- anastrophe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4baloney. global warming is not 'off the chart'. the only way it's 'off the chart' is if you believe they are able to somehow accurately reflect past global warming/cooling cycles, which *they can't*. there's only secondary evidence available - no primary evidence. all charts of warming cycles that represent cycles before about 1850 are little more than 'good guesses'. because, the last time i checked, there weren't any thermometers around accurate to 1/4 deg C, being recorded, 500 years ago.

The weather varies on its own. It's the overall trend that you should be worried about. You don't have a climatology degree, yet you deny the overall belief of the majority of scientists? Including the ones in Paris, who's intent was to make the global warming doubt seize. - hamandcheese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Core sampling in the Arctic can give you an extremely accurate depiction of both the temperature of the time and the approximate c02 level. Core samplings can go back hundreds of millions of years. It may not be absolute but the margin of error still doesn't come near to what we're at now.

I don't need a scientist who cannot accurately predict our weather to tell me that in my area we have had a record cold spell. I won't be sold on the nonsense that Global Warming means that we will have cooler weather. I cannot trust data taken from ice that might have melted away for a time. Can you tell me the weather from looking at an ice cube? Not hardly!
I remember when Al Gore was at Boston just over a year back giving a speach all about Global Warming. He arrived in one of the biggest polluting vehicles made in America. They had a record cold evening there that night. What does any of that tell you?
How about carbon credits. OK. I go buy one of those and then what? Global Warming is cured? Not likely, Goober!
