Gay Student Bullied, Principal's Solution? "Don't Be Gay."
nwfdailynews.com — “He explained that Jane Doe should not be gay and she should not tell people she is gay, ” Stevenson wrote of Davis. “Defendant Davis also told Jane Doe the ‘gay pride’ was a disgrace to the school.”

- RobertDi, on 02/03/2008, -420/+42the government in the USA would like everyone to be gay by the propaganda pushed in our faces daily and by educvating children that its ok to be gay. This way they can pack that many more people into this country to collect their taxes from
- geekchic, on 02/03/2008, -23/+235There is nothing wrong with educating children that it is acceptable to be gay. So long as you don't say that being gay is "better" - or, incidentally that being straight is "better" either.
Both are primal biological urges. A gay person can no more "turn straight" than a straight person can "turn gay" - so why not simply accept that and let everyone get on with their lives as if it was an irrelevence?- JimmySpaza, on 02/03/2008, -177/+12Not true. Reports say that some men begin having homosexual feelings after being in prison...and that many homosexual men go begin to be attracted to women after becoming Christians and asking God for help.
People can change, for good or evil. Your choice.- Hayaemsay, on 02/03/2008, -20/+116When was the last time God did anything useful?
- JimmySpaza, on 02/03/2008, -149/+11He engineered your life and allowed it to be created. He has probably protected you thousands of times from being seriously hurt even though you may never believe in Him.
- Lewie, on 02/03/2008, -12/+93So where is he every time a little girl or boy gets raped or killed? Saving Hayaemsay from spraining his ankle?
- JimmySpaza, on 02/03/2008, -105/+9@Lewie
I don't know. Why not ask Him yourself?
God never said that this world is Heaven, just a fallen world with good and bad circumstances. When/if we get to Heaven, then we'll be protected infinitely forever.
Now...well, let's just say that free will has consequences to ourselves and those around us. It's up to us to do the right thing and not rely on God to shield us from ourselves all the time. - unorginalityftw, on 02/03/2008, -6/+55Because he won't answer, so it'd be pointless.

- Gir53457, on 02/03/2008, -3/+21Thank you god for engineering me with psoriasis, kidney failure and then cancer. I mean, with out these hurdles I had to literally drag myself over to get to where I am who knows what kind of immoral devil worshiper I might have turned out thanks to you; I might have even gotten laid in high school if it weren't for you. Thank you for taking away my tempations, right kidney and eight inches of my small intestine.
Oh. And I'm sterile. Thanks for that.
- makkaveli19, on 02/03/2008, -10/+37being gay is evil? wtf, if you said wrong it would be ok i guess but EVIL. come on!
- LeeSoong, on 02/03/2008, -6/+3EVIL = HARMFUL.
Is selecting to live as a homosexual harmful ?
Is drinking large quantities of beer harmful ?
Eating Jelly doughnuts every morning and McDonalds every night is harmful, eating red meat and cheese is harmful, and smoking is harmful, so why not tell the truth?
Live your life so your grandchildren can be happy to have you as a grandparent.
- LeeSoong, on 02/03/2008, -6/+3EVIL = HARMFUL.
- erkokite, on 02/03/2008, -4/+25While true in some cases, it certainly isn't true in all. Isn't that common sense that people will be swayed by social norms in either prison or church? It is also true that plenty of people just are gay because that is what their internal biology/psychology tells them, whether they choose to or not. As for your good or evil comment, that was way out of line and incredibly ignorant.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 02/03/2008, -1/+41[citation needed preferably from an unbiased source]
- spacecoyote1966, on 02/03/2008, -4/+56Straight men who have sex with other men in prison are just horny and desperate, they are not gay. Bi maybe. But not gay. And sorry to burst your bubble but these "success stories" about gay people changing are crocks of *****. Those people are either bi and can therefore go one way or the other or the "change" they claim to have had is actually repression. And I guarantee you if they continue repressing their real sexuality they will wind up like Larry Craig.
- LeeSoong, on 02/03/2008, -8/+3Why hasn't natural selection and evolution eliminated homosexuality ?
It seems that homosexual behavior would reduce the number of successful offspring, and the genes making up homosexuality would get eliminated from the gene pool.
So homosexuality must be rooted in social, environmental, and biological factors, not 100% selected by genetics.
Human behavior is a bit more complex than that of the fruit fly, (I hope!). - kayala, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1I'd be willing to bet that natural selection hasn't eliminated homosexuality for the same reason that it hasn't eliminated sickle-cell anemia, cystic fibrosis or hemophilia.
- LeeSoong, on 02/03/2008, -8/+3Why hasn't natural selection and evolution eliminated homosexuality ?
- Reziarfg, on 02/03/2008, -4/+64I usually don't reply to posts like this because it's just asking for trouble. But I'm going to attempt to make fun/ridicule your silly horrible runaway train of logic.
First of all, I like how you say some reports without citing any sources. That's about as good as me saying, 76% of blue whales have erectile dysfunction.
Secondly, I'm sure there are some men who have homosexual feelings after being in prison. And after playing Yahtzee, or watching the animal planet. Thanks again for not providing any actual statistics or sources btw.
I'm afraid to touch this point with a 10-foot pole. I mean, not only are you delving into religion, but it seems like a thinly veiled jab at saying gay christians aren't good, or that something magical happens (assuming biological roots to homosexuality) that changes your affiliation from gay to straight once you ask "God for help".
The last point you try to make is possibly the biggest pile of rubbish I've heard on these here internets. Not only are you contextually asserting that homosexuality is inherently evil, but that it's something that needs to change.
You know what, nevermind, let's all go back to worshipping virgin born zombie-jews.- moskaudancer, on 02/03/2008, -1/+18As logically founded and well-conceived as your response is, don't expect to be able to talk sense into Spaza. His past comments seem to indicate that his train of thought is perpetually boarding at the station.
- VinceNoir, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2The poor blue whales. Why don't we fill the oceans with Viagra?! That should solve the problem!
- eohano, on 02/03/2008, -1/+22In your last comment, you say homosexuals turn into heterosexuals after ASKING God for help. Now you say He has saved us all even though we don't believe in Him.
- JimmySpaza, on 02/03/2008, -3/+1Where did I say that God has saved every person including those who don't believe in Him?
- wastelander, on 02/03/2008, -2/+22I am pretty sure the only people who claim "homosexuals have a choice" are themselves repressed homosexuals. If they were truly straight I am sure they would see that the possibility of being able to "choose" to be sexually attracted to another dude was just ridiculous (its probably also why many of the same men can't see any reason for having sex (with a woman) other than procreation). Kind of sad actually.
As for prisoners.. a sociopath will probably f*@# just about anything.. just out of boredom.- Plinkotic, on 02/03/2008, -1/+3Men will, given the appropriate length of time away from porn and females, carve themselves a ***** out of a mango. - skylowr, on 02/03/2008, -1/+14I would have to agree with your very last statement only... people can be evil or good... it is a choice. To imply that being homosexual is evil and heterosexual is good is extremely offensive.
Being evil or good is a choice, and I can tell from your comment that you made the wrong choice.- JimmySpaza, on 02/03/2008, -4/+1I never said that having homosexual tendencies, however genetically-based, is evil. Now, the choice to ACT on those tendencies is indeed a matter of good and evil.

