- nahsrocketeer75, on 06/25/2009, -6/+127I was hoping somebody would assemble this list today. So is FOX incompetent or irresponsible? There's nothing to say the two are mutually exclusive.
- Hillsfar, on 06/26/2009, -2/+87Fox has absolutely no journalistic or moral integrity.
Whenever some Republican politician is in some scandal or is doing something Fox considers "wrong", chances are he's being labeled a Democrat. - avataros, on 06/25/2009, -7/+78"Sir! Sir! Another sex scandal, sir!"
"Alright, he's a democrat today. Start drafting an apology just in case we're wrong"
"Yes, sir. Mislead first, verify later. I understand, sir" - Ragarnok, on 06/26/2009, -4/+74Yeah because we need to ask Obama if he is muslim, because you know he is named houssein and that is important
- thedsack, on 06/25/2009, -6/+70No one ***** the news like Fux news!
- ldailey06, on 06/26/2009, -6/+57^ feigned outrage
- mikecalios, on 06/26/2009, -1/+40Don't forget - we need to see his birth certificate too.
- lanemik, on 06/26/2009, -5/+39Saying Fox News has the best ratings is like saying that out of 5 incredibly stupid people, one of them is the smartest. Any cable news source, Fox News included, gets a fraction of the ratings of a traditional news outlet. So if you're going to make some kind of ridiculous argument based on ratings, it should go something like this: Cable news gets such terrible ratings, why bother watching it at all?
Oh and I'm all for news outlets not trying to portray our leaders as Gods. That, exactly that, is what turned my off from Fox News in the first place. Fox news was the channel you turned to if you needed some reassurance that George W. Bush could, in fact, do no wrong.
But what I am similarly detested by is news outlets that feel the need to demonize people to further the news outlet's political agenda. It isn't so much that I hate Fox News because they're not fawning all over Obama (which I contest, neither are the other stations), I hate them because they're going out of their way to try to tear him (and anything more liberal than, say, Dick Cheney for that matter) down.
I hate Fox's bias and that they can pull the wool over your ilk's eyes and have you eating from the fetid trough of rancid ***** and asking for more. - FreddieD, on 06/26/2009, -1/+34You guys bash on Fox News, but that is the only news source that told me what kind of mustard Obama uses on his sandwiches. You aren't going to see that kind of journalism on the rest of the hippie left mainstream media.
- DangerCollie, on 06/26/2009, -3/+34Fox News is a right wing tabloid, not a legitimate media outlet. The question is what to do about it? The Fairness Doctrine would help, our media was a lot more social when that was in effect. But I'm not sure it would make any difference in the online age.
How do we hit back at Faux News? - inactive, on 06/26/2009, -5/+31Come on, I gotta know his affiliation so I know whether to condemn or defend his actions! I don't want to start off the wrong way and have to sit this *****-fest out or be a hypocrite.
- moviedemocracy, on 06/26/2009, -3/+28I smell Fox News employee
- inactive, on 06/26/2009, -1/+25Fox News has high ratings because there are millions of stupid, gullible people like you watching their tripe. Ratings does not equal quality, dumbass.
Sanford's apology was contrite? Excuse me while I get out the world's tiniest violin from my pocket and play a few bars for the adulterer. I'm REALLY sure that when Clinton got caught, you were extolling his "contriteness", hypocrite.
And the other networks don't treat Obama like a god. You'd know that if you actually watched any of them besides Faux News. Keith Olbermann, Jon Stewart, Rachel Maddow, all of those supposed liberal goose-stepping robots have had a lot of problems with Obama. They're not mindless followers. All 3 of them are furious at Obama over the gay marriage thing, they're lukewarm at best with how he's handled the bailout. They actually think for themselves. The only sheep are you and the rest of the rednecks who believe whatever lie Rush, that monkey Sean Hannity, O'Lielly and the rest of the partisan hacks at Fox spew out. - rocknog, on 06/26/2009, -1/+23All criticism is not the same. Mindless Obama-bashing isn't the same as asking serious questions. You apparently can't see the difference. I personally very much agree that someone needs to be out there holding Obama accountable for his actions, but Fox News is a ***** joke. It's just ***** pathetic that conservatives overlook the lack of substance on Fox News simply because they repeat the mantra "Obama is evil." And this is not to defend the other networks. You've got MSNBC doing the same thing for liberals, and you've got CNN who's basically become the Twitter network. But the fact that you can't see that Fox News has absolutely zero substance is disturbing.
