- Phylter, on 04/29/2009, -5/+33They can blame whomever they want. Doesn't change a thing. Unless America is locked off from the rest of the world (which the nutcases would like, unless it affected THEIR travel), this type of thing will continue.
- Hetman, on 04/29/2009, -9/+36Intellectuals, Liberal elitists, Gay Mafia, Atheists, Moslems, Socialists, Marxists, foreigners, hippies, beatnicks, pro choicers, rationalists, poor americans, etc. They link every problem with some group as long as they do not have to take the blame themselfs.
- scoog, on 04/29/2009, -4/+29To paraphrase from a 1995 movie: They are "interested in two things, and two things only: making you afraid of it, and telling you who's to blame for it."
- novenator, on 04/30/2009, -8/+23The right wing spares little in it's efforts for xenophobia and not-so-subtle racism. It plays well with their base, and despite their hypocrisy in getting $900 million removed from the ARRA for a situation exactly like this, they will try to scapegoat brown people now. Congratulations GOP, you make yourselves more irrelevant every day.
- 0tis, on 04/30/2009, -1/+15The point is, it would happen anyway. The UK has a couple of cases of swine flu - a couple who were on their honeymoon and brought it back with them.
Even if illegal immigrants brought it with them, which I concede is entirely possible, blaming illegal immigration for the spread of swine flu is akin to saying "All Mexicans are dirty and disease-ridden, and THAT'S why we shouldn't let them into our country".
If you want to argue against illegal immigration, find a proper reason. That's all I'm saying. - girlunit, on 04/30/2009, -5/+15Hey, it's a teabagger that can spell! I better capture the screen for future generations. In the meantime add spelling intolerance to teleprompters and birth certificates as the foundation of a party rebirth.
- inactive, on 04/30/2009, -10/+18Sorry....but I need to copy and paste what I just said on another thread here... It will just save me a few minutes by not having to type the same exact thing about the "Racist" Party.
********
I guess it "WE" who are called Americans who were the "first" illegal immigrants who came here... how about many diseases we brought to the native americans? The first "settlers" (AKA: Illegal Immigrants) wiped out a substantial portion of the native american population.
Just remember folks....it's the right wing who defined AIDS as a "gay" disease.
GOP: The "OFFICIAL" party of the Aryan Brotherhood. - Alheithinn, on 04/30/2009, -2/+10Conservative pundits, like the conservative base, are xenophobes, but then there seem to be many phobias in the conservative gene pool - homophobia, is a prominent example. Perfect little white, uneducated and bigoted America - the ONLY America for these people - is being exposed to all sorts of horrible things from without. Sure, you can catch diseases, but unfortunately, you can't catch intelligence, tolerance, Reason, wisdom, and diversity. No, we wouldn't want those to infect your genetic cess-pits, would we?
- Recluse84, on 04/30/2009, -3/+11Im already hearing people talk about some grand conspiracy theory BS on how swine flu was brought to mexico by the U.S. to thin the worlds population. I cant believe how gullible some people can be.
- Alheithinn, on 04/30/2009, -2/+10LOL. Funny guy, EffYoo
- Avaseal, on 04/30/2009, -0/+7For those wondering what movie: "The American President" w/ Michael Douglas
- cryofan, on 04/30/2009, -3/+9But we cannot shut off the flow of cheap labor immigrants because that is how our American Elite lower wages and divide the populace. If our Elite cannot lower wages and divide the populace then how are they going to increase their investment profits and buy more expensive cars and vacation homes?
Won't someone PLEASE think of the Rich? - fugazied, on 04/30/2009, -0/+5Kinda OT, but Australia gets as Xenophobic as the US does. After 911 the level of xenophobia rose dramatically. We had our previous prime minister suggesting that illegal immigrants (aka asylum seekers) coming in on boats were throwing their children overboard to drown (for what purpose I don't know). When the leader of a country is promoting xenophobia by suggesting immigrants don't care about the lives of children, and were therefore unfeeling monsters, you know your country has issues.
We also locked up many of those asylum seekers in detention camps in the desert or on islands off the coast of Australia where women and children were locked up for as long as 4-5 years.
Currently we have had about 350 asylum seekers come in by boats this year and the media is winding up already, suggestions that they may be carrying swine flu will probably start soon from sensationalist media who make content for the scared white middle class.