Your argument has already lost most of its weight.
"People can change, for good or evil."
This is why I'm tempted to hate Christians, but I would rather not stoop to your level and make generalizations about people I don't know. It must be blissful to be able to pass judgment on people without taking any responsibility for the damage you cause. It's people like you that halt human progress.- JimmySpaza, on 02/03/2008, -4/+1You didn't read my post. I never said that anyone should pass judgment on others including those with homosexual tendencies.
- BlackBob, on 02/04/2008, -1/+2Spaza: What are you talking about? You pass judgment on others just about every time you open your mouth.
- ronaldinho, on 02/03/2008, -1/+5OK I'm guessing JimmySpaza is a Christian. JImmy, I'm one too, but next time, put up some link for those reports. And while I do think that going to church and praying to God does help in changing your sexual preferences if you want to, it's also true that homosexuality CAN be genetic. So you can't just "change" it, or it will be very difficult to do so. Am I against homosexuality? Well let's say I don't want myself and my family to not be straight, but I won't discriminate people just because they are gay. I have met some of them who are the nicest and smartest people, and the only difference between me and then is sexual preference. As long as they don't touch me (if they are a guy), then I'm fine. It's their choice to change or not, but it's very difficult.

- phronko, on 02/03/2008, -0/+11Less than biologically unrelated people? Which makes exactly the opposite point that you're trying to?
If you're going to ask rhetorical questions, at least know the answer to them.- deadmann, on 02/03/2008, -4/+2No. I think you'll agree twins have quite a similar environment. Though unlike DNA, not exactly the same. But more similar than two unrelated people.

- JimmySpaza, on 02/03/2008, -177/+12Not true. Reports say that some men begin having homosexual feelings after being in prison...and that many homosexual men go begin to be attracted to women after becoming Christians and asking God for help.
- SpaceRibs, on 02/03/2008, -10/+82Sometimes I wish I hadn't gone to art school just to argue with you people all day and enjoy myself. I'm not gay myself, but my mom is, and it's hard to believe how ignorant and foolish you and your statements manage to be.
How do you live with yourself?- FeartheKnighted, on 02/03/2008, -14/+8I'm confused.
- unorginalityftw, on 02/03/2008, -2/+33Assuming his profile is correct and he is 21 and from the US, it is probable he was born in a time being gay was horrible and would have you ostracized, so his mom basically did what every other gay person did, hide it and live 'normal', and have kids. Alternatively he could've be born a different way, like in vitro (I guess, if they had it... I don't know.).
- BlackCow, on 02/03/2008, -3/+20Or he could have just been adopted.
- SpaceRibs, on 02/03/2008, -1/+29Unorginalityftw is correct, my mom came out when I was 12 and she was 43. She now has a great girlfriend and is extremely happy, and if it will make RobertDi more pissed off, it's an interracial relationship.
- the14thjoey, on 02/03/2008, -0/+3It's not such a stretch to just say a gay woman just happened to have sex with a man and became pregnant, possibly on purpose.
- mathcreative, on 02/03/2008, -19/+1I can't say I could possibly understand the feelings of your mom. But doing something just because it makes you happy doesn't mean it's right. This isn't just a moral issue, it's a genetic one. Our brains are genetically programmed to do certain things in life. You notice how the brain and the body encourages you to be around others, and how encourages you to eat certain foods, and how the body encourage's reproduction. In general if we don't listen to what I body and mind tell use to do, the after effects can turn out to be negative. For most people their bodies tell them to mate with a man or women, and we have yet to know the effect of doing other wise. Because we don't really don't know we should assume that in generally it will turn out negatively when you don't listen to your body and/or mind. I am not trying to say anything about your mom space ribs, I am just talking in general. I unfortunately do not have any hard numbers at hand, but I hope you can see where I am going from even it you disagree

I'm sorry, you almost had an arguement with me except this sentence stopped me in my tracks. It isn't a moral issue at all, it isn't a biological one either, it's her CHOICE and I couldn't be happier for her.
But thats the real problem isn't it? You'd rather she made YOUR choice and the world would be a better more normal place. I'm sorry about that rant, but if thats how your going to approach me in debate ... jesus are you stuck in the middle ages? waiting for that big pie in the sky? maybe you should think about enjoying your life.

- carterbaldwin, on 02/03/2008, -2/+58Seriously, do you even think about your opinions? If the US Gov't were truly trying to enlarge the tax base by any means, they wouldn't tell people to stop making babies. Moron.
- meesphht, on 02/03/2008, -47/+3No they're not worried about their tax base - this is another way for people to not have any kids. The controllers want the population down that's why this queer agenda is being pushed. It's also the reason that they must have more wars. They want the numbers down - next it's the elderly and then the 60 year olds.
- carterbaldwin, on 02/03/2008, -2/+23Of course! The illuminati just want to steal our plasma tvs after we're dead! It's so simple!
- decyx, on 02/03/2008, -1/+6That's a stupid conspiracy theory. America's population growth is actually not that high with the average family usually having no more than two kids. The majority of growth in our nation is due to immigration.

