- Shaggy6ster, on 07/04/2009, -46/+644No, resigning mid term as a Governor is the only way to prepare for a presidential election in three years. There's no way there is any type of scandal cover up going on.
/s - neoistheone2001, on 07/04/2009, -30/+509This is nothing but gotcha-journalism
/s - Junkyarddawg, on 07/04/2009, -32/+347Haha, when I heard she was resigning for "personal reasons" I instantly said she'd been caught with her hands in the cookie jar and was resigning to avoid prosecution.
Yes, yes, yes, and hell yes - and the fallout in the next few days will prove it. - twister17e, on 07/04/2009, -22/+323You betcha.
- ArtR, on 07/04/2009, -21/+271I hope she goes straight to porn.
- spookyttws, on 07/04/2009, -18/+266Yeah, remember she doesn't want to be involved in "politics as usual" and she's not one of those "Washington DC Politicians". You know, the kind that actually finish out all 4 years of their term. No, she's a maverick, she quit her job as Governor over a year before it was over, because that's how much of a rebel she is.
Sounds to me like she's exactly like a normal scumbag politician, trying to get out of the public eye before something big drops that would force her to resign and completely destroy her (laughable) future in politics. I don't want to speculate on what made her do this, personal or public, but it's a truly bizarre move.I do know one thing, it wasn't because "She was able to travel the country and meet the people she helped", or that she "completed all she set out to" as she claims. - darthbutcher, on 07/04/2009, -12/+198Since when do Republicans have scandals? Fox News tells me they're all Democrats!
- 2Six119, on 09/10/2009, -23/+206I hate this woman so much
- Dregganaut, on 07/04/2009, -10/+107lol
Do you know what a pap smear is? - hogfoot, on 07/04/2009, -19/+108Hopefully not. I would really like to see this idiot run for president in 2012....and fail miserably.
- GorfTron, on 07/04/2009, -13/+98Palin has not returned well to Alaska. She is buried in ethics issues and criticism. On the other hand, there is millions easy money out there in book deals, speaking and such. She can say what she wants, but this is the path of least resistance for her. Alaska's well being is not even on the radar for that solipsistic ideologue.
- amauldin71, on 07/04/2009, -10/+94Honestly, how much is there for the governor of Alaska to do? She probably just got done quicker than expected.
- lordmike, on 07/04/2009, -23/+103The Ballad of Brave Ms. Palin
Brave Ms. Palin ran away.
Bravely ran away, away!
When danger reared its ugly head,
She bravely turned her tail and fled.
Yes, brave Ms. Palin turned about
And gallantly she chickened out.
Bravely taking to her feet
She beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Ms. Palin!
She is packing it in and packing it up
And sneaking away and buggering up
And chickening out and pissing off home,
Yes, bravely She is throwing in the sponge...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZwuTo7zKM8 - BasalCellBossk, on 07/04/2009, -10/+88Normal people do not have the kinds of belief systems she employs. Her family life is far from normal.
- Cheezian, on 07/04/2009, -32/+109Yes.
- BasalCellBossk, on 07/04/2009, -8/+79"Her family life is none of your business."
*****. She carted her kids out regularly as a means to promote herself. They that sow the wind shall reap the whirlwind.
She used her kids to promote her 'family values'. No wonder that her family values or lack of them came under scrutiny. He staggering lack of insight, and lack of ethics, are entirely to blame for all of this. - Ghostalker, on 07/04/2009, -35/+106Please god, yes.
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -23/+93So wait, she isn't resigning because she just realized she isn't fit for public office of any kind? She isn't resigning because she just realized how stupid most of her comments were? She isn't resigning because she's now collectively hated by the whole American populace, including most Republicans?
Huh, guess I shouldn't expect her to have any common sense. - bkm72, on 07/04/2009, -14/+82LOL.......One word.
"Ooopsy daisy....you betcha"
Okay......4 words.
I love how the republicans cant help but kick themselves in the d!ck (or pu$$) at every corner. Not a huge Obama fan at this point, but the competition is kicking its own ass.
Kinda......no, no this is really funny. (apart from the sad, tragic and truly epic reality) - Loonacy, on 07/04/2009, -5/+66I can just see her campaign slogan now: Sarah Palin, she won't quit unless the going gets tough.
Or maybe: Sarah Palin, she'll last at least a year. - BasalCellBossk, on 07/04/2009, -14/+72The house embezzlement thing has been floating around for a while, my bet is that it is something even bigger. In that 'press conference' she was more panicked and incoherent than is even usual for her. Stank of fear.
- gilbes, on 07/04/2009, -21/+73Reblican? Check!
Corruption? Check!
While all politicians are corrupt, the party that desperatley tries to claim the moral high ground can go ***** itself. - msles59130, on 07/04/2009, -8/+60Catdawg555, It depends on the scandal. No one here gave Blago a pass. But when you have people who are constantly telling us we should all listen to them because they are morally superior to the other side, and then it turns out that they are scummy, well, the sheer hypocrisy of it just boggles the mind.
Sanford was the main person saying Clinton should step down because he was morally unfit to lead because of the Lewinsky affair. And Palin harped ad naseum about how she was not corrupt and did not waste taxpayer money. If they would just keep their mouths shut, then when they do inevitably fall, it wouldn't go so badly for them. - IKORKYI, on 07/04/2009, -4/+54i don't understand why resigning a political position gets you out of being prosecuted for what would be a crime to you and I.
