"Those who live by the whore shall perish by the whore."
Priceless. - totorototoro, on 10/11/2007, -2/+44Hey, as long as he resigns, he's not a hypocrite.
Oh wait, they have a Democratic Governor who would pick a replacement?
*popcorn* - AnalogAssassin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32Vitter's wife also said in 2000 that if she ever caught Vitter having an affair, she would pull a Lorena Bobbitt on him.
She added something about "I'm going after one thing, and it's not alimony" - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+30Another classic "do as I say, not as I do" moment...
- fpcyber, on 10/11/2007, -10/+33Why does it matter if they have sex? Maybe if Bush had an affair the US would not be in war.
Fact: Sex makes men less grumpy. - JCSaint, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23No one said it was a crime. (By the way, you can also see Livingston, Gingrich, Foley (ew), etc.)
I also note that most of the names on list are still being sorted through and if there are Democrats on it, it won't take long for a conservative blog to shout the news from the rooftops. - LilRabbitFooFoo, on 08/11/2008, -2/+21I have been around and I have to tell you, Democrats are FAR BETTER LAYS than Republicans. :)
- bruinexmo, on 10/11/2007, -6/+23Buried for not mentioning the iPhone.
- alricsca, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15The issue is not whether both republicans and democrats used the services of this person. The issue is that a group who have built their party platform on not doing these things are in fact hypocrites. Do I like the fact that a democrat may have seen a prostitute, no. Does it mean the same thing as a republican doing it, no. When a democrat does this, it is a personal issue. When a republican does it is a matter of public discourse because they made it that way. If they do not want people standing in their bedrooms watching who they are sleeping with then maybe they need to change agendas.
- xman00, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15The real message I'm getting from all of these sex scandals is that Democracts get it for free while Republicans have to pay for it, usually because it involves something kinky, young or gay.
- realgoat21, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15karma, bitch
- JCSaint, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15Sonof, If you really think Democrats are on the list (and there probably are some) then go through it and find some. It's public. I'm sure there are opposition researches at the RNC and DNC going through the lists like crazy right now and we'll see more names pop up in the news. You make it sound like every Democrat is on the list but the big bad liberal media is hiding everything.
- ktchpmn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13i sent him an e-mail telling him he should resign because of his affair. i doubt i'll get a response back and i'm probably now added to the do-not-fly list. oh well
- mrn111, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10From www.nbc4.com (local washington news channel):
Seven years ago, Wendy Vitter told Newhouse News Service she could not be as forgiving as Hillary Rodham Clinton or the wife of Republican Congressman Robert Livingston, who admitted to extramarital affairs and quit Congress.
Vitter instead said she was "a lot more like Lorena Bobbitt," who drew worldwide attention after she cut off her husband's penis in 1993. - actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Good point. You should double check their claims. Let me know what you come back with.
- galael, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Here are some marvelously hypocritical statements from Vitter's Senate website:
Vitter Pushes for Reauthorization of Abstinence Education Program:
"We must reauthorize this program so we can continue the incredible strides we have made in teaching teens about both risk avoidance and protecting themselves from potential abuse,” Vitter said. (I wonder if Vitter used a condom and thought about "risk avoidance" while he cheated on his wife with a prostitute?)
Vitter supports covenant marriage law while a rep in Louisiana
(Is adultery with a prostitute grounds for divorce under a covenant marriage?) - dshPls, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13We wont be seeing it from the fair and balanced Fox News though.
- CletusJones, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9I thought paying for sex was a crime? At least Monica was only a slut, not a whore.
- queenstarsha, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9of course he did.
***** hypocrite republicans. - mitrovarr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I think the problem here is that Vitter is a giant flaming hypocrite and a horrible person, not that he had an affair. If Vitter had urged forgiveness for Clinton, or perhaps attacked him on the basis of perjury instead of sex, this would not be an issue. However, he made a huge stink about the affair and then had one himself. He's obviously completely morally or ethically bankrupt.
- JCSaint, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Okay, start by finding a Democrat who said this, "At the time, Vitter argued that an extramarital affair was grounds for President Clinton's resignation." and then go find their phone number. That's what it means to be a hypocrite.
- aaaargh, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Yes, but Vitter suggested that Clinton should resign because of the affair, as Vitter's predecessor had done. He did not use a comparison to a politician who resigned over lying to a jury. “I think Livingston’s stepping down makes a very powerful argument that Clinton should resign as well and move beyond this mess,” he said.