- decyx, on 02/03/2008, -1/+9Yeah, that's just it. We're not advocating gay rights, because they have a right to go through their daily lives without fear of reprisal from radical bible thumpers and insecure heterosexuals who can't stomach the thought of a gay person sharing the same air as them. We're doing it, because we're embedded government spies trying to lure unwitting gays to our country so we can collect taxes from them.
- buckrogers1965, on 02/03/2008, -2/+7"Radical bible thumpers and insecure heterosexuals" are really just secretly gay men that are jealous that other people get to do what they fear to do so much. - whitesaint, on 02/03/2008, -359/+57Being gay isn't biological, something happens in a person's life that makes them unattracted to the opposite sex. It really is unnatural. Every girl I know that is a lesbian; they were raped, abused or something happened that made them change ways. All the stuff about it happening naturally is BS.
- Isileth, on 02/03/2008, -23/+93Im sorry but that is deffinately not the same as the majority.
I have several gay friends who have had perfectly normal upbringings, infact better than several of my straight friends.
I personally dont feel its something that biological, rather a choice. I fully support that choice I should add. I see nothing wrong with it at all. As long as they are happy and it doesnt hurt anyone else how is it a problem?
Because you dont like it? It doesnt effect you.- MistyEstelle, on 02/03/2008, -11/+73I agree with most of what you said, however being homosexual is NOT a choice and it really bothers me when people say it is.
- pands, on 02/03/2008, -55/+3Well i choose to be straight and not gay so i can only assume otherwise.
- docbob84, on 02/03/2008, -2/+39If it's that easy, then here's a challenge: try to "choose" to be gay for a month. Don't worry, after a month is up you can "choose" to be straight again. You can ask your god/goddess/idol/cow/whatever for forgiveness, and everything will be hunky-dory. In the meantime, during that month that you're gay, try a few things out. If nothing else, "choose" to come out to your parents and/or friends. After all, at the end of the month you can tell them you "chose" to change your mind and be straight again, so everything will be fine right? Let's see if you're man enough to tell your friends/family that. I'm betting you're not.
People who think homosexuality is a choice are A) incredibly stupid, or B) haven't thought the process through. Why would you make a choice like that for yourself? Why would you continue to make it, when ignorant assholes can make life so difficult for anybody different from the norm? - pushmouse, on 02/03/2008, -0/+27You aren't choosing to be straight. Only 1 of my gay friends says he way born that way, the rest would say they chose it.
I dont think we are born with a desire for the opposite sex, it comes about much later and its during that time that we "choose" what we are attracted to. Its the same way there isnt a set type of person people are attracted to, everyone has their own thing they look for. Sex is just another of those in my eyes.
Of course my own experience is limited as im straight, so as I said this is based upon my friends experience more than anything.
At the end of the day it really doesnt matter how it comes about to me. I have no problem with anyone for such reasons but its a shame there are still those that view it a disease that should be cured. In that respect it would be nice to see it as a choice just to remove the posibility of parents trying to force a "cure" on their child.- Plinkotic, on 02/03/2008, -0/+5Either you're full of *****, or your friends are. Okay so I'm physically, emotionally, and mentally attracted to my girlfriend (whom, I may add, has had a nice upbringing and has never been sexually assaulted by the opposite sex). I didn't choose to fall in love with her, just like my mother didn't choose to fall in love with my dad. Just like you didn't choose to have your heart broken. Just like you didn't choose to have a birth defect. If I could choose my sexual orientation, I would honestly never want to be straight. I am so thankful that I am in love with this amazing woman.
In short, haha, (I lost sight of the real matter at hand.)
Being gay is not a choice.

- MistyEstelle, on 02/03/2008, -11/+73I agree with most of what you said, however being homosexual is NOT a choice and it really bothers me when people say it is.
- Adamande, on 02/03/2008, -8/+147So the cause of homosexuality in all the several hundred species we've discovered it in, is that they all suffered trauma? Battered dolphin-syndrome? Interesting theory.

You're calling BS on homosexuality being unnatural then I'm calling BS on your claim that every lesbian you know was tramatically abused. So am I supposed to assume that when you've met (at least those who you know are) lesbians they've gone into their rape stories with you, someone who thinks being a lesbian is unnatural? BS, whitesaint. That is pure BS. Please just show me any statistic backing up this claim.- mathcreative, on 02/03/2008, -4/+1I don't think there's any company or organization that could legally collect statistics backing that kind of issue up

You can change yourself..... find a local meeting... you can get over your homophobia. Good luck. - oldgal, on 02/03/2008, -0/+10does that then mean that trauma can change genetic markers?

Are you out of your gourd? What's even more outrageous is the fact that you're also implying that a perfectly straight person will turn gay if they are molested or raped at some point in their life by someone of the same sex.
- Matt174e, on 02/03/2008, -0/+8Interesting.
Can you explain to me why I like the colour teal? It's always been bugging me. Every day I have to deal with dick heads in my school, and even the younger students yell at me in the hallways. "THAT'S THE GUY WHO LIKES THE COLOUR TEAL!"
I'm afraid to tell my parents. I can't imagine what they would do if they found out that my favorite colour was teal.
When me and my family were shopping for a new van, I pointed out a nice one in the distance (it was teal, but I was complementing the make, not the colour). Myy dad was furious... he was so mad that I would say anything nice about a teal vehicle, I could have sworn he was going to take a swing at me.
I don't know what it is. Maybe it was something that happened in my childhood? I was always given blue balloons. I never had a teal toy in ym life as far as I know.
I'm afraid it's going to ruin the relationship I have with my family. I already lost my friends because of it, and none of the girls in my school will even look at me. I don't even wear teal cloths, but if I do I'm afraid that I would be beaten. I don't know why people are so angry about the colour teal.
Maybe Dr. Phil can help me, or at least teach the world some tolerance. - PnkRckMiguel, on 02/14/2008, -0/+0Dude, are you serious? Not ALL gay people experience a traumatic event that made them that way.
Neuroscientist Simon Levay has done scientific research that has proven that the hypothalamus gland governing sexual behavior is about twice as large in heterosexual men as it is in homosexual men. Yes that is SCIENTIFICALLY proven, not some opinionated rant from some uneducated moron.

