GOP = Got 0 Plans - bjenidles, on 05/20/2009, -6/+33Canadian mirror: http://watch.thecomedynetwork.ca/the-colbert-repor ...
- nahsrocketeer75, on 05/21/2009, -4/+29Stephen *always* has a better idea.
- AndrewDB, on 05/21/2009, -3/+26Absolutely brilliant The Wørd..
- anonypanda, on 05/21/2009, -7/+27Ahah hah ha. Stupid ***** american politics. Honestly. What a waste of time. You'd think the republicans had bigger problems to deal with like helping come up with a solution to fixing the mess they caused but no, like a badly written soap opera they decide they are going to blow some meeting time off by renaming their opponents -_-
- seanstuart, on 05/21/2009, -4/+22Deep inside Republican Headquarters ...
"The meeting will now come to order. We'll start by continuing deliberations on whether to call the Democrats 'poopy-faces' or 'booger-heads.' Once a consensus is reached we will move on to explore the mystery of why fewer and fewer Americans are taking our party seriously." - CaptOblivious, on 05/21/2009, -5/+23Quite well, thanks!
How's that willful lack of understanding your abject failures working for you? - dagnabbit, on 05/21/2009, -3/+20I'll miss the corner Mom & Pop massive insurance conglomerate once we finally get healthcare reform. The neighborhood will never be the same.
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -1/+17So when are the moderates, the fiscal conservatives, and the small-government conservatives going to break off and form their own party?
- solecize, on 05/21/2009, -3/+19The thing that bothers me is that talk radio has already renamed the Democratic Party to the Democrat Party. It's petty ***** like that which only serves as pandering to a minority of the unintelligent.
- ButterBuddha, on 05/21/2009, -2/+16Colbert FTW!
- falconear, on 05/21/2009, -3/+17Once again Colbert slams it home. Republicans wasting time with stupid ***** that won't accomplish anything, like petty name calling. "Well, double socialist on you, jerk!"
My favorite of his alternatives? The Bad Party - But that will just attract teenage girls. :) - darkciti2, on 05/21/2009, -11/+23Here's a new name for the Republicans:
The "Racist-Fatcat-Churchie-Warmongering-Neo-Nazi-Hypocrite" Party [of 'No']. - WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -3/+14Mm... The "We Hate Everyone" Party is catchier.
- anstice85, on 05/21/2009, -1/+12Yes, the thought of a soft drink tax terrifies me more than the possibility of a functional and fair healthcare system. The nightmares!
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -2/+12Let's say you're right, and Obama will somehow use his magic powers to destroy the economy. Well, what the ***** are the Republicans doing to get back on track? They're the only ones who could realistically stand up to the Dems, but they're too busy with their whack job circle jerk to actually do anything useful. The Republicans seem to be utterly incapable of staying on-message, or even creating a message, because they keep getting sidetracked by teleprompter-gate, not-a-christian-nation-gate, and mustard-gate.
I really hate to give advice to the "enemy," but let's face it - what kept the Democrats out of office for the past eight years? The fact that they didn't do anything but throw a big temper tantrum over the fact that they didn't get their way. Now I see the Republicans are doing the exact same thing. So if you guys are just gonna sit there bawling and whining and crying and not doing anything productive, be prepared to be out of power for quite a while. - CaptOblivious, on 05/21/2009, -4/+14I find it funny that they think it annoys the Democrats enough to offset the fact that it makes them look like a bunch of angry, petty six year olds just trying to be annoying.
I mean really, name calling? Is that all you have left?
How sad. - kylere, on 05/21/2009, -1/+9I move that the Republican Party changes it's name to the Republican Theocrat party
- anstice85, on 05/21/2009, -1/+9This was some paranoid *****.
- falconear, on 05/21/2009, -1/+8They have to have healthcare. Borg implants cause severe skin irritation. "Would you care for an analgesic cream?"
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -2/+9So what you're saying is that collectivism works? I mean, if the Borg represent forced collectivism, well, they are one of the biggest forces in the galaxy,
The real thing here is, though, that you should probably get off the Internet. You know what the real collectivism is with the Borg? Everyone in the Borg has the ability to instantly communicate with everyone else. It's basically an extension of what the Internet is now. So if you really hate collectivism that much, I suggest you remove yourself from it. - diggduggDOOM, on 05/21/2009, -3/+9The Borg thinks with one mind and would be much more suited to the lockstep loyalty demanded in the Republican Party.
As Will Rogers said, "I am not a member of any organized party - I am a Democrat" - anstice85, on 05/21/2009, -0/+6hahah you linked to resistnet
wait, an article from WorldNetDaily ON Resistnet, even better.
guys here is an urgent and reliable piece of news *links to nationalenquirer.com* - JargonScott, on 05/21/2009, -0/+5Who cares about the dang idealogical differences? The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
- ElGubrush, on 05/21/2009, -7/+12I'm pretty sure the only word they can come up with dirtier in the American peoples' minds than "Republican party" is "Nazis" and It will get to that if Godwin's rule has any merit ( it totally does )
- anstice85, on 05/21/2009, -1/+6"Both groups suck prove me wrong" is a little vague. If you're saying that the parties have no idealogical differences, you're obviously wrong.