- Kakumeikeahi, on 06/25/2009, -1/+22I wouldn't say they are incompetent. They have a frightening number of sheeple ready, willing, and eager to listen to everything they have to broadcast. With that large of a audience I'd imagine you would need to constantly work to keep them in your control. Likely requires more then a little competency.
I would however say they are irresponsible, being directly biased (or untruthful) when your a news agency is a big no-no. I doubt they care about anything but expressing a spin to their own political agenda.. maybe put in some current events in the spare air time.. - magamiako, on 06/26/2009, -1/+20It's intentional, everyone knows it is. And it's probably something that they won't admit to, either.
- FreddieD, on 06/26/2009, -1/+20Without Fox News, The Daily Show writers would have a much tougher job ahead of them.
- FreddieD, on 06/26/2009, -0/+18MSNBC is definitely the left-most mainstream media outlet, but nothing compares to what Fox does to the right. MSNBC at least has a few conservatives on their show (Scarborough, Pat Buchanan) while Fox has absolutely none. They used to have one in Alan Colmes, but all he ever did was play the Washington Generals to Hannity's Globetrotters.
- malex, on 06/26/2009, -0/+17Let's be specific here: Fox is the only news agency unafraid to cover what kind of ELITIST mustard Barack Hoosain Obama uses.
- cobophers, on 06/26/2009, -1/+18It's these details that make it hard to believe It's these details that make it hard to believe Fox news is run by grown ups.
- DankBuddz, on 06/26/2009, -4/+21"Fox News isn't because they are habitually doing anything wrong. Maybe the TV audience is growing weary of the MSM treating Barry as Sort of God and want some realistic news coverage of his administration."
MSM? Fox News is THE DEFINITION of MSM.
Come back to reality please. Come on, you can do it. - surfergirlsc, on 06/26/2009, -0/+16Show me another news channel that has made that mistake half as many times as Faux and I might believe it is accidental. Till then the only reason I tune in to Fox is for Family Guy.
- Vaiper, on 06/26/2009, -0/+16I get all my news from The Daily Show.
- rocknog, on 06/26/2009, -0/+16@FreddieD
Crap, I forgot about that. They were even kind enough to show me a video demonstrating how elitist the use of dijon mustard really is. Since I'm just a regular working guy who'd never heard of dijon, I wouldn't have known to be outraged if it weren't for their brave coverage and hard-hitting stories. - FreddieD, on 06/26/2009, -1/+16Jerry Springer was beating Oprah in the ratings for quite some time. In today's world, the shows that get the best ratings are reality shows where train-wreck-inducing parents have a litter of kids.
When defending Fox News in the future, I really wouldn't include ratings as a talking point. - MacEnvy, on 06/26/2009, -2/+17I think someone would have batted an eye if they did it 5 more times to 5 additional scandalized Democrats.
Oh yeah, and someone did bat an eye - the right-wing flipped the ***** out, WHICH IS HOW YOU KNOW ABOUT IT.
In conclusion, "but someone else did it too!" is not a valid defense. - xack10, on 06/26/2009, -2/+16MSNBC doesnt lie to the public 24/7
- RooC10, on 06/26/2009, -1/+15It raises a lot of questions. Who would be in charge of supervising things like this? Is it somewhat of a policy, or tradition I guess. Or is it just a hardcore employee.
- Akairenn, on 06/26/2009, -2/+16Simple. Improve the education and health care systems in our country.
Without mental midgets and the clinically insane, Fox news would have no audience. - inajeep, on 06/26/2009, -2/+15They get the ratings due to the flashy colors and shiny people they employ.
- snagglefoof, on 06/26/2009, -2/+15Sounds like Fox News to me. Nothing new, sadly...
- WasabiBomb, on 06/26/2009, -2/+14I'm sorry, I must have missed it when CNN, ABC, CBS, and "other liberal media sources" habitually referred to Obama as God.
