- michaelpinto, on 03/29/2009, -7/+151You guys are being too harsh - numbers and what got us into this problem, so numbers won't help us one bit if we want to get out of this mess. When President Palin appoints appoints Joe the Plumber to run the economy the first thing we're going to get rid of is all of this pesky math crap (just like Bush did with science).
- freedomjoe, on 03/29/2009, -11/+144dem plan had projections, numbers, was 400-500 pages long. Rep one was 19 pages, no numbers, nothing but criticism of dem plan. they even stole the font and layout from dems. pathetic.
- AgeofMastery, on 03/29/2009, -8/+122All generalities and no specifics.
In other words, a whole lot of nothing. - Athelwulf, on 03/29/2009, -9/+98DEER OBAMA
YOO SUX AND GUVMINT SUX TOO SO PLEEZ REPEEL ALL TAXEZ ON DA RITCH
KTHX - novenator, on 03/29/2009, -9/+81Maybe it's still locked in Dick Cheney's man-sized safe.
- Firstdaughter, on 03/29/2009, -14/+81"contains no numbers"
So it's as empty as their heads... - Murrabbit, on 03/29/2009, -6/+62Math is for arugula eating elitists!
- LeechesOfKarma, on 03/29/2009, -11/+63This is another example of why I have zero confidence with these idiots (dem or rep) passing anything off as actual progress in correcting their many mistakes in this economic collapse!
- CopernicusCenji, on 03/29/2009, -0/+47Backbone? Are we talking about the same Repugs that were acting like beaten dogs just because they got called down by Boss Limbaugh? Foresight? If Conservatives had just a ***** ounce of foresight, we wouldn't be entrenched in an expensive and needless overseas war with Iraq. We likely would've gone in to Afghanistan, hunted the Taliban down there, then cut off as many remaining cells as we could. Not quite as neat and tidy as such, but certainly not as much of a global ***** that Iraq has become. Also, the only reason the Democrats are spending money like it's going out of style is because the country has been neglected for the past 8 years, it needs a figurative transfusion, and maybe something to stimulate growth.
Also, Spendocrats? Really? Did you come up with that one all by yourself, or did Bill O'Reilly tell you to start saying it so that people know you've been enlightened by the "No Spin Zone"? Moron. - wonderchemist, on 03/29/2009, -11/+58Giving out firm numbers would just embolden the liberals...
- tgc1, on 03/29/2009, -4/+50***** thing sucks.
There's no numbers in there.
***** it, we'll do it live. - sigmaman2, on 03/29/2009, -1/+47LOL I'm assuming that was on page eighteen.
- deadbaby, on 03/29/2009, -8/+52I suspect the GOP budget probably involves building an ark and nuking the polar ice caps. I guess, to their credit, that is one way of solving this situation. Probably not the best but at least they're trying.
- HimThatSpeaks, on 03/29/2009, -4/+47Science down - check.
Math down - check.
Reading down - check.
Republican rule guranteed - check. - DEFSMAC, on 03/29/2009, -5/+4519 pages and no numbers? that is quite the accomplishment. next year they should really aim high and go for 25 pages with no words, just pictures.
- HimThatSpeaks, on 03/29/2009, -3/+40Haha. Republicans have budget proposal with no numbers. Kind of like other things they have done. Going to war with Iraq without reason, helping victims of Katrina without providing help, honoring the Constitution without honor... the list goes on.
I have a little more confidence in democrats than republicans. Just a little more. - 0tis, on 03/29/2009, -3/+40I notice the American Right on Digg have left this alone so far. Although it can seem otherwise, it's not Republican values most people have a problem with - it's the idiots who are supposed to be doing things about them and then come out with crap like this.
That said, Hoover, Reagan, Bush - surely somebody would have got the idea that "laissez-faire" doesn't really work by now. - Altair27, on 03/29/2009, -2/+37You should see their new chairman....
- JenniferInMO, on 03/29/2009, -6/+40You should see their new web site http://www.gop.gov it looks eerily similar to http://www.whitehouse.gov.
- sigmaman2, on 03/29/2009, -3/+36"Here it is, Mr. President!"
"But...this has no numbers...no...uhhhh...no specifics."
"No, but it has my cooties on it! And now you have them too! NYA-NYA NI-NYA-NYA!"
*sticks out tongue and runs out of the oval office. - Athelwulf, on 03/29/2009, -1/+32You want the government to give you a FREE unicorn? That's socialism! (Unless you're rich, in which case you need a bailout, because the wealth must be more highly concentrated so the economy doesn't crash... Oh wait.)
- Frankyfan3, on 03/29/2009, -4/+32Reality has a clear liberal bias.
- ripple123, on 03/29/2009, -4/+31careful republicans, numbers can lead to facts. thats some scary *****.
- biotch, on 03/29/2009, -1/+28Yeah its just more talking points in a nice folder....
So they obviously screwed up here but what I dont understand is why they were so adamant in calling it a budget.... all they had to do was say its a blueprint and that the budget is coming at a later date.... By insisting that it was a budget and even going so far as to say "You're wrong Obama cuz here it is" just makes them look like fools...
And thats besides how stupid it is to even say that when Obama said there was no budget 2 days before hand when there wasnt a "budget"... and certainly not a budget either.
In their obsession to somehow prove Obama wrong, they just cemented how obviously RIGHT he was. - colincornaby, on 03/29/2009, -4/+31Are they including a free unicorn for everybody too?