- Bobombom, on 02/03/2008, -77/+3Since when has being born "gay" been possible? More that 80% of scientists are sure that such a gene should not exist as natrual selection would not allow it.
Go learn your material before you start implying causation on the basis of a single, unproven study.- niallabrown, on 02/03/2008, -0/+51It really doesn't matter either way!? Gay people don't need an excuse to be gay. Why do they need one? There is NOTHING WRONG WITH IT weather they are born as or choose to be. I wish people would drop this stupid argument and just get back to worrying about their own lives.
- niallabrown, on 02/03/2008, -3/+13Sorry that first statement is not a question.
- mlirblur, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1I agree with you. I also agree with the argument that a gay gene is completely ridiculous. Sure, it's possible that it's a part of human nature, but it doubt sexual orientation is ingrained in the fibers of our existence. I think it's more a question of psychology and the fact that sexual desire in general does not discriminate by gender. No one is completely hetero or homosexual, as glimpses of same-sex attraction ALWAYS occur in those who declare themselves as straight.
But although sexual orientation is NOT an inevitable fact of genetics but rather a stated choice, that does NOT mean that it is then allowed to be ridiculed and belittled if it is an unpopular choice to make.
- ncairns, on 02/03/2008, -1/+43"More that 80% of scientists are sure that such a gene should not exist as natrual selection would not allow it."
In my personal experience - which includes lab time with some of the preeminent biologists in the world - about 99% of them actually agree that homosexuality is undoubtedly genetic. - manitoba98xp, on 02/03/2008, -0/+16Have you ever heard of "recessive genes"? The same way many life-threatening diseases can be genetic, even those that kill before reproduction is possible. The gene is passed on through carriers nonetheless.
(I'm not calling homosexuality a disease by any means, I'm forced to draw that analogy because they both prevent reproduction in nature. There is nothing wrong with homosexuality.)- mlostracco, on 02/03/2008, -0/+5Speaking of things that are abnormal, it's a good thing that blue eyes and left-handedness aren't around anymore or else that argument might not hold water.
- mathcreative, on 02/03/2008, -3/+1Having blue eye's and being left-handed don't prevent reproduction. On the other hand I do agree with manitoba98xp and his recessive gene explanation. It might be the the main reason why home sexuality hasn't been rooted out by evolution
- BTConan, on 02/03/2008, -2/+1Yes, it is definitely a choice to be a home sexual.
/That was sarcasm for all you ar-tards.
- NiftySwifty, on 02/03/2008, -0/+11A) You're lying - 80% of scientists do not believe that because B) A simple and quick google search will yield hundreds of pages explaining why a gay gene wouldn't automatically be weeded out. Let me give you a quick potential scenario: Oscar Wilde. Gay. Had 2 kids. Wow--that was easy.
- Plinkotic, on 02/03/2008, -0/+1Yeah, no, Google Searches are completely relevant. I found a page called Tubgirl, I've yet to submit it for analysis because I can't write the report up blind.
- JoeVet, on 02/03/2008, -0/+13As a scientist concerned with genetic causation of disease I can say your talking out your ass. Most reputable scientist believe that homosexuality has a genetic basis. The few that don't support that hypothesis are generally those too blinded by their religious conviction to judge with an open mind. In fact this question is of intense interest but the funding is unavailable. Presumably because an answer in the affirmative would rock the Christian world to its core.
- Plinkotic, on 02/03/2008, -0/+1How about a simple theory: orientation is a random side effect of being a sex. Unless you're genital-free and you reproduce via Spores, then you have nothing to worry about. Otherwise, at a young age, you know which side you're drawn to even when you don't fully understand it. This is not to say they're fully aware of themselves or that orientation; it'll probably take a few musicals and home decorating shows to figure that out.
Do they really think there are distinct genetic Gay markers? Not to be argumentative, I could be wrong, but really? - JoeVet, on 02/03/2008, -0/+2That is unlikely because sexual orientation does not depend on the sex one is brought up with. A male child does not grow up gay simply because he is surrounded by males. Another possibility other than genes is inappropriate production of sex hormones at critical developmental stages. Sex hormones drive a lot of development. If an inappropriate hormone is over expressed then that may drive further development and lead to homosexuality. That has been shown to be the case in intersex individuals. If that is the case then it is still a biological functionand therefore still an act of God which is the real question anyways, right? I mean the Christians hold on tight to the idea of this being a conscious decision because otherwise it would suggest that homosexuals are made purposely and that would call into question the teachings of their book. But I digress. The answer is we don't know but to assume it is a conscience or even a subconscious choice defies logic. A biological cause is more highly probable. Likely it is a combination of genetic and developmental. The evidence for genetic is a familial occurrence.

