Couric: My Report From Iraq Is ‘What The U.S. Military Wants Me To See'
thinkprogress.org — CBS's Katie Couric is currently reporting from Iraq. Today she spoke to Bob Schieffer on CBS ’s Face the Nation and largely reiterated Gen. Petraeus’s talking points on Iraq. She recounted “signs of life that seem to be normal," but then conceded that the positive aspects of her report are based on “what the U.S. military wants" her to see.

- StepCousin, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6FTA: "And, you know, this market seems to be thriving. And there were a lot of people out and about. A lot of family-owned businesses and vegetable stalls. And so, you do see signs of life that seem to be normal. Of course, that’s what the U.S. military wants me to see, so you have to keep that in mind as well."
I see; Petraeus must've asked the insurgents to tone it down for a bit, because the illustrious Katie Couric is in town.

- chockZ, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0If you were not specifically looking for the "What the US Military wants me to see" quote then you would have taken this as a very positive report from the field.
Far from another example of the "left-wing media (whatever that means) ***** on our troops".- StepCousin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1"What the US Military wants me to see" is in the title of the article, pal.

I agree 100%. If she's whining about the military, let her go on her own. I'm sure Abdul wouldn't mess with an unwrapped white women!
