- brocklese, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16Wow I was literally just saying this, like wow why is digg so liberal...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16Most that call themselves liberal aren't liberal. They're secular progressives, or just idiots that don't apply logic and reason. It's rare that I bury a story. Usually only because it's a duplicate. I do find it amusing that the article mentions "cry more" by name. ;-)
- AdmiralAdama, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16I believe I was the digger who submitted the original submission.
There is nothing "liberal" or "progressive" about denying that there's a problem when women are killed for family "honor" in patriarchial societies. It's just a kind of Dhimmi Derangement Syndrome where any actual hard news on the problems within Islam are considered beyond the pale in good society. It's more scared than liberal, and trying to use censorship to squelch any real thought on the enemies the West -- and women and minorities and infidels -- face. - heidikrist, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12"Freedom of speech only for those with whom I agree" just lacks a certain ring. Whatever happened to defending to the death your opponent's right to speak? If you disagree with someone, use reason, logic, and persuasive argument to tear them apart with words in the comments section, but don't fancy yourself a Democrat (in any sense of the word) if you have to silence the opposition by removing their posts entirely. Did you not read 1984? Or your Mao/Stalin/Castro history? Again, I refer all to http://digg.com/spy/queue, where you can see your buddies tearing down your enemies. And I'm proud to say the perpetrators are far LESS often sitting on the Right.
- PatrioticKiwi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13They call themselves "liberals" but there is a certain cognitive dissonance here. Liberals are supposedly in support of gay rights, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, gender equality, religious freedom, sexual freedom, etc. Islamic society is as far away from these things as one possibly gets. Take gay rights for example. Whereas even the most conservative Republican in the US will only say they are against gay marriage (and believe homosexuality is a sin), in Islam, homosexuals are put to death. How possibly can a true liberal take sides with people who stone adulterers to death? How possibly can a true liberal take sides with people who believe in censorship of the press when Islam is criticised?
Liberalism (in its true sense) and Islam are mutually incompatible concepts. A true liberal would realise that although western society is not perfect, we are far closer to the utopia of a secular liberal state than ANY Muslim country. Even the most "liberal" Muslim country (e.g. UAE & Malaysia) are far more socially restrictive (and less liberal) than the most conservative Christian countries. In the UAE for example, non-Arabs cannot become citizens. In Malaysia, you are legally identified by your religion; and if you are an ethnic Malay, you are legally a Muslim. Apostasy is not allowed.
There is nothing liberal about shielding Islam from legitimate criticism. - bernieg1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7krymore: where in the original post do you see any instructions to create multiple DIGG accounts or cheat the system? I looked over who DUGG this article and looked at about 20 random diggers and couldn't find any "newly minted" diggers, so you are either lying or living under a misapprehension.
In fact nowhere in the article does it even beg one single reader to click on the DIGG button. It is just there for convenience. So nyah, nyah.
As for pitiful site traffic, Planck's Constant in Technorati is in the top 1500 of 50 million blogs and has a current run rate of over a million page views a year, small compared to the big guys like LGF, but hardly pitiful for a site barely over a year old. And what does site traffic have to do with the accuracy or truth of an article? The premise of the article is that liberal idiots bury posts that are written by non-liberals. Is there anyone who doubts that this is true?
So why did it get buried?
1) SPAM? No advertising on Planck's Constant other than an occasional book plug for Amazon if relevant to the topic being discussed.
2) Inaccurate? hardly, seemed to be self-fulfilling prophecy.
3) Insulting? Give me an example where you, krymore, buried an article because it insulted conservatives.
4) gamed the system? How come no one complains about right wing diggers burying provocative leftwing articles? How come, how come, how come? If there is anyone gaming the system it is you, my dear liberal friend.
If you had any decency or sense of fair play, you would have admitted, "OK you got us there, we have been burying conservative articles even if we didn't read them and even if we had no clue whether the articles were cogent analyses of current events or not, doesn't matter. If it's right wing - just bury it - screw it." All you had to do was one time in your life be truthful and admit it. You are an intolerant, bigoted sob who cannot stand conservatives or their views. Just admit it.
I admit that I am an Islamophobe and that I look down on leftwing morons. But I don't bury their articles just because I disagree with them. - Prysorra, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11"neocon bigots"
Irony. Painful. Cheese! - RedHerringHack, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12Idiots, liberally applied to digg. After all, monkeys could be trained to click a mouse.
- THX1212, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16No one is claiming the "whole world is after us." (Even though I'm not a neo-con.) We are claiming that Digg is filled with liberal idiots. It most certainly is.
- Frottom, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15Just idiots - nothing liberal about them.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Here's the question I keep asking myself and others:
Just who is recruiting, managing, and most likely paying these bury brigade members to watch Digg 24x7x365 just to make sure that certain stories don't get promoted? (True, most of the time they succeed, but NOT ALWAYS, and that's what's important.) For a whole variety of reasons, I can see that this is NOT something that they would do spontaneously. What narcissistic teenybopper wants to sit quietly out of sight operating a bury button behind the scenes, where nobody will see him or give him any attention--unless some other inducement is provided?
So who's bankrolling this tawdry effort at click fraud? Is it the local Wahhabis sent here by the Saudis? Is it MoveOn.org? Is it somebody else we aren't aware of yet? But it is click fraud, and before too long no doubt all the dirty linen will be out in public. - 5N00PY, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I agree they're fascists. They're liberal fascists.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5A Democrat called accountability? Only in Hollywood...
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -11/+15Seriously...stop crying
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I love the way people throw the word "neocon" around, and they don't even know what it means.
- 5N00PY, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Gotta love liberals who don't even know they're liberal...or the difference between "famous" and "infamous."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So can 'bots. Nothing but click fraud!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@krymore,
Who is PAYING you to go online all the time to make these false accusations? - LadyInLexington, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4For the uninformed fascism authoritarian rule. If you don't think what liberals are doing by suppresing other views than their own is fascist then you are woefully uninformed!
- bernieg1, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9As the article title proves - it only took a few hours for the liberal idiots to bury something they don't like. They can't take criticism or open discussion.
- THX1212, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5Yeah, you racist neo-colonialist neoconservative fascistheads!
/I'm a Chomskyite neo-Marxist fool too! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4I was unaware that posting instructions on your cult's website instructing members to create multiple Digg accounts and cheat the system to spam your articles to the front page to boost your pitiful site traffic constituted "open discussion". I think the discussion's fairly open, you cheat the system, people get pissed and digg you back where you belong. Democracy bitches, Cry More Please.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Oh I'm sorry, do you prefer to be called neofascists now? "gogo white power! lynch all teh evil muzims!!1"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3You do realize that fascism is a right wing political doctrine right? Oh I'm sorry, don't bother learning the definitions of words, just keep spouting off your hate rhetoric.. The whole world is "out to get you" after all...
- shibboleth, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3buried for playground speech
rise above it, brother. - cyborg, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2*****
- Arcanaut, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1I'm prone to agree with Shiboleth. While I suspect that certain Islamic activist are working to bury stories, as spam, that portray Islamofascism in an unflattering light, I don't think titles like "Digg is Full of Liberal Idiots" are appropriate. Playground speech. I agree: rise above it, brother. I'm burying it, too.
- pintomp3, on 10/12/2007, -18/+8aww. neocon bigots aren't getting their way so they cry. how sad.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -20/+10paranoid neo-cons, no the whole world is not after you.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+1LOL sweet, I'm famous. I suggest you all read my name aloud to yourselves several times. You'll have my advice to you coming out of your own mouths.