- Laminarcissus, on 02/03/2008, -3/+15I agree!!! You never see heterosexuals forcing their political agenda down people's throats in schools by holding hands, or kissing in public or, if they're asked who they have a crush on, actually just *saying* that it's a member of the opposite sex, instead of finding some way around it.
Homosexual teenagers should at the very least be just like heterosexuals teenagers, and never bring up, talk about, or otherwise acknowledge any interest in sex.- mathcreative, on 02/03/2008, -6/+2Since many are not sure whether being a gay is genetic, many people feel that it's become a fad, and if people see home sexual teenagers forcing their "political agenda" just like heterosexuals. Taking a look from that view point, and I see why they should be scared.
Once it's confirmed whether homosexuality is genetic or not, then people in general won't be afraid of the influence of ***** sexuals.
For most people there's a lot to fear(other then just plain discrimination) in this area. HIV,Morals, and Religion. - mathcreative, on 02/03/2008, -4/+1What I meant to say is that since many people believe that being a homosexual is fad. They should have a lot more to fear(than homoseuxals do today) from the influence of homosexuals, than homosexuals. Their really isn't anything to fear when your a heterosexual.
- Laminarcissus, on 02/03/2008, -0/+4Heterosexuals can evaluate the nature of homosexuality by evaluating the nature of their own heterosexuality. Do they think they could get "caught up in a fad" that would convince them to get crushes on, fall in love with, and want to live in a domestic partnership with members of their same gender? If not, then why don't they think other people aren't similarly clear-minded and/or genetically predisposed?
HIV crosses the borders of sexual orientation, and is fixed by safe sex practices, not by "fixing" homosexuals.
Heterosexuals have the exclusive franchise on morality? Even if you want to define it as a sin, he among you who is without...
Religions are welcome to set their own rules on homosexuality, as long as they remember that their rules only apply to their congregation. They seem to keep forgetting that part.
- mathcreative, on 02/03/2008, -6/+2Since many are not sure whether being a gay is genetic, many people feel that it's become a fad, and if people see home sexual teenagers forcing their "political agenda" just like heterosexuals. - lovekudu, on 02/03/2008, -1/+1Reported as offensive.
- mlirblur, on 02/03/2008, -1/+1Public schools are where the government brainwashes children. They force kids to believe that certain historical figures are "great men", ban books in their libraries that expose raw truths, impose stupid rules like "no hats" or "no gum in class" to prepare kids for even dumber laws in the real world, and force kids to exercise in hopes that everyone will grow up to meet aryan physical standards. Most kids in this system either keep quiet and get good grades, turning them into conservative prudes, and others refuse to enrich themselves altogether and resort to violence, which would make bullies. These two types of kids help to rienforce the desensitisation that the school hopes to achieve.
When you live any sort of dissenting lifestyle, there is no better place to do so than in America's socialized Fascist schools. - jibii, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1You were either one of the "cool kids" or a bully in high school weren't you, MB398?

- Schwab, on 02/03/2008, -0/+50I graduated Ponce de Leon in 2005. Mr. Davis was my American History and Economics teacher at the time. He is also an Evangelical Preacher, so none of this surprises me. It was only a matter of time. During my 9th grade year I had a site that had everything about the school, games, students, what was to eat, who was dating who, all that *****. And they had me shut it down. 2 days before I graduated Mr. Davis sat me down and gave me a long speech about who I should become and that I was doing so much wrong. I have great respect for the man. He is a die hard republican and christian. Since he has became principal after I left, the school has become a hell hole. Kids aren't allowed to express themselves in any way really. not allowed to dress like they want (No Cleavage for girls, no long shirts for boys, nothing that is strange to him) and its been a really big disappointment. I love my old school, it has 400 students and is very personal. This is just too far, they need to get their act together and let it be a public school with public speech, not this christian reform school they think it is. Go Pirates.
- l0k0, on 02/03/2008, -2/+14Thanks for some context to the story. His heart may be in the right place, but his ways and means aren't, especially for a public school.
- Laminarcissus, on 02/03/2008, -1/+7I think your heart might be in the right place for saying his heart might be in the right place, but I'm sorry, I think the only way we can judge peoples' hearts are by their actions, and by that measure I honestly don't believe his heart is in the right place.
- l0k0, on 02/03/2008, -1/+1I respectfully disagree, just like I respectfully disagree with this principles opinions about gay marriage/rights. I don't claim to know the man, I'm simply basing my thoughts off Schwab's comment. He seems to be involved both politically and probably towards the betterment of his community due to his position as principle and the fact that many churches try to lend a helping hand here and there. Last but not least, I can't think of anyone in my community who sat down and gave me a long insightful talk about my future when I was going to leave two days later. This all shows me that he genuinely cares, and is involved in taking steps that he believes will make things better. As much as I may disagree with his version of a better society, I can certainly respect his efforts to achieve one. In a society where only half of eligible people vote, I'd rather be in the presence of someone I would debate with, rather than an uninformed idiot who wouldn't know much of anything about the issues.
Let's not forget that we're all human. I'm willing to bet we're all guilty of taking things we believed to be right too far. This principle just so happens to be in a relatively powerful position under the public spotlight while doing it.
- JoeVet, on 02/03/2008, -3/+18So why would you have great respect for such a man?
- Zarokima, on 02/03/2008, -7/+10He stands by his beliefs and does what he thinks is right. You can respect someone without liking or agreeing with them.

Lord knows what the principal would do to kids supporting the Day of Silence--he'd probably force them to speak.- TheMidnight, on 02/03/2008, -32/+4Day of Silence was always obnoxious though. The people that actually did it gave off the air of smug superiority, not a protest of discrimination.
- hmunkey, on 02/03/2008, -1/+20Since when do gays act superior. If anything, society tells them they're inferior.
- zacharytelschow, on 02/03/2008, -21/+3TV tells gays they are sophisticated, attractive, intelligent, and have impeccable taste. Sure sounds like we as a society really are making them feel inferior.
- sethisastud, on 02/03/2008, -0/+3TV's right...yet society still tells us we're inferior by voting that it's ok to discriminate against us. Just because people like wearing the things we design and the things we can do for us doesn't mean they respect us.
- zacharytelschow, on 02/04/2008, -2/+1How are gays discriminated against?

- round427, on 02/03/2008, -0/+25I'm a gay man. When females hit on me, I don't grab them by the hair and chuck them into the nearest body of water. Why? Because I'm not a douchebag like yourself. Get a grip.

I'm not saying you should become an ultra-gay rights advocate, but if some guy hits on you, just politely turn them away and move on with your life.
- AngelBunny, on 02/03/2008, -0/+4this news article has nothing to do with gay people hitting on others, or even gay people acting gay. the people protesting were all strait.

