- texasred54, on 02/06/2009, -8/+96Cheney is a criminal and insane.
- CL38, on 02/06/2009, -9/+91I love Keith's rants....they're so on-target.
Cheney wants to continue playing politics....and spreading his rhetoric and propaganda. It's as though he's crying out to be prosecuted--all of them, Bush, Rove, Rumsfeld, Rice, etc.should be. Jonathan Turley is very articulate about this and strongly advocates prosecutions to ensure that we never again experience the level of violations we've seen these past 8 years, or even worse.
I agree. - novenator, on 02/06/2009, -9/+67That was a RIPPING commentary. Tore that Dick to shreds.
Great reference to how the neocons kept changing the figures drastically about how many of the people they released went 'back to terrorism'. The bush propagandites did this to keep everyone distracted on the question of 'how many' vs is it really true, a misperception that continues today. - inactive, on 02/06/2009, -8/+62What a DICK!
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -9/+53People are going to bury this because lots of people hate Keith Olbermann. Sure, he's overtly dramatic, even a little pretentious...but I'll be damned if he isn't putting into words EXACTLY what myself and so many others of the silent majority are thinking. Bravo, Mr. Olbermann, and God bless.
- Dreamzville, on 02/06/2009, -8/+48A Keith Classic!!!

- firesphotons, on 02/06/2009, -6/+28Except Keith uses facts and has integrity..
- rblancarte, on 02/06/2009, -8/+30Cheney,
We are supposed to be the beacon of hope for the rest of the world. Because of your and Bush's administration (a you are first on that list for a reason), we are now hated throughout the world. We are considered to be a country that doesn't care for the rights of others, rights that we spell out in our own Declaration of Independence "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights", yet your administration chose to ignore these rights.
Our country is a great country. We are supposed to lead by example. It is the hope of myself and many others that Obama and future leaders can provide that leadership for our country, that we may one day soon be at the forefront of the countries of the world. That the rest of the nations of this planet will look at us with respect and judge us as honorable. And may we learn from these mistakes and never elect another administration like the one that gave you power. - bichonfreze, on 02/06/2009, -7/+29IMHO Cheney is crazy like a fox. He uses his position to deflect prosecution of his war crimes, but channeling
'essential and patriotic hokum' thereby attempting to discredit his critics and establishing his record of preventing a
second 911. In clinical terms, he is a paranoid personality with delusions of grandeur. - NotAChickenHawk, on 02/06/2009, -5/+26""The Bush System," as John Yoo so aptly re-christened it the other day. Start the wrong war, detain the wrong people, employ the wrong methods, pursue the wrong leads, utilize the wrong emotions. Beat up first, ask questions later. You know, just like Al-Qaeda does, or Iran. Save this nation from terrorists by doing the terrorists' work for them, Mr. Cheney. To your credit, sir, you have added a new monster under a new bed, to try to continue to foment a national policy of panic."
...
"We, sir, will most completely assure our security not by maintaining the endless, demoralizing, draining, life-denying blind fear and blind hatred which you so thoroughly embody. We will most easily purchase our safety by repudiating the "Bush System." We will reserve the violence for which you are so eager, Sir, for any battlefield to which we truly must take, and not for unconscionable wars which people like you goad and scare and lie us into.
You, Mr. Cheney, you terrified more Americans than did any terrorist in the last seven years, and now it is time for you to desist, or to be made to desist. With damnable words like these, Sir, you help no American, you protect no American, you serve no American — you only aid and abet those who would destroy this nation from within or without. More than 400 years ago, when a British Parliament attempted to govern after its term had expired, it was dispersed by the actions, and words, of Oliver Cromwell.
"You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately," he told them — exactly as, Mr. Cheney, exactly as a nation now tells you: "Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God… go!" - newfrickinshow, on 02/06/2009, -8/+27I sometimes get the feeling Cheney is essentially mooning the Democrats, with his fingers in his ears, shaking his ass back-and-forth while saying "Neener neener neener, you can't catch me." Anyone else get that feeling?
Besides we have to support Barack Obama, and we know he has been a great president because there hasn't been a single major terrorist attack on American soil since he took office. - inactive, on 02/06/2009, -5/+23You and Cheney should carpool together...into the ***** sun.
- Thorlord, on 02/06/2009, -2/+16wait, are you making assumptions on a party, based on them wanting at least some form of humanity during wartime?
i think you are just a Neocon who would rather blame the liberals for all his problems than face the truth.
stop looking for problems that aren't there.
stop ignoring the problems that are. - ThatGeek, on 02/06/2009, -8/+22hmm i thought our economy had already failed. but what do i know
- chooter, on 02/06/2009, -7/+20Olberman has descended with righteous anger!
- NotAChickenHawk, on 02/06/2009, -6/+19"As for our common defence, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our founding fathers, faced with perils that we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake. And so to all the other peoples and governments who are watching today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born: know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman, and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and we are ready to lead once more.
We will not apologise for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defence
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with the sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
We are the keepers of this legacy. Guided by these principles once more, we can meet those new threats that demand even greater effort - even greater co-operation and understanding between nations. We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people, and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan. With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the spectre of a warming planet. We will not apologise for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defence, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you. "
--President Barack Obama - NotAChickenHawk, on 02/06/2009, -1/+14We have seen this fear before: in Cambodia, under Pol Pot. In Russia, under Stalin. In Massachusetts, under Mitt Romney. It is a FEAR, sir, and a TYRANNY, up-with-which-we-DARE-no-longer-PUT!! I pray thee, sir, let us have done with it!!
