- SaintStryfe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+25Cheney is a dinosaur - a left over remnant of a time when men in smoky rooms decided fates of nations. May his kind rot.
- speede06, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18You know it's getting bad when Fox News has the courage to discuss actual news events on air.
- noahhoward, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18Is there really anyone left that believes Bush is running the show?
- fack0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12Any kid who's passed fifth grade knows the VP is part of the executive branch.
- xenuxenuts, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Too bad the majority of Americans aren't smarter than a fifth grader.
- gruvsf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I guess since Cheney's not part of the executive branch, then he can't hide behind executive privilege anymore and have to show us who showed up to those Energy meetings that no one seems to know.
- evilregis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Bush.
- hamandcheese, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Cheney's an egocentric ignoramus, much like a less obscene, equally idiotic Eric Cartman.
- singlegirlgeek, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Cheney is the supreme ruler and dictator in his own mind
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6may his time fade too
that era has caused the world enough grief - fwedwic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Very supprised to see this air on fox..
- zydeco, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Hopefully the Dems will go through with their idea of cutting Cheney's office out of the executive branch budget.
After all, if he's not part of the executive, he doesn't need all those things like the VP's residence and Air Force Two, right? - Darel99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5
I just found my daughters book from last year from social studies. It's a 6th grade book and it does list Dick's office as part of the Excutive branch. I'm going to seed it to Dick's office because it does appear he needs to be reminded from a sixth grade book. Don't you agree?
How many more issues must we notice from our leaders before we arrest them? Get this I'm a republican who is sick of it. We must impeach both of them and dragg them out of office before night fall! - Valkarie70, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I have a feeling he would have no trouble bankrolling his own office...
- ohthehumanity, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I love the responses on the article..
"Im Dick Cheney, Bitch!"
Love Rick James. - tucsonwc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3You are apparently missing the point. Emperor Cheney says his office is NOT art of the executive branch.
Aside from the fact that there has been NO stripping of basic privacy of the executive branch instead it has been cloaked in subterfuge. Nothing that Cheney does or who he meets has become public.
And by the way privacy protection for US citizens no longer exists as a result of the patriot act. Consider the NSA/AT&T spying on US citizens for example.
As to governance, you should say LACK of governance. This administration has been corrupt, inept and more concerned with featherbedding and rewarding the party faithful and their campaign contributors than doing the right thing for this country. They are in fact anti-patriots cloaking themselves in the mantle of conservative doctrine.
Yet their mortgaging of our future, their destruction of government agencies (by filling them with incompetant religious nutcases is legion.
At most your post can be considered to be ironic nihilst sarcasm. - Tserk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2A left over remnant? Last I checked he was still in office and ostensibly an equal partner in this current presidency.
- bakstuh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Wait, do you actually believe this ***** doesn't happen today? They're still in the same smoky rooms, washing down the cigar smoke with 18 year old scotch.
- ButterBuddha, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Worst Administration Ever
- WhiteRaven, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2You are aware that the VP has only two powers/duties, right? To succeed the President if needed and to act as president of the Senate (meaning mainly that he has a tie-breaking vote). It actually doesn't make a lot of sense to associate the VP with the executive branch.
Nothing else you said has any bearing whatsoever on what I said. My point was very simple... the public has a legitimate interest in public policy and such policies are indeed a matter of public knowledge. There is simply no reason for any other aspect of internal debate or discussion to be open to scrutiny. You have an opinion about the public policies of the Bush administration. How does that translate into a need for you to know anything other than the actual substance of those policies? - deadlyseal, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5Cheney is "The Penguin" from the original Batman television show with Adam West
- toddcat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Good Darel, the sooner all Repubs (real Repubs-for smaller government and the empowerment of the individual) realize that Monkey Boy and Puppetmaster are not Repubs, the better. These guys are fascists. Really, you don't want to tie yourself to these guys. I've been telling my conservative friends for soooo long now. It's not about whether I want your party to fail. These guys are HURTING AMERICA. America will not be a great country as long as they are around.
- WhiteRaven, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2fack0,
Where is your evidence? His only actual power or duty is as the President of the *Senate*. Maybe you should re-think you assumption. - WhiteRaven, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Arrest them for what?
And your daughters book is WRONG. The VP is the president of the Senate. Other than being the president's successor in the case of need, that is the only power/duty the VP has. Does your daughter's book happen to accuratly describe the Senate as part of the *legislative* branch? - WhiteRaven, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2I have a basic question. Why is it that the executive branch has been stripped of the basic privacy protection everyone else in the country enjoys? Actual public policy is a matter of public record... the discussions and input that was involved in the formation of said policy really isn't. Does the motivation and thinking behind a policy actually matter? As long as we know the *substance* of a policy (and given it's inherently public nature, we do), we have ALL the information we need. If you disapprove of the policy, attack it. You don't need and have no right to expect to know how that policy was formulated.
In short, *none* of this information is of practice interest, it is only a matter of political opportunists seeking salacious details that have no bearing on actual governance.