- Uranium118, on 02/03/2008, -27/+7You are proud of who you are, good for you, don't annoy me with it. Do I keep reminding you of how straight I am? No need to have a "heterosexual day" because there is nothing to celebrate, you are who you are, don't push it in other's people face. I don't see why gays need their special day.
- aks123, on 02/03/2008, -2/+25By that logic, you're probably against black history month too.
- phrstbrn, on 02/03/2008, -5/+14As long people don't complain when I start white pride month, I'm cool with it.
- Lyph5, on 02/03/2008, -5/+13Well, every month should be spent studying history of various races.
But, of course, wanting to advance heterosexual white males is going to get someone called a racist, sexist, or bigot. Isn't it great living in tolerant times? - StarlessKnight, on 02/03/2008, -3/+8phrstbrn: Because White history isn't celebrated enough, right? It's not like White history was the predominant focus in History classes, previously, after all. White history is a fringe group that needs its own month so we all recognize White achievements.
Asian Americans probably need some more attention, though. Latin Americans and associated regions could use a little more. Middle Eastern Americans. South Asian Americans. Russian Americans (outside of the Cold War bit). Unfortunately there are only 9 months in a school year, roughly, with that time shrinking every budget years, it seems. Plus you have to incorporate ancient history, English history, American history, history of major events (e.g. World War II)... probably make a teacher's job easier to organize, every month being assigned a subject, but would there be enough time?
- zellis, on 02/03/2008, -1/+20"Do I keep reminding you of how straight I am?"
Yes.
Every mention of being married is a reminder of heterosexuality. Every mention of giving birth is a mention of heterosexuality. Every mention of going out on a date with an opposite sex partner is a reminder of heterosexuality. Every public kiss between a man and a woman is a reminder of heterosexuality. Every public assessment of the physical attractiveness of a member of the opposite sex is a reminder of heterosexuality.
Straight people don't notice how much they broadcast their straightness because it's the norm for them: they can't see what they're doing any more than a fish can see the water that they live in. But to someone who isn't straight, straight people don't just continually "remind" us that they're straight, they've erected an entire social order that broadcasts the fact, and leaves anyone who doesn't fit into that order gasping for breath.
I don't see why you want to begrudge us a small bubble in which we can breathe easy for a short time.- Akairenn, on 02/03/2008, -1/+5I think you're missing the point, to be honest. Straight people broadcast their heterosexuality as the norm? Heterosexuality *is* the norm. No, the real problem is this: I've never lost a job for being heterosexual. I've never been followed down a dark alley, nor a well-lit alley, and have never ended up being beaten within an inch of my life for being heterosexual. No one looks at me, rolls their eyes in disgust, and launches a harassment campaign consigning me to burn in the imaginary flames of their fantasy afterlife if I look at a hot chick and say, "I'd hit it."
Well, maybe feminists do, but I haven't run into many of those. ;)
There's a reason there are protests, and marches, and days of pride, and all those things. It's because homosexuals are still largely second class citizens. And for what? Because of backward-thinking neanderthals who can't get past the fact that where a person sticks their naughty bits is entirely their own business, and quite frankly, affects no one else other than the consenting adults involved. Yeah, if I was gay, I'd be a bit miffed too, I think. The hell with making people uncomfortable; it's the only way things get changed. - decyx, on 02/03/2008, -1/+6Seriously. Uranium118 is making it sound as if it's their whole identity. It's not, but it's one aspect that gets them wrongfully mistreated regardless of creed, gender, or race. I can't quote them directly, but someone on digg once enlightened me by saying that these rallies are not a way of shoving their lifestyle into your face. Rather, it's a way to make their presence known so that closeted gays who are too scared to be themselves can see them and think, "I'm not the only one. I'm not a freak."
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of these events either, but knowing that it could prevent another tragic suicide is reason enough for me to support it. - mathcreative, on 02/03/2008, -2/+1Decyx, I like your reseasoning even if I don't support it. Dugg for someone actually thinking clearly to support one side or the other.
- arplayer2k, on 02/03/2008, -7/+3@zellis
Sorry for being straight. If you cant handle the heat, go to planet gay where everybody is gay phobic in the sense that they wont live their lives normally because they don't want to offend the minority. Gay? Great for you, really. Scream it form every rooftop if you want. Express the hell out of it on your own time. Don't ask other people to go out of their way and change the way they have been living lives to accommodate you. That is pure selfish. Being gay has always been the minority and always will be. Don't expect us to roll out any red carpeting for you guys... because simply there is no need to.
It sounds like you are quite envious of normal people. Envious of them having kids, them kissing each other, commenting on each other's attractiveness, etc. If it bothers you that much, move to a gay friendly city, and go gaycrazy with your new found community.
Its just like saying.... "dont talk about eating meat, because there are vegans around." HAHAHAHAHAHA. Doesn't work that way in the real world.- zellis, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1I'm not gay, I'm bisexual. But thanks for playing.
- kayala, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1How is any gay person asking you to change your life to benefit them? Unless your life revolves around gay harassment, that sounds pretty far-fetched to me.
- Akairenn, on 02/03/2008, -1/+5I think you're missing the point, to be honest. Straight people broadcast their heterosexuality as the norm? Heterosexuality *is* the norm. - bwad, on 02/03/2008, -5/+18Yes you and the rest of society do keep reminding us about how straight you are. ""Don't annoy me with it"?!? A lot of advertisements revolve around sex or love or similar themes, and I can guaranteee 99.9999999% of these are straight. No to mention how many straight couples do you see kissing and holding hands in public, vs gay people. So yes we do get reminded how straight 90% of the world is, several hundred times a day. Only people with issues and security about their own sexuality say crap like "don't push it in other peoples faces"
- mathcreative, on 02/03/2008, -8/+5Please it's the norm. It's like saying just the fact that water takes up most of the surface of the earth. That the water is reminding us that it's takes up most of the earth's surface.

