A similar incident happenned back during the Clinton era. Some obscure right-wing rag published a "humor" piece about high-school students being ordered to write an essay, "Why I'm Ashamed To Be White". Limbaugh took the story and repeated it on his show as entirely real - an example of how Clinton was putting "liberals" in charge.
The major news services picked it up (this was before Limbaugh had his "flaming Nazi gasbag" reputation), and it showed up in newspapers even here in Canada.

I don't know if you are bringing it up again just because you know it is a joke, or if you are actually so thick that you actually believe that people think it is real. Looking at your comment history I fear the latter. If you think people actually believe GLENN BECK RAPED AND MURDERED A GIRL IN 1990, then you need to take a serious look at your view of reality, sociological interactions, and where you get your information, because all play a role in your ability to recognize that this has been a joke all along. (All caps is normally a sign of it being a joke, especially if more than one person does it.)
Birthers kept pressing that Obama wasn't born in the US, digging up fake data and misinformation that proved nothing because none of them actually knew what they were talking about. The beck thing on the other hand, no one has attempted to digg up facts about it. It is purely just a joke, and no one in their right might would even think people are serious about this other than maybe the first day that the satire was released.