Seems strange when Australia, like the US was built on the backs of immigrants. - delrin500, on 04/30/2009, -7/+12Fox News and those xenophobic racists who fall for their garbage are a public embarrassment of the US.
- dygel, on 04/30/2009, -1/+5And while that it true, they didn't hop the fence to get here, either.
- biotch, on 04/30/2009, -0/+3hahah and how about a hats off to Michelle Bachman huh?
If ever an inkling of naivete exists in my head that perhaps the Bush era of Americans looking up to a moron as their leader had ended, Bachman is there to continue to bewilder me as to how someone so consistently misguided and devoid of logic can be allowed to navigate our federal government... and then get re-elected.

That's the difference between the base of left and the base of right.
Logic vs superstition. - gordonj, on 04/30/2009, -1/+4The flu cares not for artificial borders or fevered egos inferring themselves to be better than other human beings.
- thinkb4utype, on 04/30/2009, -4/+6Excluding US citizens who traveled to Mexico, who are the people that have the virus?
The media isn't providing any information. - dygel, on 04/30/2009, -1/+3Of course there is that chance. The greater chance, however, is that Americans traveling to Mexico caught the flu and brought it home with them and OH WAIT THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED.
Why do you think the second highest concentration of swine flu in the world presently is New York City? I mean, if you're getting Mexico and Canada confused, I might understand the cognitive dissonance, but that's a pretty boneheaded mistake to make. - rpgmakr, on 04/30/2009, -0/+2Thanks.
- novenator, on 04/30/2009, -7/+9girlunit, very well said. you rock.
- ForumDriv, on 04/30/2009, -1/+3But the opponents of legal immigration are leading the fight against illegal immigration which is teh huge disconnect. If we had legal immigration as an option, this whole series of issues gets resolved. But Hannity, Beck, Malkin, Dobbs, FAIR, NumbersUSA -- the whole lot of them -- are opposed to legal immigration. If we replace illegal immigration which is uncontrolled with legal immigration with visas, vetting, health screenings, and criminal background checks within reasonable numbers tied to the demand from our society, the we have more control. That is what the President is for. That is what Beck, Dobbs, Savage, Malkin, Tancredo, FAIR and the rest are against.
- seanstuart, on 04/30/2009, -4/+6Fox News has mastered the industry of telling people what they want to hear as a means to achieve high ratings.

Such as billybob's family wears strawhats and we wear mesh hats. - inactive, on 04/30/2009, -0/+2Those are actually all true... except I would have added Bush and co. to a few more of those things as well as the talibangelicals. ;-)
- emjaysea, on 04/30/2009, -1/+3There really should be a law defining what "news" is, and then Fox would have to call itself what it really is, entertainment TV, and not news at all.
- gordonj, on 04/30/2009, -1/+3yeah, because legal immigrants are all immune to the flu and only illegal ones can transmit it?
This has nothing to do with whether the flu is being spread by legal or illegal immigrants. Trying to imply that it is the illegal immigrants solely spreading it is clearly an excuse for bigotry. - Velvolver, on 04/30/2009, -1/+2Stop trying to get laid novenator

- Remelox, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Seriously. If we were going to try to thin the world's population, we would start on our own doorstep, regardless of what some people think of Mexicans. Nevermind the fact that air travel quickly removes the advantage of distance, it's only logical to start elsewhere. We have plenty of enemies in the Middle East, rivals for power in Asia and Europe, and enough racism and indifference for Africa. At worst, South America just because a couple people down there annoy us. We might even try to take out Australia before North America if we got all mad scientist with it. North America would be the second to last continent we'd release something in.
- secrity, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Those asylum seekers must have traveled quite a ways in boats to get to Australia. It must have been a difficult voyage
- ForumDriv, on 04/30/2009, -1/+2A new ABC/Washington Post poll finds some really dramatic shifts in Americans views on a range of domestic issues, with support for same-sex marriage up to 49 percent nationally, and support for a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants shooting up to 61 percent.
http://abcnews.go.com/PollingUnit/Obama100days/sto ...
and this:
If there is one constant in the long-running debate over immigration reform, it is that a majority of Americans are very moderate. Poll after poll has confirmed this over the past several years, and I've posted many of them. The latest example is a New York Times/CBS poll. 65 percent of respondents said that illegal immigrants should be given the opportunity either to become guest workers (21%) or to stay and apply for citizenship (44%). And although in the press it is common to hear about conflicts between Latinos and African Americans, 73 percent of the latter believe illegal immigrants should be allowed to remain in the country. http://weeksnotice.blogspot.com/2009/04/new-immigr ... - Pschkqitzsough, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1@Gargon,
I've noticed the biggest things that get dugg down recently on any political correctness article has been the truth... Obama fans are quickly becoming racist against people they THINK are racist (i.e. Republicans). This comes from horribly out of context articles equating illegal aliens with "immigrants".
