and multiple-thousands wounded as AMERICANS. And when I say say hate, in this instance, I mean it, pal.
Bush has killed more Americans than 9-11. Bush is a destroyer, a monster. Anyone who makes the claim you've made here is the same. Bush is the very opposite of a protector.
Stop believing what you hear without giving it a thought. Stop. Stop. Stop. - inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3Agreed.
- eurekaspringsar, on 01/13/2009, -0/+3I'm going to buy you little silver shovel someday...)
- charlie6969, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2Well, I suppose the government COULD spy on me, my internet use, tap my phone, etc.
But, it would be pretty boring. lol - inactive, on 01/16/2009, -0/+2Obama voted IN FAVOR of domestic spying. Check his vote on FISA and on the PATRIOT act.
- humanerror, on 02/10/2009, -1/+3Brilliant.
"This is important stuff! Obama will receive the list of the top 10 submissions on this website! We're making a difference!"
Nobody is able to produce such amazing facepalm moments with so much consistency.
It's so sad that here on digg, honest, brave, and intelligent users yellowcakewalk get banned and we're left and we're left with dishonest, toadying cowards like JenniferInMO.
Keep on contributing your useless posts, lady. Everyone loves them.
You'll never be a threat to anyone, and so your inane platitudes will always be welcomed by the powerful and those who feel safer under their wing.
Maybe one day you can even get on TV and get paid to nod your head along with the other "panel members" while someone more important delivers the official party line for public consumption.
But hey, if not, don't worry. There are plenty more exactly like you who can fill the role. - inactive, on 01/16/2009, -3/+5Obama voted for FISA, PATRIOT act, telecom immunity. He voted to fund Bush's war crimes. He championed the Wall Street Bailout Ripoff. He supports the death penalty. He supports the Israelis genocidal slaughter in Gaza. He promises to dig us deeper into the occupation of Afghanistan. The list goes on and on.
Martin Luther King Jr. would kick the crap out of this lackey.
He listened to you last time, didn't he:
http://digg.com/political_opinion/An_Open_Letter_T ... - eurekaspringsar, on 01/13/2009, -2/+4Either you are in a rush or you don't understand the details. Obama voted to weaken FISA... after his primary promise not to do so. In short, FISA insured the court would continue to supervise/approve warrants of any American spying on American citizens. Obama voted with the worst wing-nuts to both weaken FISA and immunize those who broke the law by ignoring it. Our amendments don't mean much if we keep letting them weaken them one at a time. I want my 4th as much as my 1st and 2nd etc.
- kyledeb, on 01/13/2009, -1/+3Good luck on getting this in the top 10, Steve! I'm hoping folks vote for the DREAM Act idea on change.org:
http://www.change.org/ideas/view/pass_the_dream_ac ...
Unauthorized migrant youth have a lot of obstacles in the way of their speaking up and standing up for themselves. Having them in the top 10 of this change.org contest could really make a difference for them.
If you're a fan of civil liberties, how horrible is it that the federal government can deport people who speak out?
http://www.citizenorange.com/orange/2007/10/deport ... - CharlotteCorday, on 01/13/2009, -0/+1Note poprocksand's comment and Me048's, watch for others like those, and let no more of this stuff slide! We will NOT exchange liberty for security. Besides...it doesn't give us security, ya nits! You're bein' had! Don't be a damned fool PLEEZ.
(Reiterating...)
The more it goes, the fonder the right is becoming of Barack Obama. It's that old adage again, "The more things CHANGE, the more they stay the same."
We've got to stay on top of this, people, all of us who worked so hard for it. Yes, nearly every one of us has received an Obama finger in the eye since November 4, and yes, the Righties are beginning to rave and smile, and yes Obama's answer to appointing a special prosecutor to hold the outgoing administration accountable for war crimes sounds EXACTLY like a Buchco answer...but he's still the only hope we have. We are the People. Let's BE THAT this time. There's hope. Right? - inactive, on 01/13/2009, -2/+3Like Obama will give a *****. He voted for the FISA amendment _and_ the PATRIOT act you tools; what the hell makes you think that he'll suddenly change his mind just because of some stupid petition? Talk about delusional.
- eco57, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1He rightly chose to support a watered down version of a bad bill rather than allow a worse bill to pass with his ineffectual 'no' protest vote. The dems were still a minority at this point.
welcome back. :) - inactive, on 01/16/2009, -2/+3Exactly. I'm glad I voted for someone who opposed ALL of the warmongering and corporate greed that Obama supported.
- regerax, on 02/10/2009, -0/+0Great post, I completely agree. Something needs to be done about this and nobody in the government is ever going to without some kind of action from us.
- inactive, on 01/13/2009, -1/+1LOL Thanks, Eureka!
- CharlotteCorday, on 01/13/2009, -1/+1I think he is less "in a rush" than just a Fan of Rush. Not be CRUEL, poprocksand. And that IS cruel.

If you weren't so ignorant, you would know this.
- scottsoperson, on 09/03/2009, -0/+0most americans don't know what the Constitution says.
- DreadPirate, on 01/16/2009, -1/+1Instead you voted for someone who attacked a cop for doing his job and claims that 5000 prisoners were shot and killed in a swamp during Katrina - *such* an improvement!
- poprocksandsoda, on 01/13/2009, -8/+5Sorry but Obama is for FISA so I think you should all stand behind him on this one. As much as I didn't care for him as a candidate he is our President now and this is one thing I respect about him; he will stand up to the multitude of inept and ignorant Americans unwilling to take the steps necessary to do the one thing the President should do: protect American lives at home and abroad. Kudos to Hollywood on this one.
