FTA:
One thing is certain: Mass terrorist slaughters like the one in Mumbai could happen in the United States. That something similar and on such a grand scale hasn't happened yet isn't for lack of trying on the part of terrorists. As many mass shootings in the U.S. have demonstrated to us (and unfortunately to terrorists as well), our citizens are horrendously unprepared and untrained for a terrorist attack like the one in India last week. And by "trained," I mean more than just to dial 9-1-1 and eke out a prayer before being shot.

If you are counting on the the government to protect you, you are already dead.
Get your Concealed Handgun License. Buy a good quality pistol. Go to the range at least once a month.
Stock up on ammo now because the new tax on Ammo created by the Obama filibuster proof regime will make ammo unaffordable for all but the very rich. - lilamae, on 12/01/2008, -2/+18When you buy your gun(s), stock up on ammo and be sure to get some training so you won't waste your bullets (ammo will only get more expensive as time goes by and you never know what crazy laws the Left will pass restricting access). When you shoot you want your bullets to count. Have a safe place to store them where your kids can't get them in their hands.
- RuffRidr, on 12/01/2008, -1/+12And vote out Senators and Representatives who are not 2nd Amendment friendly in the next election.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+12You are right. Police are a mop up operation. They 'enforce' (broken) law. When a crime is committed they move in. They have no obligation to protect YOU.
The best defense is a well organized preparation for the unexpected. Be prepared. - inactive, on 12/01/2008, -2/+9Americans have guns today. Get ready, that is about to change.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+7Take a close look at your county sheriff's position on guns and armed citizens. Throw them out at the next election if they don't want you to be able to protect yourselves. Sheriffs are elected officials and need to be serving and representing their constituents.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -2/+6Well then I have a LOOOOOOOOOOT of "pictures" in my gun cabinets.
I'm ashamed that my ancestral home of Great Britain has imposed so many satanic gun bans all over the world against innocent people, WHEREVER Britain had control (India, Canada, etc). NOW DO YOU SEE WHAT WE WERE GETTING AWAY FROM WHEN WE SIGNED THE DECLARATION IN 1776? NOW DO YOU SEE WHAT WE FOUGHT THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR OVER? We fought that war to obtain property, specifically the right to bear arms. How sad that ever since 1933 when our constitution was overthrown by the bankers, we have lost that most precious right. - inactive, on 12/01/2008, -2/+5Yes, the training is a must. "A well regulated militia" regulated meant "trained" at the time this was written. Since the "unorganized militia" is every able-bodied man from 17 to 60, it is the proper patriotic response to well armed and trained. I should think that we would include every able-bodied woman in today's militia, too.
Another point, you can't really child-proof a gun, but you can gun-proof a child. Give children proper training so that they have no curiosity (which all too often kills more than cats). Allow the kids to handle unloaded firearms under close adult supervision so the guns are de-mystified. Take the kids shooting as soon as they are intellectually and physically able. I know this works, I have done it with my kids. Get the Eddie Eagle program from the NRA and start protecting your kids today. - keltin, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2The President-elect has said, a number of times, that tighter gun laws are needed. With our society skewed to the left these last 20 years, when Obama does something that would've been leftist 20 years ago, he looks centrist now. Ex: Gates, a proponent of a civilian security force equal in prestige and power to the military.
That isn't a man I really want in power. - keltin, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1I'd recommend you personally take out your friends and make it fun for them to use a gun. Let me recommend that .22 for their first shot, and not your .44 mag or 7mm Remington mag...
- nitrogen76, on 12/01/2008, -5/+3I cannot stand World Net Daily, but this article is right on. I guess even a broken clock gets it right twice a day.
The "tragedy" (heh) here is that many people will dismiss something like this op-ed out of hand, considering the source is an overtly partisan slander machine like world net daily. That would be a mistake.