- SingerSirCoda, on 02/03/2008, -0/+5And, conversely, it's not OK to make fun of somebody for something just because they can control it.
- niallabrown, on 02/03/2008, -1/+4Which is besides the point because there is nothing to make fun of. Gay people are fine the way they are, they do not need an excuses like genetics to justify being gay. People need to learn to respect them for who they are. Why do people feel the need to treat it like "the poor gay people can't help it it's not their fault they are forced to do something wrong."
They have done NOTHING wrong.- Insolent, on 02/03/2008, -0/+1You're right. I haven't. But if I could pop a pill daily and not be gay, with extremely low risks, it would keep me from the physical and mental harm from hostile bigots, the social stigma, and the cost of therapy I will no likely need to seek because of my low self-esteem from years of conditioning by society that logic and telling myself "there's nothing wrong with you" just doesn't seem to fix or allow me to cope.
- sethisastud, on 02/03/2008, -1/+3Are you gay? Would you really take a pill to try to change your sexual orientation? I know I wouldn't...after years of hating myself, I finally accepted it and am WAY happier than I was growing up. I've had gay mannerisms me entire life, it's ingrained in my personality, if taking a pill would take all of that away and make me just another boring breeder I know for a fact I wouldn't want that. (No offense to the straighties out there, it's just that I enjoy my crazy bitchy personality finally...it's who I am and I like it...and I don't think I could/would be this way if I were straight and I'd be some run of the mill sensible person.)
- Insolent, on 02/03/2008, -1/+0You could have a personality that's equally unique and interesting but not be gay. it's not 'boring breeder or bitchy effeminate queer,' and while I like sex with girls its really not fulfilling. gay sex smells funny, feces is worse than female lube/urine/cum from both men and women and it's not like u can get an enema every time u ate something several hours ago. I guess not risking pregnancy while having sex is a nice bonus and so is having partners who know how to give better head (1 of 3 girls who have given me head was actually decent) and don't mind swallowing as often because they know it's not degrading, but that's all sexual. Besides the sex there really is no advantage to being gay except being 'more unique' because you are more different, but that just introduces a whole host of social disadvantages that in my opinion completely out-weigh uniqueness (plus, everyone is unique anyway). Take a pill, don't have to fight mannerisms because in the end I may end up needing to appear straight to make powerful connections or be taken more seriously by prejudiced, but well-connected douchebags. What are the chances in 15 or 20 years being gay won't take away potential votes if I run for office, or take away some portion of one's influence beyond being a celebrity? I don't want kids, biological or adopted, and I have a feeling it has to do with the fact that I'm not necessary to be part of the reproductive cycle.
It's simply irrational to say that being gay is a gift unless you really care about pregnancy and head more than all the other considerations and all the doors closed on you because you're gay. Unless I forgot something? Still, I've gone over the pros and cons and I don't really see how anyone with a realistic sense of their life can say overall they're better off gay than straight, but for myself I'm pretty damn sure it's something that holds me back and I might be better off not staying in the closet in terms of happiness, but if I will have the most positive influence as a straight person I should have to make that sacrifice and never come out.
- Insolent, on 02/03/2008, -1/+0What about straight people wanting to be gay so they can experience new things? I think people should be able to make their sexual orientation anything they want, but we don't have the knowledge or tools necessary. Also, I find women more beautiful but not as sexually attractive, and I wish I could increase my sexual desire for them and have better sex. Also knowing that I've never met a woman who truly interested me romantically, it would be nice to be bisexual with both sides equally potent.
- SingerSirCoda, on 02/03/2008, -0/+5And, conversely, it's not OK to make fun of somebody for something just because they can control it.
- cespee, on 02/03/2008, -3/+29America loves making fun of people for things they can't control. I was ugly, and everyone LOVED making fun of me in high school. After a nose job, suddenly everyone accepted me. People just didn't know why I was so shy. After a bunch of "why are you so shy" comments, I took antidepressants. Now I'm "normal" on the spectrum, except my thoughts and beliefs. And I'm just not changing those for a bunch of shallow pricks. Even if it's the digg mob.
- naldwell, on 02/03/2008, -1/+11Awesome. :D I always thought I was ugly, but I found out the reason the other kids didn't like me is because they were ugly and jealous of me. Now I feel pretty good about myself.
- Laminarcissus, on 02/03/2008, -0/+5Gay aside, I'm surprised she didn't get more crap for being named "Jane Doe."

- phenry50BMG, on 02/03/2008, -139/+15Yeah, that's great. More gay, transgender, bi, don't-know-for-sure *****.
Maybe schools should stick to reading, writing and arithmetic? I'm so sick and tired of seeing this gay agenda it's actually starting to push me against it. Typically, I'm a live and let live type of person. Once you start forcing your agenda down my throat, I'll introduce you to the throat of something that can punch through 1" steel.- cephelo, on 02/03/2008, -0/+46It's "gay agenda" protecting students from blatant discrimination and mistreatment? ...
- erkokite, on 02/03/2008, -1/+57Since when is it an agenda to not want to be bullied at school?
- scut, on 02/03/2008, -0/+23This story is more about freedom of expression and association than it is about gay rights. I fail to see how straight students supporting their GLBT classmates has anything to do with anyone forcing things down your throat.
- RobotChicken1, on 03/07/2008, -2/+3Even though I partially agree, if at least about anyone pushing any agenda, I honestly don't see how not wanting to get bullied is an agenda.
- decyx, on 02/03/2008, -0/+4So you supported gay rights until you started hearing about it too much?
- AngelBunny, on 02/03/2008, -0/+6if you feel this is being forced down your throat then you shouldn't read the story to begin with. no one is forcing you to read the news story or leave a comment.