Heck, I mean, if you're just writing random junk down on a piece of paper... - novenator, on 03/29/2009, -6/+32This is just another republican ploy, always has been. They have zero interest in fixing the country, they are only interested in destroying Obama and the movement for change and reform, like their corporate masters tell them to do.
- HimThatSpeaks, on 03/29/2009, -5/+31Facts kind of work that way for liberals.
- Falling2Rust, on 03/29/2009, -1/+26Free unicorns will just embolden our enemies!
- jamescarl, on 03/29/2009, -1/+24Troll Alert!!
- inactive, on 03/29/2009, -3/+26GOP = party of NO!!!
- OutlawSundown, on 03/29/2009, -3/+25 Evidently numbers are for pinko commie liberals.
- biotch, on 03/29/2009, -3/+25math is just too "fuzzy" for them.
- HimThatSpeaks, on 03/29/2009, -2/+24From the republican party would you expect anything more? I could expect less, but nothing more than nothing. Imagine how much better off this country would have been if Bush had done nothing.
- WorldLeader, on 03/29/2009, -5/+26The two party system only works if both sides work hard to keep each other balanced out and sharp with new ideas. The check and balance each other so we don't swing too far either way. The way it is now, one side is doing all the heavy lifting. If the Republicans don't start doing something concrete and productive, there will not be any compromising on issues or a balance of ideas. The country needs a good balance to make the wisest decisions.
- enantiodromia, on 03/29/2009, -3/+24numbers lead to logic, logic leads to reason, reason leads to science, science leads to humanism, humanism leads to responsibility, responsibly leads to difficult questions, difficult questions lead to difficult answers, difficult answers lead to unhappiness, unhappiness leads to doubt, doubt leads to fear, fear leads to anger, anger leads to the Dark Side.
they are doing this for our own good! ;P - ChiaGod, on 03/29/2009, -3/+23Today's budget proposal press conference was brought to you by the number 'i'.
- theSAMOL, on 03/29/2009, -4/+24I guess the Republicans were hoping page numbers would be good enough.
- inactive, on 03/29/2009, -4/+23The GOP could have at least made a pop up book.
- D1Foley, on 03/29/2009, -4/+22Well that might have been the worst thing the Republicans could have done right now. They're being referred to as the party of no yet their opportunity create an alternative to Obama's budget was just a 19 page no. So what does everyone else think RIP GOP 1854-2009?
Actually I take that back they still have time to get some real leadersh.....oh whats that Sarah Palin is leading in 2012 polling
RIP
GOP
1854-
2012 - novenator, on 03/29/2009, -2/+18They bury their heads in the sand without comment, a common ploy for the party that uses distortion and obstruction as their main weapon. Good comment, big thumbs up.
- Acewrap, on 03/29/2009, -2/+18So, these are all reasons that your party put out a budget with no actual numbers?
Fascinating. - northwatuppa, on 03/29/2009, -8/+22The GOP duget proposal was such a complete dud, it will never get dugg up. It will be completely forgotten before you know it. A bad joke. Another embarrassing footnote in the history of the GOP, if that.
- joeditto, on 03/29/2009, -3/+17Numbers we can believe in....Tax Cuts for the Rich...lol...how narrow minded can they be?
- inactive, on 03/29/2009, -1/+15ROFL!
Wow, if the rest of the trolls either made themselves useful by being entertaining or going back to the freep, Digg would be fun again! - Yez70, on 03/29/2009, -1/+15No, thats where they he keeps Bin Laden.
If we found out he already had him, we wouldn't let the war machine continue.... - Entroper, on 03/29/2009, -0/+13Isn't this the party that said Obama was all flash and no substance? The party that said CHANGE was an empty slogan with no specific plans to back it up? And their answer to a multi-hundred page detailed budget is a 20-page pamphlet of talking points?
Honestly, this doesn't make me angry, it makes me disappointed. It shows that the Republican leadership doesn't want to fix the problem, they want to win the argument. These are two very different goals. Where are the Republicans who actually want to get things done? - enantiodromia, on 03/29/2009, -3/+161/ typing with CAPS LOCK: check
2/ asserting that democrats are typically unintelligent: check
3/ pretending that democrats are the ones who scream when threatened: check
4/ un-related anecdote about a tragic incident*: check
5/ racism remark buried in a "don't deserve" statement: check
*i'm not even mentioning McCain divorcing his disfigured wife after a horrible accident so he could marry into more money, or the fact that Laura Bushed killed someone with her car when she was 17. - SammyJr, on 03/29/2009, -2/+14A huge ***** tax cut for the well to do.
10% tax on the first $100k is meaningless for most of the population. With that kind of income, your federal tax rate is nearly 0% anyway thanks to dependent and mortgage deductions. My largest taxes are property and state. Health insurance premiums would exceed all of the other taxes put together. If the Republicans wanted to help the Middle Class (and they don't), they would fix our wasteful health insurance system. - localzuk, on 03/29/2009, -2/+14Next year they're planning on releasing a pop-up book version. No numbers, just pictures of George W Bush and Sarah Palin which you can move around.
- sciencelovesyou, on 03/29/2009, -0/+12Woah, woah, woah, woah.
You're forgetting that it's Spend0cr@t with a zero and @ symbol. That's pivotal to the deeply-layered political message...
... I guess. -
