2) we're still in iraq, right? congress is still giving the idiot-in-chief money for this, right?
3) do you feel safer? no, but thanks to congress, at least i know the fbi will be allowed to read my email and listen to my phone calls.
4) i just paid $50 for a tank of gas for my civic
5) canada's money is worth more than ours
i can keep going, but i'm going to start crying soon. - kemp34, on 07/08/2008, -0/+22Because they are all either useful idiots or wholly corrupt clowns. It is good to know that big government, big war, big state, anti-Constitution BS is still nearly universally hated by the American people. We need to THROW ALL BUMS OUT.
- Solutionary, on 07/09/2008, -2/+15If you ask me, which I know nobody did, WE ARE INSANE if we allow any of the lying, traitorous s.o.b.s to remain in office! We have one direct power over our government, the power to hire and fire. If we wanted to, we could vote every incumbent out of office, just like that! All we have to do is stop being sucked into the false left/right paradigm and just vote for whoever the incumbents strongest opponent is to make sure the incumbent looses. It's that simple.
So we have a simple choice. We continue to vote for this scum because of idiotic party loyalties or we do what we should have done a long time ago, vote all the bums out! Even if we end up with a Congress filled with more idiots, at least they will not be part of the finely tuned corruption machine. It will at least throw a wrench in the works and slow things down to buy us some more time. And if we fire Congress, the new Congress will have to deal with something no Congress in our history has ever had to deal with. They will KNOW we just fired everyone that came before them. They will know we are sick of it and we are not going to put up with it anymore.
Join the revolution at http://www.FireCongress.org and let's just DO IT!! - marshallds, on 07/09/2008, -0/+12We don't need five reasons. The ONE reason is simple: Name one thing that Pelosi's congress has done in the last year and a half that benifited you at all. Name one time that the Republicans stood up and made a stand for anything that made a difference.
Nope... can't think of a thing this congress has done. Not that there hasn't been important things to do. No, they let the problems we face get worse though inaction. They don't even attempt to solve it. They no longer debate what the best course of action is. There is no rational exchange of ideas. They just try to make the other guy look worse.
So. Are you going to re-elect the Democrats (who are still the majority party though you might not notice)? Will you re-elect the lilly livered Republicans who care about nothing else than keeping their jobs?
*sigh* I guess so... they're all we've got apparently. - planet87, on 07/08/2008, -3/+13Dugg. But #2 should be replaced by a more general #1. No coherent energy plan. I'm sure 80% of the population never heard about cap and trade or know what the f&** it is.
Actually a lot of these are pretty lame. Probably shouldn't have dugg it but anything that can be used to criticize the left is diggable. - StarWarsFan, on 07/08/2008, -2/+11Don't forget oil lobbyists.
- RuffRidr, on 07/08/2008, -1/+9Most of the drop in approval ratings has come since 2006 when we elected the "most ethical congress ever".

- Khanvalescent, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6What's usually interesting about these polls is that everybody tends to distrust congress as a whole, yet conversely approve of their specific representatives.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5I guess we'll have to start recalling all of them. They're not doing their jobs, so let's get them out of there now!
- diamondbigdog, on 07/08/2008, -10/+15The question is how long has the left held power out of the last 50 years? The left in America is responsible for the downfall and immoral behavior. They advocate murdering children in the womb, free everything and high taxes.
Liberals are idiots. - theNazz, on 07/09/2008, -1/+6Haliburton stock holders.
- displacednomad, on 07/08/2008, -8/+13There are currently bills in the House for impeaching the President and Vice President. Of the United States.
Impeachment articles are on the table. For Crying Out Loud! Congress has no balls, no cajones, nothing.
Clinton was impeached for perjury. These guys are getting away with 100x more. Congress has a 0% rating as far as I'm concerned.
And yes, I am going to write more letters to my NE Reps (Fortenberry, Terry, and Smith) to let them know I am paying attention. - Rivsys, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5The main reason Congress has such low numbers has to do with lack of accountability. Most Representatives and Senators get elected essentially for life. If their jobs are not threatened they feel they can anything. But when do enact legislation it is done to benefit the special interests whom pay for their reelections. Additionally, the Congress conducts their business without being scrutinized by the press. Rarely do we hear about legislation until the bill is about to be voted on or has already been passed by Congress.