- mooseontheloose, on 02/03/2008, -71/+10Hope she doesn't vote for Obama, he's anti-gay rights. Correct that: he's for separate but equal. Funny, you'd think as a black person he'd know better.
- shabumike, on 02/03/2008, -1/+29Wanna show us some backup on that?
- takamalak, on 02/03/2008, -2/+13He can't, he's lying :(
- njcarlos, on 02/03/2008, -3/+3Actually, he isn't lying. Go listen to Obama's response at the MTV "Closing Arguments" forum and you'll see he says, without hesitation, "I don't believe in gay marriage but I believe in civil unions and that at the Federal level civil unions should be recognized and receive the same benefits as those in heterosexual marriage." Separate, but equal.
- darienphoenix, on 02/03/2008, -2/+2That isn't anti gay rights in the slightest.
- takamalak, on 02/03/2008, -2/+13He can't, he's lying :(
- Syphon8, on 02/03/2008, -2/+19He's for equality? WHOA.
- erkokite, on 02/03/2008, -1/+16Wow, judging by your comment history, you really have something against Obama, and yet I can't find anything you say to be based in reality.
- secrity, on 02/03/2008, -2/+6*****, check your "facts".
- mille716, on 02/03/2008, -1/+16Let me clarify Obama's belief here. He's for giving full rights to gay marriages. They would be recognized under the law just the same as heterosexual marriages in all but the name. He'd just call them civil unions though because he thinks the term "marriage" is a religious ceremony. Personally, I'm for calling them marriages and hope Obama changes his mind on that but sure wouldn't go so far as to say he's anti-gay.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=FLhf1YGViyQ- sethisastud, on 02/03/2008, -0/+5I'm all for civil unions if the government does away with hetero marriages and everyone gets civil unions on a federal level...then you can go to whatever church you want and get married (since some churches believe in gay marriage.) If it's religious why is the gov't involved?
- Audhumla, on 02/07/2008, -0/+0Civil Unions in lieu of marriage is "separate but equal". It's not just about the name, its about being in the same group, as that signifies acceptance in mainstream society.
- suo97119, on 02/03/2008, -1/+9Incorrect, while Obama is against same-sex marriage, Clinton is on the same page here. Also, RP supports the definition of marriage as "Between a man and a woman." See http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/issues/issues.sam ...
This guy has a track record of inaccurate comments and extreme pro-big buisness, anti Obama rhetoric. http://digg.com/users/mooseontheloose/history/comm ...

- JimmySpaza, on 02/03/2008, -128/+11Finally, we see a principal standing up for what is right. Those whiny high schoolers will learn a lesson about not getting everything that they want. It is probable that their parents aren't disciplining them, so the school system has to.
Hmmm...allow ME to wear my "homosexuality is evil" t-shirt to school and see how tolerant they really are.- dildoolielly, on 02/03/2008, -4/+45CONS ARE REPRESSED HOMOSEXUALS

No one that I have ever talking with has expressed any fear of homosexuals or homosexuality. I am not sure what people you are referring to who are afraid of homosexuals.- JimmySpaza, on 02/03/2008, -7/+1I guess most of the leftwing types who dugg me down think that people with homosexual tendencies are NOT deserving of respect and kindness...given the amount of digging down.

- kayala, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1I call BS. If it's that simple to you, then why not try treating them with respect and kindness, rather than telling them that they're evil freaks and they're angering your sky daddy?

- JimmySpaza, on 02/03/2008, -5/+1Wrong. You're making wild guesses and assumptions and bringing the issue of homosexuality into the equation when the real issue is free speech. Whether the t-shirt is about sexuality, save the whales, or X-Box v. Playstation is irrelevant.

- Nougat, on 02/03/2008, -2/+15If someone had been wearing a "heterosexuality is evil" t-shirt, then your comment would make sense.
- msfayzer, on 02/03/2008, -1/+3That's the point, you should be allowed to wear a t-shirt of that nature if you so wish. That is why it is called freedom of speech. You can express whatever you want in a non-violent manner. It goes both ways.
- McFaggot, on 06/30/2008, -0/+0Are you retarded? If someone wore "homosexuals are evil" t-shirt to a school they'd be asked to get sent home and you know it! Freedom of speech only works for minorities

- zplot, on 02/03/2008, -12/+159My high school had over 4000 students, and only 1 student admitted to being homosexual while I was there. The friends of mine who turned out to be gay were afraid of coming out until college.
I thought it was terrible that high school students could be so immature that gay students would be this uncomfortable. It is clear now that such high school immaturity extends beyond the students.- NachoBusiness, on 02/03/2008, -0/+28We had a Gay Straight Alliance in my HS. I went as a heterosexual, and there were like 6 openly gay people. The funny thing is, all 6 are now straight. There are a lot of people in my HS who turned out to be gay, but didn't come out until college. So in this case, and I think a lot (but not all) cases, the actual gay people tend to just remain closeted until high school is over.
- Lyph5, on 02/03/2008, -1/+11Being a teen is confusing. It's normal to not know what you want or who you are until you've experienced a taste of life.
- mdude85, on 02/03/2008, -1/+5It's interesting people say that and yet, when a guy decides he likes girls when he's 14, nobody questions that maybe he'll turn out gay once he experiences a "taste of life". But if he decides he likes other guys when he's 14, then suddenly his lack of life experience becomes a matter of course. This seems like a clear double standard.
- thunderer, on 02/03/2008, -0/+7No, funny is when your school's GSA has no gay people (or at least no one is out) in it, but has to use the auditorium since it won't fit in a classroom for meetings.

- wipis, on 02/03/2008, -2/+13I had a few gay friends in high school. Some I knew were gay others I suspected some I didn't know. I'm all for gay rights and their right to express themselves but there is a reason a lot of people don't come out till after high school. My school is small and pretty forward thinking but we had our fair share of rednecks that liked to pick on the gay and "different" kids. Our school had a policy that prevented students from wearing disruptive clothing and from doing anything that would be seen as hateful or make others uncomfortable (clothes, signs, art, speech, music etc). There is always a fine line between expression and hurt but I like to think my school did a good job. The fact that this school had no policy towards these things amazes me.
- sloppjyoe890, on 02/03/2008, -14/+1I went to a high school in coweta oklahoma and graduated with 138 people, there were only like 400 kids in my school and there were about 4 openly gay kids. Everyone at my school was really supportive of gay rights despite being a very conservative demographic. The only problem sprang from the gay kids inventing problems that they didnt really have, every few days there was a gay kid crying about how much prejudice he/she faced on a daily basis, keep in mind these kids had like 2 foot high peacock hair and dressed very bright flamboyant colors, they had a very distinctive lisp and openly chastised the straight kids. One day my friend came in and passed the table they sat at and as he passed one of the kids said something along the lines of "***** that guy he's a bitch." My friend turned right around and beat the crap out of that kid and got suspended for a year for a combination of a hate crime and assault. The moral of the story is to be afraid of everything be3acus no matter what you do it's wrong, and don't stand up for you're beliefs unless they are of the same persuasions and color you are.
sorry for the long post, and i don't use the word "gay" derogatorily its just quicker than saying homosexual.- bludragn0, on 02/03/2008, -0/+5Shenanigans.