- dissolutionman, on 07/04/2009, -7/+56Wow, you're smart, of course he should resign to run for the office he already holds.
/s - humptyz, on 07/04/2009, -4/+53I can see the headline now, "Former Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin (D), arrested for embezzlement."
- Technopundit, on 07/04/2009, -6/+55If the election had gone the other way, McCain would be turning over in his grave right now.
- TokenBlack, on 07/04/2009, -8/+54he's not a governor
- orlandogeek, on 07/04/2009, -8/+51I think logic and lordmike are not on speaking terms.
- yocouchdigga, on 07/04/2009, -16/+56YES! Ahhhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
- inkswamp, on 07/04/2009, -9/+45I'm not surprised. I've been expecting some kind of big news like this since her speech. My wife and I watched her resignation speech and we both felt like something big was going on behind the scenes, as in someone digging up something really damning that's about to become public knowledge. She spent a little too much time talking about people trying to get her unfairly, like she was prepping a defense in the court of public opinion. Had a weird, affected feel to it that seemed like there was a lot more going underneath.
- lougoose, on 07/04/2009, -7/+43At least here in Illinois our governors stand up and fight when they do something illegal.
- WuShuGuShuPORK, on 07/04/2009, -2/+37go ***** yourself
- KMye, on 07/04/2009, -10/+44yeah, dislike her even more than the average digger, I'd imagine, but after all the "who's baby is it???" *****, etc. that showed up here EVERY DAY just several months ago, feel like it's probably safest for all of us to reserve judgment at this point...
- bicyclethief, on 07/04/2009, -4/+3814:59
- BasalCellBossk, on 07/04/2009, -6/+40Democrats do not promote themselves as arbiters of Christian way of life and family values. The Republicans do. Thus, when the Republicans are caught doing something unethical or immoral, or just human, they look like hypocrites.
hypocrite
n : a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he does not
hold [syn: dissembler, phony, phoney, pretender]
This is the entire reason. If GOP talking heads weren't hypocrites about this stuff, then it wouldn't go down this way. Happy 4th. - algaeturd, on 07/04/2009, -11/+44Well, everyone knew about this during the presidential election. Obviously not ALL of the details of the investigation were finished, but there was more than enough evidence to suggest that there was unethical (if not criminal) misdoings up there in Alaska.
Funny thing is, nobody seemed to care enough to pursue it.
Here's a woman running for Vice President of the United States, there is clear evidence that she abused contracts as a governor for personal favors and nobody even pursued it enough or reported on it enough. What's more, the public absolutely didn't seem to mind at all.
That's the shame of the new MSM...there could be massive breaking news and it can be covered up in the blink of an eye and left alone for 6 months. There were solid leads...she was potentially going to be in the highest office of the land and nobody thought it was worth really putting the screws to these folks with a serious investigation?
Glad she wasn't elected. Actually, ecstatic she wasn't elected. But not just for this reason. Watching her get impeached would actually be fun but not fun enough to suffer through her as vice president. Ever. - arTech, on 07/04/2009, -3/+33Coming up on Fox News: Sarah Palin (D) AK in embezzlement case
- bkm72, on 07/04/2009, -3/+32Oooh........look.
Its an uneducated robot on Digg. I've never seen one of those before.
/s - stunetii, on 07/04/2009, -4/+32Resigning half way through a first term as Governor so as to prepare for presidental elections? Really? That doesn't make sense. Here qualifications were already in issue. Serving out only a half term as Governor does not seem to help her case.
- fxu1989, on 07/04/2009, -3/+31GILFS GONE WILD
- DangerCollie, on 07/04/2009, -1/+28No one running for president would resign the day before a long holiday weekend and say it was for personal reasons. They would resign on a slow news Monday so they could focus on their run for office.
And it's too early. She could have completed her term as governor and still had plenty of time to ramp up for the primaries. Now if she tried to run a presidential campaign she's a quitter who walked out on her commitment to the people of Alaska.
If the Republicans secretly pressured her to step out of politics and the spotlight, it's the smartest thing they've done in decades. - bjornski, on 07/04/2009, -0/+27And Joe the Plumber banging some coconut shells together, skipping along behind.
- Technopundit, on 07/04/2009, -2/+29Bailin' Palin
- kurttrail, on 07/04/2009, -7/+34Vote for the Quitter! Palin 2012!
BridgeTroll, maybe you should stop reading propaganda, and pull your head out of your ass and see reality for a change.
Listen to her rambling near psychotic resignation speech. The woman cannot handle the pressure of politics. She couldn't handle a TV interview with Katie Couric. She is way out of her league, and now even she knows it. Why don't you? - Dregganaut, on 07/04/2009, -9/+35Poor old lordmike.
- landrygfx, on 07/04/2009, -13/+39I can't WAIT for this to blow up back in her face (if it's true)! She would be such a hypocrite after trying to tar the name of Barack Obama with the whole Tony Rezko scandal and saying he was buddies with Terrorists. Karma! Karma! Karma!
- Moralogic, on 07/04/2009, -6/+32And the Palin followers will somehow link it to something insane, and keep following her, she is our Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
If she is in trouble with "personal reasons" now, then how the ***** was she ready to be VP and very likely President when McCain keels over?
No matter how you turn this, she is either caught for embezzlement, or was be no means at all ready for the position she was trying to hold. There is no middle ground. - apothekari, on 07/04/2009, -1/+27?
- Decimit, on 07/04/2009, -4/+30Sarah Palin doesn't need any help ruining her reputation. She is already considered a joke by both the left and the right.