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -1/+5@FortyCaliber
The point is that Democrats can never agree on anything. Bringing up Socialism is pointless because you make it sound like Socialism is a common goal of all Democrats, and if you'd ever known any, you'd know that the Democrats really have no common goals. - inactive, on 05/21/2009, -0/+4See...It`s ***** like this that makes me vote for the Democratic Socialist Party every time.
- solecize, on 05/21/2009, -0/+4No you fail, but thanks for proving my point *****- Democrats are not part of the Democrat Party just as Republicans are not part of the Republic Party:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Party_%28U ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democrat_Party_%28phr ... - Branchex, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3They both dishonor the ideas they're named after anyway.
- stevensj2, on 05/21/2009, -0/+4When were we told to avoid them? In 1796, during Washington's farewell address. He knew they would be used to turn one group of citizens against another, and serve the interests of the party over the interests of the people.
"They (political parties) serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community;"

Before you criticize history, you should be familiar with it. - Tyrghast, on 05/21/2009, -3/+6Yeah that's pretty accurate.
- LemurDaddy, on 05/21/2009, -1/+4Resistance is futile.
- piieerrrree, on 05/21/2009, -1/+4He wouldn't tax those things because of a health-care reform, he'd tax those things because a lot Americans are fatties. How is he going to build a dream-team if everyone is out of shape? :1
- buckrogers1965, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3What I love is how suddenly Republicans are against deficit spending. After being for it for the past few decades. Now if only my fellow Republicans would oppose deficit spending while they were in power.
- jessemoya, on 05/21/2009, -2/+5Rather, the whole point of the character he's playing is to MOCK how smarmy other pundits can be. *coughPapaBearcough*. (Sorry, it's the swine flu)
- IHateRegisterin, on 05/21/2009, -1/+4The economy died last year during the Bush regime, Obama is trying his best, but it was already too late when he took office.
The first time Bernake started trying to manipulating the Market with interest rate cuts started an intervention policy spiral that could not be stopped. - shoelessschippa, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3It is my understanding that if this is all done correctly it will be a government option to health care that competes in a capitol market with privatized health care...you know like UPS and the United States Postal Service, or Public Schools vs. Private Schools. That is if its done correctly.
...That does sound like a scary socialist world with evil monsters rampaging about, who would want to live there??? - UselessTrivia, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3It's really interesting to see how party identifications have changed over the years.
Democrat, Republican, Federalist, Whig, Democratic-Republican, etc... Not a one of the old pre-1900 political parties really resembles what we think of today as "right and left". We've gotten ourselves into this mindset that certain issues are inherently liberal and some are inherently conservative, but that has not always been the case.
The Federalists wanted a strong central government. We think of that as a "liberal" position today. But the party is historically branded as conservative and "right wing".
Similarly the Democratic-Republican party was all about state's rights and non-interference by government. Sound a lot like the GOP today. - CaptOblivious, on 05/21/2009, -1/+4And of course, a typical republican response.
Rather than admit being wrong or answer a question that the answer for doesn't fit in your narrow world view you deflect, ignore and insult.
You could try answering the question again, but I doubt you will be any more witty. - lanemik, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2someone found their character palette.
- meest101, on 05/22/2009, -1/+3I believe the correct spelling would be "Spalding"
- jessemoya, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2Dude, that was three years ago in '06. The "Doody-Heads" (ha ha! what a burn on you, Dems!) didn't win those midterms with such a resounding support because there was MORE support from their base, but because there was so much less in the GOP.
The only reason we have a Libertarian party and the only reason we even know who Ron Paul is is because the small government types left (were squeezed out of?) the GOP and marginalized.
Somehow, now the Dems (sorry, the "Stink Butts") are the party of small government. - FortyCaliber, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2@macwierdo42
I wasn't talking about democrats, I was talking about democratic socialists. - Elranzer, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2You don't even know what the word "collective" means. You probably heard it on the radio while your mom was driving you to school, and thought you'd be clever repeating it in every other comment you post.
- pinchduck, on 05/21/2009, -2/+4And the Democrats plan of deficit spending is somehow new & creative? Both parties are intellectually bankrupt and far more concerned with their own preservation than the welfare of the country.
- buckrogers1965, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2As opposed to the borrow and spend of my Republican party? Which has lead to me not voting for any Republican other than Ron Paul for over a decade now?
- diggduggDOOM, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2"Maybe it won't ever go that far, but I'm cynical enough to imagine it becoming that bad and misguided."
Maybe it won't ever go that far, but that's no reason not to use your imagined scenario to spread fear and mistrust.
Are France and the UK outlawing cigarettes and booze (to a significantly greater degree than the US)? - lanemik, on 05/22/2009, -1/+2double rat farts!