Yours is one of the few posts on Digg that actually proposes an honest discussion. Congrats.
In my humble opinion:
1) An impeachment has to begin with specific charges accompanied by evidence. That has not happened. If there were any provable charges, the press and the Congress would go crazy drafting articles of impeachment. So far, nothing.
2) First of all, Saddam was a threat to every country in the area. He showed that by attacking Kuwait, Iran, and threatening Saudi Arabia. He was also one of the worst psychopaths in history. His killing and torture is legendary. Had he been allowed to destabilize the oil producing countries, you can bet that oil prices would also destabilize (more than now) and world economies would suffer greatly. If Iraq can hold together as a democracy, the free world will have a stable anchor right in the middle of the most volatile region in the world. If this works, the free world will thank George Bush for many years to come. As usual, the U.S. does the heavy lifting for other folk's benefit since no other country can or will do it.
3)The entire non-Muslim world is under relentless attack, for religious reasons, by radical Islam. This is all about killing the infidels (that includes us) wherever they can be found. Afghanistan was home for militant Muslim terrorists until we kicked them out. They then moved on to Iraq in hopes of establishing a new stronghold. Now they have lost that battle and are restricted to areas of Pakistan and, increasingly, East Africa. So long as they are being hunted down and killed, they cannot put together embassy bombings, 9/11 type attacks, or anything other than scattered suicide bombings. We are much less likely to be harmed by a terrorist attack today than yesterday and tomorrow even less -- unless we fold under political pressure from the left.
4) Gas prices are a symptom of a generally flawed energy policy. The opponents of developing energy sources are primarily the left wing Democrats representing a coalition of ecologists, not in my backyard, alternative energy, and other special interests that have in fact been successful in stopping any significant attempt to use available energy sources. Clinton vetoed ANWR drilling. It is impossible to get permits for nuclear plants, off shore drilling, coal gassification plants, refineries, transmission lines, clean coal generation plants, and even large wind and solar installations (just ask California). Of course some Republicans have joined the folly, but this is fundamentally a Democrat led effort. Just listen to their leaders on TV today -- obstructionists to the end! The rest of the world thinks we are truly nuts.
This represents my thoughts on these issues. I'll bet they will be greeted by a few Digg well-reasoned "You are a ***** idiot" responses. No matter. - Marsharks, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4You can kick them all out. Go here http://KickThemAllOut.com
- Marsharks, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Fire them all! http://KickThemAllOut.com is the place to read about the project
- oldhick, on 07/09/2008, -4/+7Andysan, back some of your claims up. I like to see some dialog on Digg and anything other than the daily "impeach bush" jibber jabber (that I'm as guilty of as the next guy) is refreshing. But you dropped the ball just when you got started...
1.) Reasons to impeach Bush... You say there aren't any, but I think their are some. The Presidential oath says "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." I would argue that knowingly violating that oath by violating the 1st, 4th, and 14th amendments might constitute a high crime or misdemeanor. Many others agree.
Here we could actually debate this point but you claim it simply doesn't exist...
2.) Its good we are in Iraq. Why? The American lives lost and the cost to our economy as well as the stirring up of anti-American sentiment around the world is beneficial to us how?
3.) Of course we are safer. Again, I disagree. How do you define safer? Are you less likely to die or be harmed today than yesterday? How do you prove that or even argue it?
4.) Gas is outrageous because Dems stopped energy development. This is a factually incorrect statement in two parts. First, Dems didn't stop energy development. I hate Dems as much as Neocons, and I hate defending them so you're pissing me off by forcing me to do this... Dems have killed oil development (refining and local drilling). That is not ENERGY development. Some dems have been leading proponents of alternative energy development such as wind... Second, drilling in the US and developing our own oil resources is a fantastic idea and should be pursued. However, its impossible to say what impact doing this earlier would have on current prices....
Give us something to work with and we can have some good debates on Digg. - Marsharks, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Plenty of people, watch what happens this November! Unless, some of you join http://FireCongress.meetup.com and start educating the masses about how to fire them!
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3It doesn't matter whether there is a "D" or an "R" next to the name. Many in Congress do not represent the best interest of the U.S. nation or its citizens. Instead they are either knowingly or unknowingly selling out U.S. sovereignty and wealth to the rest of the world while only concerning themselves with how they can line their own pockets or remain in office.
Congress does not want to make the right or tough decisions. Instead and for a number of years now it has been abdicating its responsibilities and giving away its power.
The best and the brightest are not in U.S. government. - motivatedmama, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Here's a good place to start!

