Not only is he a 10th-term Congressman, Veteran and flight surgeon, he's also a medical doctor specializing in obstetrics and has delivered more than 4,000 babies. He has earned the nickname "Dr. No" for voting against any bill he believes violates the Constitution; In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Dr. Paul is the "one exception to the Gang of 535" on Capitol Hill.
Check this out:
He's never voted to raise taxes.
He's never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war
NOTE: Paul is the ONLY Rep. candidate to vote against Iraq. Clinton, Biden, Hagel, Edwards, etc. voted for and has since flip flopped like John Kerry...which cost him the 2004 Election.
As if these salient points aren't enough, Ron Paul wants to:
- Bring our troops home from Iraq & end the war
- Secure our borders from terrorism
- Stop illegal immigration & no amnesty for illegal immigrants
- Get rid of the IRS for fairer taxes
- Limit big government in your private affairs & lives
Vote Ron Paul for President in 2008! - Guitarzan, on 10/12/2007, -7/+70He did well tonight (not great though). I forget the exact quote, but he said something along the lines of, "if we remain the police of the world, we will lose liberty." Also that part about trusting the Internet more than the mainstream media was awesome.
- sharpfork, on 10/12/2007, -10/+68Ron Paul seems to be the only true conservative of the bunch.
He also seems to actually put the USA above the GOP unlike most of the others. - Infinite84, on 10/12/2007, -4/+59The truth & effort of good over evil breaks through partisan barriers.
- leftfoot, on 10/12/2007, -7/+61Difference between Ron Paul and the other candidates is, is that Ron Paul actually gives a flying ***** about your freedom.
Ron Paul 08' - luther70, on 10/12/2007, -6/+58Is this a sign of the apocalypse? A positive comment about a Republican on Crooksandliars!
- Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -9/+58Everyone might want to vote on the poll at www.drudgereport.com.
- Diggasaurus, on 10/12/2007, -9/+51Everyone keep in mind that the web is Dr. Paul's only way to keep his name out there on the national debates.
This is the most important time to digg Ron Paul, in the early going. His ideas are strong enough to ride the wave of internet popularity right onto main stream media. Make sure he gets on the next debate.
Vote at drudgereport.com - Guitarzan, on 10/12/2007, -10/+51There is another vote on MSNBC's site, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18436681/ Let's show Dr P. some love. Remember, there are some negative questions too.
- Cutkomp, on 10/12/2007, -8/+49Ron Paul is showing quite well in the MSNBC polls and the Drudge poll, damn impressive.
- argoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38OMG I can't believe that someone actually mentioned on national TV abolish the income tax and then later abolish the Federal Reserve. Someone pinch me, is the 2nd coming here? This surely must be the first time in history. And then notice how everybody back-pedaled when he said to a national ID was a horrible idea. And then when he talked about "original intent", the moderator couldn't even contain himself. It was truly shocking. This is definitely one for the history books. And notice how he was the only one that wasn't butt-kissing and going on about Regan's legacy, he didn't need to, his attitude about freedom spoke for itself. Habius Corpus too.
- Jeffmr1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40I don't know, not so much a debate as a question & answer session catering to the leading candidates. So many extra thirty second 'clarification rounds' were given out to some of the candidates, Ron Paul just got cut off, 'THAT'S TIME CONGRESSMAN!' But other than that, well done Dr. Paul.
- axiomata, on 10/12/2007, -6/+39On MSNBC the results of the MSNBC.com poll was mentioned with Paul leading. To say the least the anchors were surprised and they mentioned how presumably a cheer went out among the Paul supporters.
- Infinite84, on 10/12/2007, -5/+35Actually the takeover of the monetary system by the private Federal Reserve in 1913 is what lead to the Great Depression, & Paul is the only candidate who seeks to abolish it.
- kevin1987, on 10/12/2007, -6/+36He definitely has my vote.
- Guitarzan, on 10/12/2007, -10/+39Sorry for the comment abuse, but the results so far on MSNBC's poll are amazing. Thousands of people are voting Paul to the top along with the big names. Happy Happy Joy Joy.
- Infinite84, on 10/12/2007, -8/+36Support Paul, you need to learn more about the Constitution that's what he sticks with. It's our greatest defense against tyranny & illegal wars.
- j10s, on 10/12/2007, -16/+43I thought the best quote was when he answered if he would like Bill Clinton living in the White house. As everyone expressed that this meant that Hilary would be in office and what policies they did not support he came out and said:
"I am known for not flip-flopping, and I voted to impeach him." (or something like that). - luther70, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Brownback, Tancredo and Huckabee
- fantasticFlan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24The popularity of both these guys gives me great hope that the parties are headed for a collapse and splintering, an event in everyone's best interest except for the maintainers of the status quo.
- SinkToTheBeat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25The only way corporations get that kind of power is when the government gives it to them!
- feelgoodinc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Paul is advocating what this country was founded upon: a weak federal government that would step in when absolutely necessary to protect the states from the threat of invasion and to govern interstate commerce. The rest of the time strong state and local governments would serve the people. What is wrong with that? As government becomes more decentralized, the more effective government can be for the people.
As far as your comment regarding "the spirit of ron paul is what got this nation into the great depression", I would suggest you research the Federal Reserve as Infinite suggested. Paul has slammed the Federal Reserve and this government's monetary policy time and time again: every dollar we print we're borrowing from nations like China and the effective real value of the US dollar is now worth close to 0.04 cents compared to the value of the US dollar in 1910 (not sure if the date is entirely correct) before the Federal Reserve took over. If you truly want a rude awakening into the monetary policy of this country, do the research as well as on people like Philander C. Knox (one of the biggest villains this country has known) who helped bring the glorious income tax system into existence in this country. - DrKevorkian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23I thought Ron did pretty well but was I the only one who thought that Chris Matthews asked the most retarded damn fluff questions. wtf was with that terry schiavo bit
- InetRoadkill, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25Don't write off the fundy candidates so quickly. Recent polls show that close to half the US doesn't believe in evolution. Yes, it's a backward viewpoint for a nation that prides itself in its technology and science, but what can you do?