- NotAChickenHawk, on 02/06/2009, -2/+13Uh yeah... lets see, a conservative is someone who is more concerned about "freedom" in Iraq than our freedom here at home. Who takes more interest in the Constitution of Iraq than the Constitution of the United States. Who willingly take steps to destroy the very same rights, values and ideals that the terrorists seek to destroy. So it seems to me that its the conservatives like Bush who have done everything they can to convince us that they're on our side, while doing everything they can to undermine the very things they claim differentiate us from them.
And while we're on the subject of how conservatives view our soldiers vs. how liberals view our soldiers... lets all remember that a conservative is someone who is more concerned with our soldiers torturing everyone in sight, blowing up as many innocents as they can in our name, than they are in having our soldiers and indeed our very nation conduct itself with dignity, honor, and in accordance with the values that supposedly comprise our very own national ideals. A conservative is someone who claims to support our soldiers, yet sends them into battle with insufficient equipment because they're more concerned in hastily starting a war than properly preparing for it, and who sends them into battle in insufficient numbers because they're more concerned with trying to convince the American public that the effort and cost will be small enough to convince them to go along with the whole enterprise than they are with letting the American people make an informed decision about going to war. And a conservative is someone who lowers benefits for our veterans, by defunding the Veterans Administration and lowering the benefits of the GI Bill, during a war started by these same conservatives. - woofers07, on 02/06/2009, -7/+18So it's no longer a felony to punch Cheney in the face right?
- Csaliture, on 02/06/2009, -2/+12So you want Obama to do nothing and hope the economy regains its footing? I am willing to bet you would be the person 4 years down the road campaigning about how Obama did nothing while the economy continued to fail.
- JanK1, on 02/06/2009, -7/+17Why are you such a DICK!
- NotAChickenHawk, on 02/06/2009, -4/+14I figured Cheney would have already left the country by now... after all, aren't they expecting him at Haliburton's new headquarters in Dubai?
- SoulOne, on 02/06/2009, -9/+19Although I've dugg this story, I somehow wish I could digg it harder. Olbermann hit this right on the nose.
- Aadain, on 02/06/2009, -6/+16"For the love of God, GO!!"
That just sums it all up! - inactive, on 02/06/2009, -2/+11Whoever dugg this comment down should be exported.

I know what Keith really wants to say but cant since its TV:
GET THE F#CK OUT OF HERE YOU DICK! - spookyttws, on 02/06/2009, -3/+12Last night's Daily Show took on this interview as well. Personally I think it was one of the best segments Stewart has ever done. Check it out:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?vide ... - avianeddy, on 02/17/2009, -8/+17Olbermann is our modern-day Edward R Murrow
"Good Night and Good Luck" - inactive, on 02/06/2009, -4/+12i love when people like you comment because it puts in perspective just how far gone people have become brainwashed by the propaganda of the war on terror and the republican mantra of "you are not a patriot if you stand up to us". truely terrifying.
- CATSCEO2, on 02/07/2009, -0/+8Don't compare Cheney with Darth Vader. You disrespect Vader.
- asgardshill, on 02/06/2009, -3/+11Ol' DICK is just pissed that he can't just shoot anybody willy-nilly without being arrested any more. The bloodlust is rising high in his little punkin' head and he has no outlet for it.
Poor DICK. - pintomp3, on 02/07/2009, -3/+11The fundamentals of the economy are strong, eh?
- dancindrudge, on 02/07/2009, -3/+11great commentary! his prop 8 one rocked as well.
- malex, on 02/07/2009, -1/+9You didn't actually listen to the clip, did you.
- WasabiBomb, on 02/07/2009, -1/+9People just aren't that good at keeping secrets. The more people involved in a conspiracy, the more likely it is to be revealed. Until you can logically get past this hurdle, the rest of your theory is just a waste of pixels.
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -11/+19Why are people still looking back to Bush and Cheney? There term is over, they have no power anymore, we need to be looking to how we can improve the future. Sometimes I think the media writes stories like this to keep the spotlight off of Obama.
- dorianG53, on 02/07/2009, -1/+8The fact that this creature still walks the earth as a free man is criminal in itself. Cheney IS a terrorist.............................what a ***** prick!
- yocouchdigga, on 02/06/2009, -0/+7Darth Cheney
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -8/+15When it comes to fear mongering about issues outside America (Iraq, terrorists, etc), it's logical...but when it comes to fixing our broken country, taking care of ourselves and cleaning up messes, you'd rather make snarky comments like this.
- purkel, on 02/06/2009, -8/+15I love Keith!
- NotAChickenHawk, on 02/06/2009, -3/+10Ah yes, because how many people watch you determine the correctness of what you're saying, right? You expose yourself as an idiot with that line of thinking.
- shoover, on 02/06/2009, -4/+11What you don't get is how a soldier putting panties on a terrorist's head has the effect if incensing a culture against you, thus putting the safety of American and Iraqi soldiers in jeopardy. Your childlike visualizations of things don't work in the real world.
And come on, FREEDOM at any cost? Including integrity? - Diggbotness, on 02/06/2009, -3/+10"Who's responsible for that....DICK."
Awesome. - NotAChickenHawk, on 02/07/2009, -2/+8Uh, didn't Bush start telling us that the economy was in the crapper? Wasn't it Paulson who called for dramatic action? Saying that the economy will fail when the best economic experts will tell us will fail, when there is an actual clear and logical path from our present circumstance to a failed economy, is not fear mongering. Telling us to worry about a terrorist attack to occur because as a nearly random occurrance one might happen, while practically hoping that it will so that they will be proof that you were right and serve as justification for all the laws that you've broken. That, my friend, is fear mongering.
- twiztidsinz, on 02/06/2009, -0/+6You know, you don't have to add your own linebreaks...
- TacoHell, on 02/06/2009, -1/+7Comment of the week. Well done, sir.
