- matrixbandit, on 04/27/2009, -0/+6Tens of billions of our taxpayer dollars went toward bailing out Bank of America, and yet CEO Ken Lewis has continued with corrupt business as usual, failing to show any signs that he realizes that he is accountable to us, the American taxpayer. He had his chance to turn the ship around and now the time has come to make an example out of him.
- macdoodle, on 04/27/2009, -0/+5PLEASE STOP ISSUING CREDIT CARDS WITH NO CREDIT ATTACHED. IT'S A SCAM TO COLLECT FEES.
ATM CARDS SHOULD DENY PURCHASE IF THERE IS NO MONEY in the account.
ATMS SHOULD SHOW current balances with pending charges - now only available on internet or the account managers.
not even window clerks have accurate account information. with pending charges shown.
many poor and disabled (didn't ask for a phoney credit card but an atm they can use everywhere)
They see they have money and take cash or spend it when they do not!
THIS IS WRONG. - lsudol, on 04/28/2009, -0/+4I don't understand how there is only 77 diggs and only 7 comments. It seems like people are okay with getting robbed.
- eclectro, on 04/28/2009, -0/+4You would think that with Bank of America getting money from the fed at essentially 0% interest, they could give the taxpayer who enabled them to continue receiving bonuses and stay in business a reduced rate on their 25% interest credit cards. But no, they decide to surprise customers with a jacked up rate of 30%.. Not to mention all the fees. What is wrong with this picture? I think I am all for socializing/nationalizing BOA if it meant a reduced rate. Or put them out of business like the should have done in the first place. And furthermore, why isn't anybody in jail yet?
- owenw218, on 04/28/2009, -0/+4He should be fired, no doubt about it
- sereusx, on 04/28/2009, -0/+3If I didn't manage my money, I would get no more credit. Who would just hand me a big bonus? Not our government that's for sure. How can he rationalize getting huge sums of money that most people could live comfortably on for the rest of their lives in just two years? I'm pretty sure that his work schedule is no more than the average joe and his body requires sleep and food and such. What makes him worth such entitlement for such shoddy work? Fire the guy and call in the janitor...would probably do a better job!
- owenw218, on 04/28/2009, -0/+2Watch the episode of the Daily show where they go to Sweeden, a socialist country that is prospering in these times. If you watch that and still are against it, then you can complain.
- SemiSarcastic, on 04/29/2009, -0/+2Can't we just solve these problems the old fashion way by taking out guns and shooting each other?
- owenw218, on 04/28/2009, -0/+2I don't understand either, this is one of the few stories I actually care to be dugg. If you watch the You tube video though, it has quite a few views. At least it is reaching people through you tube.
- dvlasman, on 04/28/2009, -0/+2... and when you fire him make sure he does not get a golden parachute!!!
- daninspokane, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1I like how everyone is up in arms about CEO's getting huge bonuses and wasting taxpayer money, but for some reason no one is up in arms about Congress and the current administration passing the bill to give them the money.
Hilarious - inactive, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1I use BoA, and while I would like to stop, I seem to have a 5k credit card with them that I'm kind of working on paying off, but not too vigorously since I'm not sure how much longer I'll be employed. And regarding balance transfers elsewhere, I recently tried that with Discover. The card HAD 8k on it, and Discover's site was all LOL approved, when I put in for an 8k transfer. But, turns out they only approved me for 3k, so they transferred 3k to the card so it is at its limit. And, I just got a notice in the mail that my balance is somehow $3,325. So, apparently they've already charged me fees and interest and whatever else to put me over my credit limit before even receiving a bill... the thing I got in the mail was sort of a welcome/hey btw this is what you owe notice. No official bill yet, but I'm probably already sitting on a 29.99% APR now due to the over-limit.
IMO, if you apply for a balance transfer and you are approved for an account with a limit of less than what you requested, you should be notified UP FRONT, and also given the option to transfer less or nothing at all. It's ***** that they would issue a card already over its max limit without even seeing a bill yet.
***** banks. ***** them all. And, I guess FML too while I'm at it. - owenw218, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1Your spelling is horrible, I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or arguing against me. I'm saying we shouldn't be so quick to shoot down socialism because it does work. And next time you try to tell someone they are stupid, you could take 10 seconds and proof read so that your grammar isn't so bad.
- daninspokane, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1Tea Parties != Bailout protest.
"On April 15th, hundreds of thousands of citizens gathered in more than 800 cities to voice their opposition to out of control spending at all levels of government. Organized in all 50 states by Americans from all walks of life, these "tea parties" were a true grassroots protest of irresponsible fiscal policies and intrusive government. TaxDayTeaParty.com was the home of these protests, and will continue to be an online gathering place for a new generation of grassroots activists who are committed to effecting positive change in their communities."
CEO's are being used as scapegoats. The REAL issue is and always has been the Obama administration and Congress pushing the bill through instead of letting the companies fail like they should have. We are whining about how "our" money is being used when we sat by and let it happen. We are whining because CEO's are just getting richer off taxpayers, yet how is that their fault? Honestly...? If you give a junkie cocaine, he will snort it. "Here have 50 billion dollars... but don't go spending it on yourselves now you silly Executives." Give me a break.
Another point I want to make. At what point is "our money" still "ours." Where is the line drawn? Do you people not see the government is out of control? Do you REALLY want them to have the power to tell you how much money you can make? At what point does it trickle down to the common man? It's a slippery slope and it's only going to get worse. - wallisp, on 04/28/2009, -0/+1Fire the CEO, absolutely, but a lot of the problems with what going on is with their marketing departments, and hot shot MBA they hired to come up with all this distorted corruption. They need to be fired/investigated also. Remember, Arthur Anderson relationship with ENRON!. Suspect, the banks hired some of these toxic accountants. Ex AA employees stay in touch with each other through a directory that is published for their members. Marketing VP for thhe banks all need to go flip a few burgers, for a reality check.
- inactive, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1Um, see Tea Parties
- inactive, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1I think he was agreeing with you regarding Sweden... But the last 2 sentences kind of came out of left field and provided solid evidence of his ignorance of the English language.
- Grimee, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1Not to defend BoA. But Paulson gave them no choice in taking the fed money. So, why are we so mad at the banks? We should be furious with our stupid ass government for handing them free money with no strings attached.
- BuckTurgisson, on 06/05/2009, -0/+0CEO Ken Lewis behaves the way he does because our legislators are in his pocket. We have no healthcare because our legislators are in the pockets of the insurance companies and Big Pharma. We are at war all the time because our legislators are in the pockets of the MMWI (Military-Media-Wall St-Industrial complex). We have no jobs because Wall Street makes more money investing in China and India. Campaign Finance Reform is the number one thing we need to do to before changing everything so that our government reflects a democracy instead of an oligarchy.
- wallisp, on 04/28/2009, -0/+0Ever known anyone from Sweden? The system is loved, because IT WORDS. there form of socialism is also very close to democracy. Paid education, paid health, guaranteed jobs, retirement, paid vacations, etc. Yes, its expensive, you pay 80% of your income into the system. Don't you end up actually paying the same, if you want that kind of very high quality of life? But it works, and if you lived there, you would love the great life you have.
I suspect you think using the word SOCIALISM make you feel smart. Also suspect you voted with the last admin. which sold off America to a communist country....ummmmmm - ChinaLumberjack, on 04/29/2009, -2/+0Burn him! He's a witch!