Ra'men. - Henry1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25Awesome post - now THAT'S what I'm TALKIN' about. Ron Paul is a freakin' Samual Adams type figure risen from the fog of time in order to lead America back towards what it was meant to be. I'm a lifelong Dem, but I've woken up like lots of others have on both sides. Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate.
- painted82, on 10/12/2007, -8/+27You dumb clown.
This is not a republican vs democrat issue. Get your head out of media's ass. This is about politicians who are mere puppets (clinton, obama, guiliani, mccain) vs politicians who truly serve the public (gravel and paul).
You see how media conditioned everything into left vs right issue for ya? Yeah... that's just a tactic to dumb you down. Don't fall for it. Oops, you already did. - WeAreAllGreen, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24Ron Paul:
- 10th-term Congressman, Medical Doctor, Veteran and US Air Force Flight Surgeon
- He is the only Rep. presidential candidate to have voted against the Iraq War; The rest flip flopped.
- He voted against regulating the Internet.
- He has never voted to raise taxes or congressional pay.
Ron Paul wants to:
- Bring our troops home from Iraq & end the war
- Secure our borders from terrorism
- Stop illegal immigration & no amnesty for illegal immigrants
- Limit big government in your private affairs & lives
- Abolish the IRS for fairer taxes for the people.
Vote Ron Paul for President in 2008! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+33I liked his quote--something like, "In my first week in office I'd get rid of the income tax." There are dozens of videos on Google Video that claim the federal income tax is illegal and goes to the shareholders of the federal reserve. Is there any truth to that? If so, I feel robbed.
http://video.google.com/videosearch?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&q=income+tax&sa=N&tab=nv - Frozenpython, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23How can you say no to this guy?
Ron Paul 08 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18You can't bash Bush and Conservatives together, because they're the exact opposite.
- eggloaf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19As an "Eisenhower Republican" (conservative with money, liberal with people), I think Ron Paul is the best candidate for president this year, because of his balance between the two parties. Perhaps he should form the 'common sense' party.
- j10s, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20This is not directly related, but does anyone know who raised their hands when asked if they did not believe in evolution?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18You make it sound like freedom and individuality is a bad thing.
- buff01, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23Go Ron! The MSM is trying to stifle his campaign, but the web is setting it free....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+26Vote for Ron Paul on the follow-up MSNBC poll: http://www.digg.com/2008_us_elections/Vote_for_Ron_Paul_in_an_MSNBC_Poll
- maisis00, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Wow, I was impressed with the old coot. It's got to be one of the few times I have not been ashamed to admit he is a fellow Texan. :)
- Cutkomp, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21Brownback, Tancredo, Huckabee...
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18McCain vs. Clinton. Nation loses.
- Infinite84, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Funny you say all these things about the only non-Zionist candidate who actually DOESN'T think we should go to war for Israel. That would make him the ONLY non-religous nut of the bunch.
- wakananda, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16You are not just anti-american, but an enemy of all free people, a Judas goat. May you find the end you deserve.
- xcbxcb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Dear Rudy:
When you mention NYC, you alienate everyone that's doesn't hold NYC as The Bastion Of Enlightenment In America. And almost every baseball fan.
RonPaul08. - Cyberen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Ron Paul looks like the only good republican on stage there. The rest look like total goons.
- Infinite84, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Um no, he accurately stated that Scooter Libby needs to go to jail & not be pardoned for participating in the disinformation campaign of lies that brought us into the Iraq War. But if you were intelligent you'd realize that his point was that Libby is NOT THE ONLY ONE who should be going to jail over it & that all of his neo-con cronies who were in on the scam should join him. I whole heartedly agree.
- InetRoadkill, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Actually, the Bush family is from Connecticut.
- j10s, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16actually I think it was around three guys, but that is still way to many. I can't believe they didn't go into further detail on that topic.
- Xevec, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14If we truly go back to a time where we strictly followed the constitution...an anarchist libertarian would not be pleased. It's not enough. But it WOULD make drastic changes to our society. It would be better...but not ideal. Even though I am an anarchist libertarian, I am willing to compromise. As long as it is moving towards abolishing the state, that would be great. Hell, I am even for a "voluntary" government...since some people LIKE paying taxes.
But I feel ron paul will NOT get recognized by the mainstream. First off, mainstream isn't even LOOKING at republicans now. It's basically saying "obama will be next president." First off, WTF has he really done? What is so special about him? To me, Obama has looks...and is a great public speaker. He has an excellent voice. I think that is what the mass media is turned on by. That's it. I found it interesting my teacher asked some students what issues Obama stands on. None of the students could answer. Of course, me, and this one other guy..knew EXCATLY what Ron paul(who we both support) stood for. There are many though...that don't. Now, I bet many others think the same thing. But I urge you people, when you go out on the street..and see someone wanting a candidate....ask them what their candidate stands for....see if they REALLY know where he takes position. - danconia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12The GOP has to be kidding me if they think they will win the general election with a Pro-Iraq War stance.
Go Ron Paul! - identifiedlogo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18Christ! Ron Paul for president ....dignnations style. Who the ***** cares about MSM...Election being decided by bloggers...Whatever you do...do not elect Romney and Clinton...