The only people I ever heard refer to Obama as "God" or "The Messiah" were the ones on the Right. We never said he was perfect, we just said he was better than YOUR guy. - WasabiBomb, on 06/26/2009, -2/+14Frankly, I think it's frightening that you think that dishonest and irresponsible reporting is "hilarious".
- Paranor01, on 06/26/2009, -3/+15Looks like they are trying to label all the "bad" republicans as democrats to put a bad light on democrats so their brain-washed flock will see the 'D' and go "see! another democrat being bad". Faux News... since they call themselves news, shouldn't they be fined for making up stories, misrepresentation, etc? are there not laws against this from a "news" organization ?
- WasabiBomb, on 06/26/2009, -2/+13So your argument is that they're not malicious, just incompetent?
Saying that swapping an R with a D (multiple times) is just a simple typo allows them to get across the message that Democrats do bad things, but still allows them to keep plausible deniability. You're the target audience who is supposed to buy it. Congrats. - inactive, on 06/26/2009, -1/+12Well when "typo" equals an outright lie then yeah you might expect people to be a little concerned.
Did an alleged "176 documented lies" equal the murder of 4000 American soldiers? Until then go cry yourself to sleep quietly elsewhere. - frygar, on 06/26/2009, -2/+13CNN's popularity hasn't dropped quite like that of the republican party. You lost, deal with it. Your party is imploding, and not nearly fast enough.
- moviedemocracy, on 06/26/2009, -1/+11All the more reason to get that affiliation correct - there are people who think that way
- Enyulan, on 06/26/2009, -0/+10+1 cool point for Family Guy reference
-2 cool points for using it wrong
+1 punch in face for saying fox is charming - brucealmighty, on 06/26/2009, -2/+12Get your news from Fox and avoid the annoyance of all those pesky facts....!
- vertinox, on 06/26/2009, -1/+11Most people have a hard time naming who is their own senator or governor much less another states so when someone sees it on fox mislabeled they'll think its another democrat and then forget the name of the person.
- 8FoldPath, on 06/26/2009, -1/+11[citation needed]
- Dustin00, on 06/26/2009, -2/+12Unless you compare them to all the other TV stations combined.
Even throw in the little local stations that are able to execute basic fact checking. - bowens44, on 06/26/2009, -1/+11another fox news ditto boy jumps up and shows the world that he's an idiot....
well done! - DankBuddz, on 06/26/2009, -0/+9@gpageau
“I think it would be much better for the country and for him personally (to resign). I come from the business side. If you had a chairman or president in the business world facing these allegations, he’d be gone.” [Sanford on Clinton, The Post and Courier, 9/12/98]
Sanford was most offended that Clinton lied to his wife.
"The bottom line, though, is he still lied. He lied under a different oath, and that is the oath to his wife. So it’s got to be taken very, very seriously.” [Sanford on Livingston, CNN, 12/18/98]
Its obvious that Sanford criticized Clinton regardless of whether or not he lied under oath. If we're going to compare apples to apples, you might as well break it down. - orlandogeek, on 06/27/2009, -1/+10Ratings != Factual reporting
Ratings != Intelligence
In point of fact, the high ratings are part of the problem. It means that there are a higher number of people who will be fooled by these deceptive "typos". - pgoetz, on 06/26/2009, -1/+10Yep, we made a mistake -- in 2000 AND in 2004. But you still don't get it. Sad, very, very sad.
- strykefive, on 06/26/2009, -2/+11What a sham of a news channel.
- FordSVT1, on 06/26/2009, -0/+9Did you actually call him a "sex pervert", you ***** puritan asswipe? lol
- Moralogic, on 06/26/2009, -0/+8There is a problem with ignoring them. Dumbasses still watch Fox News as if it is the word of God, and is absolutely correct in everything they report. These Diggers keep an eye on it to try to educate the ignorant of what real news is. Then those ignorant people act like we are attacking Fox and defending CNN, MSNBC,NBC, ABC, and so on, when we all they are screwed up too, but Fox is out of hand, and causing issues within society because of the crap they say.