Pure stupidity, but is becoming the mass of Americans. - Tarl, on 04/30/2009, -1/+2Forcing Native Americans off their land was ok then...
And their were/are lots and lots of "illegal" immagrants in this country that are Irish, German, etc. (even nowadays) and it has been going on for many many many generations. Get a clue. - Pschkqitzsough, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Yes, there have been a lot of rapists around too, does this mean it's acceptable? As long as it's been happening for years it's OK? What dumb logic that is...
Most people have came to the US legally, get a clue... - Pschkqitzsough, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1OH MY GOOODDDDDDDD....
It's like idiot zombies are taking over the country...
I HAVE NEVER EVER HEARD OF ANY PERSON OPPOSED TO LEGAL IMMIGRATION!!!
You act as if it's not even an option which is so SO dumb, when you said, "If we had legal immigration as an option, this whole series of issues gets resolved."
It's like all liberals just all of the sudden have turned into super hatred filled people calling everyone racist and biggots for calling someone black or having a problem with illegal immigration and even lying and saying people are opposed to legal immigration which is so dumb it's beyond words... Yet, this is total ignorance is becoming common place now...
I don't like either party, but liberals seem to be finding hatred, racism, bigotry, etc. in everything any conservative says (if they're anything like the mass of idiots on digg)... Call a black person black and you're racist... Be against ***** ILLEGAL aliens and you're a bigot............... Stupidity will destroy this country soon probably...
People are using racism to fill themselves with hate against people who aren't even racist......
The title of this proves my point. It says they are against immigration, while the video clearly says ILLEGAL immigration you ***** tards! - Pschkqitzsough, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1THe point is no one was talking about legal immigrants you idiot. Therefore, no one was being a bigot, you (and a bunch of other idiots) just would like to think so for some dumb reason...
No one was talking about immigrants is my point you were too dumb to get... - ForumDriv, on 04/30/2009, -1/+2Alas, I do watch Beck to get the talking points being used against immigration. I haven't seen the analysis on him, but the analysis on Dobbs is pretty clear. Over a three-year period ending in 2008, his references to legal immigration programs were negative 95.8% of the time. Even if Beck were 20% better, which I don't think he is, they are still overwhelmingly opposed to legal immigration.
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 04/30/2009, -6/+6The only death in the US so far was not US citizen.
- chesterogilvie, on 04/30/2009, -2/+2If you contend that the original settlers of America brought disease that wiped out the Native population then why is it racist and wrong to postulate that immigrants from Mexico may have done the same thing. I am NOT defending that position but you just validated it.
- shauncorleone, on 04/30/2009, -1/+1Be fair: Olbermann's technically a "moonbat". Use the correct term. As for Velvolver's "logic" argument, I assume it made logical sense to pass a $900 billion spending bill without reading it, then. I know I do all my work without first reading the requirements and contributions from all my peers.
- Pschkqitzsough, on 04/30/2009, -3/+3So you're saying if you believe crossing the border illegally is a bad thing you're a racist?
And people actually agree with you? Wow......
Some people are too dumb to realize legal immigration and illegal aliens are to separate issues....
Your Native American example is irrelevant to the issue at hand. I don't know anyone who was involved in Native American warfare do you? Maybe you should apologize to a black person for slaves as well you slave trader! OMFG some people! - Pschkqitzsough, on 04/30/2009, -8/+8LOL I love how illegal aliens are referred to as "immigrants" now....
NO ONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH **LEGAL** IMMIGRANTS YOU FOOLS......
The "immigration problem" they are referring to is not talking about LEGAL immigrants, but illegal aliens. There IS a difference.
The words ILLEGAL ALIENS were used in the clip numerous times.
The truth usually gets dugg down so lets do this.. - Garjon, on 04/30/2009, -1/+1You've never listened to Beck have you?
I have yet to hear someone opposed to legal immigration. - cbeagle, on 04/30/2009, -1/+1"Racism has nothing to do with it, viruses do not care about race or politics. "