It doesn't matter which of the "front runners" win... because they are both the same. The only way to make a difference is to get the incumbents out and VOTE THIRD PARTY.
- Hangly, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2Careful there kemp34. I'm sure the current administration would love nothing more than to dissolve congress.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2Bailouts only add to the money supply and thereby further lower the value of the US$.
- JeffDaiell, on 07/09/2008, -1/+3It should be obvious by now that electing more Beltway Ds and Rs will only make things worse. Only Libertarians, Paulista Ds, and Paulista Rs should get the votes on anyone favoring small/limited government. -- Jeff Daiell www.JeffDaiell.com

5) So do something aboot it. - radiofrequency, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2I don't approve of my representatives. California has become a ***** state because of its democratic leadership and its girly man "republican" of a governator.

Time to eject "Exxon Eddie" Whitfield! Spread the word! And remember to Ditch Mitch McConnell too! - Marsharks, on 07/09/2008, -1/+2That won't solve anything. If you vote them all out every year until they start to behave, we give them term limits ourselves. Check out http://KickthemAllout.com
- mystcnurse, on 07/09/2008, -2/+3yeah, it's better to wait until they grow up without fathers, in poverty, and severe psychological problems - and mothers who would have aborted them if they could have, and then murder them on death row. Or put them in the military.
- Marsharks, on 07/09/2008, -1/+2They are all bad, left, right, middle. It doesn't matter. Fire them all! http://FireCongress.org
- Marsharks, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1You can't recall them. You can only not vote for them come November. There is a project for this already, please go here: http://FireCongress.org http://KickThemAllOut.com and http://FireCongress.meetup.com
- kemp34, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Oh man, this whole situation sucks.
- Marsharks, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1You cannot recall them. Congress controls their own membership, except at election time. You can help replace the current congress by visiting these sites: http://FireCongress.org http://KickThemAllOut.com and http://FireCongress.meetup.com
- BitterrootBob, on 07/09/2008, -1/+2I am voting for the challenger in every race I can regardless of political affiliation. And for President, I won't be voting for Obama or McCain.
NO MORE INCUMBENTS!!! - kavutu, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1We have the finest congress since the founding of our great nation!! Re-elect them all i say!! NOT!!
- mystcnurse, on 07/09/2008, -2/+1the LEFT? This is about Congress. And they all suck. I don't know if you have noticed or not, but they don't act any differently.
- Hangly, on 07/09/2008, -2/+1There's a coherent energy plan. It's called "steal all of it."
- Andysan, on 07/09/2008, -12/+10Let's see now:
1) There are no reasons to impeach Bush or Congress would have been all over it.
2) It's a damn good thing we are in Iraq and WINNING.
3) Of course we are safer. And nobody cares what you put in emails.
4) Gas is outrageous because the Dems stopped all energy development.
5) Canada's money situation probably means we can sell more stuff to them.
It is easy to see why you are crying -- you don't know what the hell you are talking about. - motivatedmama, on 07/08/2008, -5/+3How long has the "left" held the majority out of the past 8 years?
- motivatedmama, on 07/09/2008, -7/+4While the "right" advocate murdering everyone else.
May "God" save us all from such hypocritical moral behavior. - mystcnurse, on 07/09/2008, -5/+2what stuff? and what are we winning? And, what are we safer from? And what are you talking about, Dems???? They haven't had any power in years until now. You must be a Fox News watcher who 1.) thinks there is a difference between the two parties, and 2.) thinks that anyone in congress cares what you think (even if you do think you are on their side).