- sassip, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Like Scooter?
- j4son, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6First thing I thought of when I read this headline was that awesome Genesis game, Flashback.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5A Wiki with a password to view it? That's a first.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Um,
He was asking for the President to resign, WHILE getting his Freak on.
Your point is only that once he is CAUGHT he should resign.
Our point of view is that it's nobody else's business.
add the /sarcasm at the end for completeness. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4NEWS FLASH: politicians will say anything and everything to stay in power, more on this story as it develops
- VitriolAndAngst, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Once again, for the "but, but Clinton crowd..."
LOL.
The lawsuit was filed 1 day before the Statute of Limitations ran out. It was only an issue, because they couldn't get Clinton on anything else they investigated him for -- while it seems your Decider is guilty of everything that the cannot get investigations for.
And of course, he was not guilty of Perjury;
1) Civil Trial
2) Assertions were not pertinent to the Assault charge.
3) No evidence of For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge going on -- that was how the judge described sex. Therefore, based upon court instructions, Clinton did not have "sex" with that Woman -- at least not in the legal sense, which is what matters for perjury. Read the Starr Report if you don't believe me. There was no perjury -- just a failed attempt to nail Clinton for something all these hypocrites are doing to our Constitution. - daniel85at, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5From one who lives here: they do
Louisiana probably has the most crooked politicians in the whole country...and there's a ton of them too! - queenstarsha, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5instead of sitting here whining, why don't you go submit a bunch of fox "news" stories about what great christians and heroes republicans are? i bet you'll get a good 3 diggs, minimum.
- bowens44, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4The sex isn't the issue. The hypocrisy is the issue.
- luther70, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5They're as unbiased as someone who uses terms like "Moonbat"
- queenstarsha, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4republicans have to pay for it because of republican women's values. oh yes i did.
- billmccartney, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Can I see a source for this quote?
- queenstarsha, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3a hypocritical republican? never!
- queenstarsha, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4that's christian forgiveness at its best, there. yay, hypocrites!
- lulieb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3So -- the word is that Bush became Born Again after he was sent to an ex-gay ministry -- when do we start looking for the males in the business to see if "the decider's" therapy is still active?
As a gay woman who married by choice and without lying to people, sexual hypocrytes especially piss me off.
Anyone who can give me links to the name of the ministry and its website? I've been told about it over and over again, mostly from Born Agains who think I'm cured, so it can't exactly be a secret.
The story I've heard over and over again is that in the late 70s he went too far, went to a treatment center, was quickly married and set on the right road. Which is probably why he wants an ex-gay surgeon general, http://www.sfbaytimes.com/?sec=article&article_id=6481 and I wouldn't be surprised if that's the same organisation that the Born Agains who find out about my choice referred to.
I'm rather bummed that no one's mentioned this connection in about a year, wish I could remember the name.
lulieb - queenstarsha, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3there are none, so why would they? the three i know of were all republicans.
what are the odds fox news has covered this story and not "accidentally" called vitter a democrat? - actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I'm right here with you, daniel. He and Jefferson should both resign.
- patrix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Politico.com article top half
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0707/4850.html - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Naturally, hookers don't count......
- evilregis, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3At least the other party was of legal age. As far as Republicans go, he could've done a whole lot worse.
- Strooperman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Vitter has admitted to "wrongdoing" in the past.
- chlsmith, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4keep on believin' that one.....
- queenstarsha, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3eww. you slept with a republican? did she pay you?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Another Republican hypocrite exposed!!! Next thing you'll see are Republicans claiming that there's nothing wrong with having extramarital affairs.
- Leviathan777, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Mark Foley. Ted Haggard. Jimmy Swaggart. James Baaker. Catholic priests. More strip clubs and prostitution in "religious" "red states". The list is endless.
You + Logic = FAIL.
BTW, there was one insult our Lord and Saviour was particularly fond of. It wasn't whore. It wasn't adulterer. It was... dum dum dum! Hypocrite!
Get right with Jesus. It's not too late for you. - bjornski, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Moonbat? Did you come here from FreeRepublic or LittleGreenFootballs?
Yeah, THEY'LL cover this story. Right. - Corvidae, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2In many if not most states the only grounds for divorce is "Irreconsilable differences".
Adultery might have some serious reprecusions when it comes to who gets what. Many judges pretty much decide the adulterer walks away with next to nothing. - kreneskyp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1not a crime but republicans are the party that ran on a platform of morals and time and time again prove they dont practice what they preach
